  1. "Its arrival in the Great Lakes basin has been so feared that a $9-million underwater electric barrier has been set up at a potential entry point at the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal." WAYYYYY too little too late. Man...this is terrible news.
  2. Thanks everyone who posted on this thread! Also, after reading the responses, I suppose I did underestimate the weight... This is a 2.5 pound smallie caught at Lakair and weighed on a digital scale with Nipissing and Bly present...By the way Bernie...the scale read 2 pounds 8 ounces....not 2.8 pounds. This is the large mouth I caught yesterday....
  3. Good job man! Sounded like a great time out there. Snog/Snag has been having identity crisis after idendity crisis...we just smile and nod a lot.....LOL
  4. Oh man...that's terrible!!!
  5. Thanks for the welcome love fishin....but I've been around here for a while....
  6. Hi Family Fisherman! Welcome to the board. Great introduction too. You'll find lots of friendly info on here to help out in your fishing. I, too, am a shore fisherman and finding spots that produce is difficult at best...and even once you find a spot, there are usually LOTS of others there too. Do a search on "Toronto Islands" on the board. It's a great multi species spot to fish!! Good luck! Cliff
  7. Wow...very cool report. It's great to see some species not caught in our area in reports. Great pics!
  8. If I was younger and single, I'd probably move for the experience (as Joey said). One thing to keep in mind...may or may not be a big deal to him...you MUST use barbless hooks in Alberta.
  9. Wow...what a fantastic report...not just about fishing, but about life! You have a gift for writing...it is evident in here. Great pictures..esp of the view from your cabin. Nice to hear that the reunion went wel...all in all it sounded like a great trip!
  10. Very nicely done! If you live close enough to a great spot like that then you are very fortunate....cant think of a better way to kill a few hours. Great pics!
  11. It's not just you Steve...I was posting and got a "Cannot find server" for about 5 minutes, then the site came back up.
  12. Photoz...yep...I was posting as well...seems the site went down for about 5 minutes on my end. Kept getting "Cannot find server"
  13. Sam...great report! Good to see you got out for a change. I've never top water fished...sounds exciting. Some real nice pics too...esp the sunset ones.
  14. Hey Will...I have no advice to offer...just wanted to say have a great time!!!
  15. Douger...looking forward to this year's salmon season. Hitting the piers sounds like a plan...we'll confirm details as the time nears!!!
  16. Wow!!! Kids are a great motovation for fishing. What an accomplishment for them!! You should go to ontarioanglerawards.com and register them. They'll get a certificate that can be framed recognizing them on their great catches. It's free to sign up. Sounds like a great vacation...they'll remember it forever!!!
  17. MJL...great report...I was wondering if any of the carp guys had been out recently as there hasn't been too many reports out there. Great pics...not huge fish, but it's always nice to feel the fight on the line. Bly and I have been out a few times locally, and even though we know they are around, nothing has been biting. I'll be watching the board to see when they start up again... Great job out there...congrats on a good outing!
  18. Wow...great report and some BIG bass!!!
  19. 369 pickeral???? Holy crap!! You all cleaned up out there!!! I was at Lakair for the first time with the OFC bunch back in June, and I'll be back again next year for sure. Absolutely LOVED it up there. Congrats on a great trip...looks like you all had a great time!
  20. Way to go Steve! Great report and pics as usual. 20 fish in 3 hours is a great fishing outing by anyones standards!
  21. Wow...great report and those urban hot spots need to be protected!!! Some great pictures out there...it's hard to believe the areas that hold fish in Toronto....thanks for the report!
  22. I get to work yesterday morning, log into OFC as usual to see what's new on the board and up pops a private message. I open it up and it's from Basskicker...it says "Good morning Cliff, I realize it's VERY short notice, but I'm leaving at 5:30 P.M today.....so if you can meet me at my place...your more the welcome." A quick call home to make sure we didn't have plans for the evening and it was all set! It took me about 2 seconds to take him up on the offer!! I checked the weather forecast for the area we fished and it said "Zero percent chance of rain", so the evening would be great! Anyways, I left the office early so I could be at his place on time. We arrived at the boat launch in the Kawarthas and we were in the water by 630. The conditions were amazing. Light breeze, calm waters, air temp was about 80F and water temp hovered around 75F. Because it was sunny and hot out, we decided to fish for bass hugging the shoreline and flipping our senkos under docks and overhanging trees. These were not ordinary senkos...we were using the ones that Basskicker makes himself...in his garage and let me tell you, they didn't let us down!!!! Shortly after we launched, Basskicker brings in two in under 10 minutes! I then boated 3...including my new personal best...by 1/2 of an inch...LOL My PB 18.5 inch largie...probably around 2.5 pounds or so....another team 6 entry! Basskicker then finished our catching with these nice ones.... Basskicker had a few other smaller ones we didn't take pictures of and I had a few sunfish that attacked the senkos. All the fish above were caught in under 2 hours. As the sun set, the bite seemed to turn off a bit as the fish left the shade of the docks to roam the lake. We planned on heading off to a few nice spots he knows of hoping for some top water action once it was dark. We arrive at the first spot...change up to some spinner baits and frogs and wouldn't you know it...dark clouds rolled in, the wind picked up and it started raining. So much for the 0% chance of rain!!!! We decided to pack it in and had the boat back on the trailer by just after 10pm. On the way back to the launch, I turn my head to look at the clouds rolling in and my OFC hat goes flying!!! Oh well...bly has one she doesn't wear that she graciously gave me once I got home...haha. I had an amazing time out there, thanks a lot for the great evening Basskicker. Including the ones we didn't take pictures of, we boated about 10 fish in the first few hours. Couldn't ask for a better fishing partner...Basskicker is a great guy...almost every dock we arrived at he said "Go ahead...you get first cast". He did warn me on the way up that if he got skunked, we'd never fish again, so I'm glad he got into a few first thing....LOL.
  23. Wow...that's quite a collection of toothy guys! Welcome to the board...you'll find it's the best one around! Looking forward to more of your reports.
