  1. Ahh...they were little fish, but it's better than sitting in your living room trying to catch them....believe me, I've tried....LOL. Well...not YOUR living room, but my living room....hehe. Hope the ribs get better soon...fighting a muskie would be rather difficult I imagine!!
  2. Wow...breathtaking pictures!!! Sounded like an amazing time up there and glad to see you managed to get in a few hours of fishing. Wich scenery like that, I wouldn't care if I caught anything at all!! Great report...looking forward to part 2!!!
  3. Someone told me tonight that the Salmon are still about 1km off shore. He says since water temps are beginning to drop to give it another week or two.
  4. Wow...what pound test is the bungee??? LOL
  5. Welcome to the board jesse! Only caught pike and bass? Jeez...I'm happy catching any fish larger than oh say...and sunfish...LOL. I'm not in your area, but I'm sure someone will chime in....your offer to take someone out in your boat is a generous one. Stick around, post your reports...I'm looking forward to the steelie posts!!
  6. L'shanah tovah Alex....may it be a happy and fulfilling year! When are you coming back up here? I promise there will be no drywalling projects....LOL.
  7. Well, I've never been on a streak like this...4 nights in a row catching fish. For the record, I've been wearing the same pair of pants since the streak began...LOL. Fish slime for that many days...you dont wanna be too close to me. Anyhow, we headed out and when we got there it was wall to wall people. Again, most left when it got dark out, so we had a few hot spots to try out. The area was teaming with aggressive fish the last few nights, but I think the rain last night may have been enough to send a bunch up the trib. About an hour into fishing, I hooked into this Chinook...a smaller one...31 inches....and 13.5 pounds. The little ones still put up quite the fight...it's just fun to hook into some strong active fish! Anyhow...I had a fantastic birthday...and capped it off with one fish. Goodnight all...I'm pretty tired tonite!!!
  8. Thanks everyone who wished me a happy birthday on the thread that Alex started today. Anyhow, just wanted to share a few things I got for my birthday!! I did get a new medium heavy rod, fast action yesterday....I landed that salmon with it last night. Here's the other stuff I got. If I'm going to try and get some nice Quinte Walleye for the OFC G2G in November...I'll need this stuff!!! A Shimano trolling rod and an Okuma Magda Pro reel with line counter. I know it's not high end stuff, but I'll realistically only be using it a few times a year in big waters. I also got this stuff a few weeks ago...but it was an early birthday present.... Minnkota 30lb thrust Trolling motor.... And deep cycle marine battery with dual mode (10A and 2A) automatic charger. Anyhow...my family rules...they sure know what to get me dont they?? Now...I gotta go fishing...hopefully a report later, but 4 nights in a row of catching salmon may be a bit too much to ask...but come on...it's my birthday right???? LOL.
  9. Yeah...whatever....LOL
  10. Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes....and to Alex who started this thread! Having a great day so far...worked til noon...gonna open some presents soon...have dinner and then hunt some salmon tonight!
  11. Are you kissing that fish?? LOL. Great report Scott!
  12. Sorry...cant help you on Toronto locations....beauty muskie!!!
  13. You dont have to break the bank on fishing gear...especially if you are just starting out and you dont know your own preferences yet. Here's a good overview of fishing rods...what all the medium, medium heavy, light etc...means. Good luck! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fishing_rod
  14. What kind of editing? Photoshop type stuff? Working in layers? Or simple crop and resize, contrast, brightness, etc?
  15. LOL Glen...I popped into chat as soon as I saw the thread, but no one was there. Good to see him back online though!!! Oh...and I suppose it's good to see you too
  16. I'm afraid I cant help you with your questions, as I've never visited that lake...and have never successfully targeted muskie either...LOL. Good luck up there...you'll have a great time none-the-less!!
  17. Oh great....now no one will catch any fish...can I pay you to stay away for another few weeks at least?? LOL.
  18. Welcome back! Bly and I were really looking forward to meeting you up at Lakair this past year. Very happy to hear that things are getting back on track....maybe we'll get to finally meet next year at Lakair!
  19. Hey Kemper...we thought it was early for browns too, but Bly landed a 13 pounder tonight! Love the story...I felt that tired the other night fishing, but I was casting and retrieving and the hit woke me up in a hurry!! LOL
  20. Nice work! Same thing happened to bly and I tonight...only got to fish for one hour before the rains and lightning came!
  21. Nelly...we all make mistakes...just chalk it up to a momentary lapse of reason. You said "first and last time pics for me"...I hope that is NOT the case. We all love pictures here...don't let this spoil your experience forever ok?
  22. Wow Shawn! Great report and pics! That is a great looking muskie...and landed with 8 pound mono...nice work!! Great scenery shots as usual. Plenty of nice bass and eyes there...a great multi species report!
  23. Well, after my rod broke after landing my Chinook last night, Bly was at the local tackle store today letting me know what they had...I now know why a medium/heavy fast action rod is a good thing when fighting strong fish!! LOL. Anyhow, I ended up with a one piece 7 foot Shimano Sojourn...not a high end rod...but a solid one! Plus it only cost 30 bucks...LOL. Anyhow, fishnsled wanted to join us on one of our shore outings, so we aimed to meet at around 815pm tonight. I talked to him earlier this evening and he was out buying some gear to hopefully hook into some Salmon. We arrived at 8pm, Bly fishing in a nice protected area....and me in the wide open. Just 10 minutes in, and I hear Bly yell "FISH ON!!!". I reel in and get ready to be net boy. As she's fighting the fish, fishnsled shows up...he says that seeing her land a fish is a good night for him already...haha. Anyhow, after a 10 minute fight, and Bly thinking she's landed her first Salmon, fishnsled looks down and says, "That's a Brown". I couldn't believe it...especially when you see the girth on this thing....it measured in at 28" and an awesome 13 pounds 7 ounces!!! We realized later on that whenever she wears this hat that the plumma's gave her in Lakair, she catches browns!! Check back on other threads throughout July...you'll see that hat. The problem is she doesn't have a Salmon hat...so I guess she has to go buy a new one...LOL. Fishnsled and I continue our casting...suddenly he calls out "Wow...just had a hit....there's no mistaking when they hit is there??". I just laughed. We continued for another few mintues and we see lightning flashing in the distance. We knew our time was going to be short out here. The rain began to fall...lightly at first when I see the spot I wanted open up. I tell bly and Fishnsled that I'm heading down there. My third cast out there and BOOM! Fish on! It wasn't as strong as the other ones I've landed in the past few nights...or maybe it just felt that way because I could control it so much better with the new rod. Anyhow, the rain started to fall even harder as I landed it...you can see the drops in this pic. This measured in at 34" and weighed 16 pounds 1 ounce. All three trebles were in the corner of it's mouth...it was not coming unhooked!! While I was releasing the fish, fishnsled tries a few from that spot when suddenly the winds start gusting at about 70kph...we were almost blown into the water!! LOL. The rains were torrential and we packed it up and headed back to the cars. A HUGE flash of lightning on the way back to the car told us we were right in leaving when we did. Anyhow...an awesome night out there for fishing for just one short hour...I think we gotta head back there again tomorrow night.....oh yeah...Bly still hasn't got her Salmon yet...LOL
  24. I just bought the Minnkota 30 lb thrust and used it on brickNblock's 14 foot tinny the other weekend. We were out for about 6 hours...using it most of the time from medium to high speed. When I got home and tested the battery, I still had about 50% charge on the battery. The battery I bought was Canadian Tire's Nautilus deep cycle....the biggest one they had ($109). The conditions were about 15km/h winds and it was a river...so we were going against the current quite a bit. Good luck!
  25. Cool...you gotta love it when the bites just turns on like that!!! Great report and pics...thanks for sharing!
