Welcome back!!! It's been a bit ummm....cranky here lately....LOL. Glad to hear the move went well....we'll do salmon next year! Cliff

Thanks everyone...wow...lots of great responses here! Truth is, I may ice fish 2 times this winter....this is more for fall fishing in our boat, where we will always have life jackets aboard and accessible. In order to outfit the both of us, we're looking at around $600. That's a more than we can swing right now. I figure if these will do for those days when it's -5C, then it'll be ideal for us. Hmmm...decisions decisions....LOL.

Thanks for your reply...I have been looking...I only found one that is local....and that one piece was used for $350. I'll keep looking though....this deal is 2 complete suits for $250....brand new...tags still on the items.

Hey everyone...Bly and I do not have float suits right now, but we are working on getting some. I have a line on a great deal....2 complete suits (Jackets and pants are separate), but I wanted some opinions here first, but they are not the classic Mustang float suits I see everyone else wearing. They are the Ice Rider series by Mustang. Here's a list of the features.... The complete info can be found here.... http://www.mustangsurvival.com/resources/d...g_30May2006.pdf ================================================================== Ice Rider™ snowmobile suits are stylish, warm, built for total mobility and designed with rugged and durable materials so your suit will last even the most demanding rides. 1 | Triple layer system Ice Rider™ by Mustang Survival is snowmobile apparel designed to withstand the harshest of environments while providing the comfort, fit and freedom of movement required for riding. Fundamental to Ice Rider's performance is the combination of the outer shell, AirSoft™ foam, and interior lining. 2 | Outer shell construction Ice Rider is made with heavy-duty windproof and weather-resistant materials designed to stand up to the rigors of extreme weather and demanding rides. 3 | Insulating layer Mustang Survival's unique AirSoft™ closed-cell foam is the insulating layer in each Ice Rider product. The foam traps air for flotation, provides warmth, and offers excellent protection from hypothermia in the event of accidental cold-water immersion. The AirSoft™ foam system is a complete lining, glued at the seams. This provides a protective layer, making the suit water resistant. 4 | Interior lining Mesh lining provides comfort, quick drainage and improved air circulation to assist moisture evaporation. 5 | Collar design Each Ice Rider jacket features a 'stand-up' collar design providing unsurpassed protection against wind and cold. 6 | Fleece collar Anti-pill fleece lining is standard on all stand-up collars* and hand warmer pockets. *(Not available on Kid's Jacket) 7 | Reflective piping 3M™ Scotchlite™ reflective piping delivers greater night-time visibility and safety when riding. 8 | Double storm flap The insulated snap-down storm flap* provides protection from both wind and snow. *(Not available on Kid's Jacket) 9 | Venting Strategic pit zipper ventilation (additional chest vents on the V2) increases air circulation and moisture evaporation. 10 | Drainage A drainage system found along the perimeter of both the jacket and pants allows for the rapid release of water after the rider has been rescued or has self-rescued from icy cold water. ===================================================================== Does anyone have these products? I have no idea what the main differences are between these and those one piece suits everyone has. One key difference I'm assuming is that the one piece suits are approved floatation devices, while the snowmobile ones are not....although they have video of how these will keep you afloat...designed so that the person is upright in the water so that getting out is easier. The price for two complete suits is well under $300 for the both of them...just wondered what ppl think of this.... Thanks!

Anyone's boat worth more than the towing vehicle?
ccmtcanada replied to BFSC Kevin's topic in General Discussion
Hmmm....hard to say....our vehicle is 10 years old, with 300,000 km on it...... Boat was 1300 bucks....2200 including the trailer.... I'd say the vehicle is worth more.... -
Never thought I'd see the day when I read something like that....LOL. The dollar is rising too quickly for my comfort....5 cents in the last 3 days!
-
Great report! Nice colours on that fish too!
-
Wow Peter....thats a cool story!!! Congrats on the find....and research to see what it's worth....now...it may say 7-9000 pounds...but you gotta find someone willing to pay for it. Good luck!

I think Lew has a point. When I sleep more than 7 hours straight, I wake up feeling groggy and it takes me hours to get out of that funk...sometimes that entire next day I never shake that feeling. I seem to function best when I get around 6 to 6.5 hours at a time, get RIGHT into the shower and I feel ready for the day.

Restless leg syndrome....yep...both bly and I have that. And it REALLY sucks! It always flares up at bedtime and makes it impossible to fall asleep. Thankfully it has settled down for the both of us. I think exercise and diet have a lot to do with it. Bly had it really bad during her last pregnancy....sometimes going over 48 hours without any sleep. Unless it keeps you awake at night, it's probably not RLS...as that's when it's the worst. I was chronically fatigued for 18 months once. And it was chronic sinusitis that was the culprit. I didn't have the runny nose, or any symptoms like that...merely an inflammation of my sinuses that was causing headaches. Not really bad ones, but enough to make me feel like I was hit by a truck. I went to ear/nose/throat specialists, allergy specialists, naturopathy specialists, my GP, had xrays of my head, walk in clinics and none could help me. The problem was that when I was the most exhausted, the RLS would kick in at night. Then one day I was walking by a chiropractor....I never believed they worked, but I was desperate and went in. I had a 15 minutes interview on the spot and he said he thought he could help me. He took xrays of my neck and spine and my neck was in bad shape. We started sessions 3 times a week. AFter the first 2, there was no improvement....I was giving him 3 before I just stopped. After the 3rd adjustment, I felt a warm rush starting at the top of my head all the way down my body and my headache, sinus problems, and sleep issues went away instantly. Anyhow...that's my experience with chronic fatigue....and it was a horrible year and a half for me and my family. Hope things look up for you bud....dont discount chiropractic care even if you think you are ok....it never hurts to go and talk to them.

Wow Mike...and you called me insane for fishing after our last excursion?? LOL. Great job out there and some BEAUTY fish! That's a nice supply of roe there....so when the BBQ???

If I had the day off I'd be on the tribs at first light! Go get 'em and post a report when you get back! Good luck!
-
Oh man....I get sooo jealous when I see these reports! Someone recently started a thread about where in the world would you like to fish if money was no object....and one of my choices was BC for sturgeon fishing. Amazing report and pictures....must be such a rush to land one of those beasts!!!

A Taste of Winter for Southern Ontario - NF
ccmtcanada replied to ccmtcanada's topic in General Discussion
Hey Wayne...I'm at the office right now...I dont need to hear that here. If I wanted that kind of treatment I'd just go home....LOL. Seriously though, Bly gets irritated when I give her updates every 5 minutes on the weather...hehe. -
Would you rent a prospector tent vs a cottage?

Wow...up to 10 to 15cm of the white stuff in the traditional snow belt regions... There are also lake effect snow warnings for parts of PA and NY states. ================================================================== From Environment Canada - Special Weather Statement. http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/warnings/SW..._e.html?prov=on WOCN11 CWTO 061105 Special weather statement Issued by Environment Canada Ontario region. 6:05 AM EST Tuesday 6 November 2007. With unseasonably cool Arctic air flooding across southern Ontario today courtesy of a fall storm centered this morning just north of Lake Huron most areas will be experiencing their first taste of winter over the next couple of days. Lake effect showers are already being generated off of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay early this morning in a strong and chilly westerly flow. Temperatures over the higher ground west and northwest of the Golden Horseshoe have become cold enough early this morning for a Few flurries to mix in with the showers at times. A few wet flurries have been reported as far south as Kitchener and Windsor early this morning. The lake effect showers are expected to become more intense and extend further inland by this afternoon. In fact as the airmass may become unstable enough for isolated thunderstorms to spark some excitement over a few locales with the greatest chance of thunder near the shorelines of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. Brief heavy Downpours..Strong and gusty winds..And even some small hail are possible as a result. As ever colder air continues to flood in temperatures inland from the Great Lakes will drop to near or a little below freezing Tonight resulting in a changeover from showers to flurries over the higher ground in the snowbelts. This will set the stage for the First accumulating lake effect snow of the season. The flurries may become heavy at times with local snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 cm quite possible by Wednesday morning over higher ground and lesser amounts near the Great Lakes where the flurries will be very wet and possibly mixed with showers. Some of the flurries may make it into The Golden Horseshoe area tonight..Although no significant accumulations are expected. Motorists should drive with much extra caution as hazardous winter driving conditions may develop in the snowbelts tonight. This could result in a slippery morning drive for some folks in the snow belt regions Wednesday. Flurries will begin to become less frequent later Wednesday as a high pressure ridge moves in and the winds diminish. Listen for further statements. Additional information may also be found by consulting the latest public forecast. The next public forecast will be issued by 11 AM today. END/KUHN/OSPC

Adding/Stocking new species in a gravel pit
ccmtcanada replied to Beats's topic in General Discussion
There's a little fishing pond in a local conservation area around my place that was stocked with small rainbows this past spring. It's also home a few largies, assorted sunfish and bullhead. By mid summer, the waters were so warm that the trout were all dying...it was a sad sight to see! -
A Little thanks to a fellow Board Member ccmt Canada!

Hey Mike! Thanks go to you as well for helping out my friends. I know this was out of the way for you....and you had to drive quite the distance, so I appreciate it very much! You did an awesome job (as seen in those pics). They really were in a quandry and I remembered your ad in the members business directory, so I contacted you. The timing all just seemed to work out from there. I did tell them that I didn't really know your work, but I urged them to call you to take the chance. Awesome work Mike! It looks amazing. I'd refer you to anyone I know who needs a job done...they really liked working with you...so again, thank you! Oh yeah, taking us fishing isn't necessary, but hey, I'm not going to turn down a fishing trip....LOL. We'll be in touch. Cliff -
One thing to check out as well is used motors that do not work....you can sometimes get them really cheap....if one has a working trim and tilt, then you may get yourself a bargain! If you could find your own motor, then you'd have spare parts as well.

Boy...you sure know how to take something beautiful and serene and add some eloquent language to it....jeez!!!! Perhaps lavatory would have been a better choice of words....LOL. So...when can I fish up there??? haha.

LOL Roy... Ok...here's some quick reading on that topic. I cant remember what the answer was..... http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.p...pic=3302&hl=
