  1. I hear yah Art, been to hell and back a few times since getting married at 20 with $13.64 in my bank account and there's definitely no old money in my family. The last 5+ years of chasing Jen have almost taken me back to that $ plateau, and getting screwed for a quarter in the boat deal didn't help at all, but as you say never say never and you just claw your way back above board anyway you can muster. Smoking a few joints along the way didn't hinder the outcome and certainly didn't cost me anywhere near what the pharma equivalent would have!
  2. I wish we could just go back to the days of the rotary dial phone screwed to the wall...
  3. So none of them hang out with anyone that drinks or smokes pot? Amazing, must be a great Baptist town. Pretty sure it was a hypothetical question, since I asked the same one about 4 pages back and I'd sure rather IF the situation happened that my daughter was stuck in a house with some pot smokers than a bunch of guys drinking whiskey. Reminds me, I have a brother in law to go pay a visit to and show him what a beating really feels like.
  4. "hot box his office" !
  5. My kinda guy Shayne! lol
  6. For $2600 I'd climb it and cut it piece by piece with a hand saw for you! Hell I could rent a crane, rig it to the upper limbs and make a single cut at the bottom. They're out to lunch for a 4 hour job. You'd be better off to let it fall on your house and pay the $1000 deductible for the repairs.
  7. I think he's just pointing out that welfare is a hereditary disease.
  8. LOL Cancuk, and I know more than a handful of those MD's ! So if I chose to partake I'd be good. I'd rather them than some of Jen's that chewed on ice chips all day to hide the uppers that kept them going 18 hours a day.
  9. Sorry about the news Mike, looks like you have memories abound to keep you moving forward and remembering a great man!
  10. My father was one of those sircranks... and we had our own store!!! "When they get to a dollar a pack I'll quit"... ya right!
  11. Wouldn't matter what the addiction Cliff, some people should have been neutered at birth as they put themselves before their kids at all cost. I know more than a few from the Ottawa Valley and I'm now watching the next two generations do exactly the same thing. You can't blame it on pot, would be no different than them buying legal booze at $60 / jug per week x mom and dad = $480 a month.
  12. Well Sinker.... you'd think that... but it certainly didn't work for us yesterday after 9 hours of targeting every hump, bump and open water stretch of water that we know produces.
  13. Poor them, most hard workers have no health coverage, std or ltd insurance.. let alone a 1 month salary death benefit and 2 x your yearly salary life insurance as a perk of the job. But Jen's brother and sister are thankful that she did.
  14. Not new, and since passports have been mandatory they've been scanning and tracking for a few years. I know two people that have been denied OHIP for being out of Canada for one day over the allowed 6 months. Many thought it was fine, including my father in law, to spend 5.5 months in Florida.. come home and then spend 3 weeks in the UK on a summer trip. Adds up to more than 6 months and you're booted from the system.
  15. I could never be bothered to wax a car, so I'm certainly not doing it with a boat. 9 seasons, washed with nothing but a kitchen mop and lake water. Scum line down a quick blast of Starbrite each fall, after sitting in the water for 5+ months, and a rinse. Still as shiny as the day I bought it, thanks to the PPG paint Lund used(s). Last Monday...
  16. Thanks Joe! As for the weather forecast, was supposed to be choppy out there today... smooth as glass 'till 3pm.
  17. You don't have to be on the big part of the Bay for it to get dangerous. Waves in Midland and Penetang Harbour mouths were 7 feet on Monday when Andy and I were out and they were rolling over the bow of my Baron. Yesterday they were 3 feet + way in the back channels behind Thompson Island. Hopefully you've both learned a wonderful lesson and can continue to boat safely. I can't judge anyone on stupidity, as my father-in-law and I use to troll the main Sound in a 12' springbok with both a 7.5 Elgin and 5.0 Evinrude on the back. That way we could hopefully at least keep one of them running and would troll the troughs in 10' swells between Snake and Methodist! Swells so big you had to hold your rod tip up or they were in the waves. Turning around was the part the sucked, but I always made sure he was in the bow and I was driving!!
  18. Stood up in that boat, out on the Bay... thank god the water is still 54F
  19. Gotta love getting home from fishing at 6pm and by 7pm the wife is saying "Tuesday looks great, you guys should get out there again"! Who am I to argue...

LOL, no.. we'll be back out there next week after this rain pattern moves on. My wife wouldn't ever make me sell a single bait!

  20. They did well Roy, but once the TML wake up and get rid of their effortless Captain they may go somewhere!
  21. Hell, you don't like cell towers, I used to be able to get myself home following the highway reading licence plates from 100' but that's certainly no longer an option.
  22. Sounds like trying to buy something from my father in law. No excuse for not having a trailer ownership... if his plate is legit just get him to go to service Ontario and get a replacement ownership. The first thing cops ask for now when they pull you over is trailer ownership and sometimes boat ownership. A good thing to try and deter stolen boats from travelling the highway. Everyone on this forum should have the trailer ownership in their vehicle glove box and the boat ownership in it's glove box. As for numbers on the boat, again vessel licence is mandatory to have on board the vessel. He should have it! If he can't produce either, walk away.
  23. If they catch squat they are overpriced. If they catch a giant they are priceless. I chuckled at Andy on Tuesday when I threw a Plow on to run at 30' and he said "that's gonna cost you $150 on the next hump"!
  24. No, I think it's right there with pumpkins Dara! They aren't getting mine and I don't think I have to worry about the daughter either.
