Fabulous report Drew ! Well right up to the part where a guy with all that energy couldn't go 3 more miles down a lake! lol No biggy... you'll be back and we all fully understood the road conditions from our drives up.... with some of us barely making it to Temagami in one piece.

That's what it says there hammercarp.. correct.. but the actual regulations state when renting.. even as a Canadian you just need the signed rental agreement with the check list on it in place of a card.... unless someone re-wrote it again. I "rent" my (unused ontario corp #'s) boat to my children and guests! Edit.. From Transport Canada website.... Anyone born after April 1, 1983 who operates a pleasure craft fitted with a motor, and all operators of pleasure craft fitted with a motor and less than four meters (13.12 feet) in length, are now required to have proof of competency on board at all times. As of September 15, 2009, all other persons who operate pleasure craft of any size fitted with a motor will have to carry proof of competency. Proof of competency can take one of three forms: proof of having successfully completed a boating safety course in Canada prior to April 1, 1999; a Pleasure Craft Operator Card issued following the successful completion of an accredited test; a completed rental-boat safety checklist (for power-driven rental boats, valid for the rental period).

Trilene knot was all I ever used..until I started loosing lures for no reason on braid when snagged. All I could determine was the knot was slipping undone and I started using the palmar on ppro on Lew's suggestion.

Just remember it doesn't hold with braid !!

My deepest condolences Jacques. I've got no great words of wisdom for you unfortunately. I've been there and know the feelings that are raging thru your mind... just think of the good times and smile each day when you do so. Cryings just fine as well !

Be REAL careful in all your mentioned lakes. I just drove thru there today and there's more open water than I've seen in past winters. High flow on the Magnetawan etc. McKellar/ Manitouwabing is open right to the dock on the far shore from the highway. Saw a couple portables out there on Wednesday about 30 feet from open water. Walk spud.. walk spud..

Man.. we gonna have this drive/walk debate twice a week around here. To each his own...at least you walkers might stay in shape... lol !

I think I'm the only one that took any pictures... and posting ain't gonna happen tonight. Been a long 7 days.. they went by way to darn fast.. but us 40..oh and Terry.. 50 something fellas roaming around on sleds for 60+ mile round trips two days in a row (in pretty rough wind blown drift conditons), plus all the other trips, slush shovelling, lifting sleds, slamming into trees, etc took the toll on me at least.

Oh.. and you did forget to mention that while you... and I.. and someone else did get skunked on Temagami, we didn't get skunked somewhere else where you pulled 7 fish up the hole ! And 7 purdy fish they wuz ... ....and as for that "missed" fish... man I wish I had that on video to share with EVERYONE!

Great stuff Rob! Glad you guys had a great time and got good weather... we sure didn't on the weather! 2 fronts thru in 5 days..snow and high winds. Even buried my sled to the bars on Browns.

Many of our Specks from this weekend were full of eggs...that and crayfish! lol

No idea... but it's your only choice other than going right into Temagami and going to "Dad's" and seeing what Jim has. He usually has Shiners and Red Dace... and like I said the recommended on Temagami is shiners and other surrounding lakes Red Dace... now I've gotta get out the door... Temagami's callin... lol.. and we all fish with just artificials. Gramps.. 1-705-569-3825

Gramps bait and tackle... at Angus Lake. Shiners for Temagami... Red Dace for the other lakes in the area. Don't be haulin those Lake Ontario/Simcoe water shed minnows up from Innisifil Bait and tackle !!
