  1. I've walked rivers numerous occasions and yes find the occasional jig...but no where near as common or dangerous as large crank baits etc in the boats. So in that light...I don't believe you.
  2. I personally hate fishing area restrictions. If we don't do something about it, soon more areas will be pay to play or no play at all. Some of my favourite sections of steel head waters continue to get encroached on by private land owners. I would really love to see stream and fishing area access rights. That said, it never pays to change a law by breaking one. There are other ways to get the law reviewed...via responsible means. Go to city council meetings and be heard. Your comments will at least be documented and you might get support from the Councillors. Find out why they applied the law; while its unlikely..they may have a good reason for it. If you can point out the silliness of the bylaw in a logical way you'll have a high probability of changing it. As for marina no fishing. I have several friends with large motor and sail boats and they pick out more treble hooks and lures from their ropes and sails and deck wood then we likely have in our tackle boxes. In fact, one of their young daughters had to go to hospital to get a huge treble hook dislodged from her foot while running down the deck. The zara spook...was lodged on mooring rope. She was running...lets just say...she stopped dead in her tracks. I fully and completely support no fishing in marina mooring areas. Good luck
  3. A really good report. Excellent shots and commentary.
  4. I want to understand what this means better: "This petition is to show there is a need for a sanctuary on the big otter creek in the tilsonburg area to stop people fishing out of season for migratory rainbow trout." Does this mean a complete no fishing for any species during the closed season for trout? Is there a zone where this would be applied or the entire tributary? Is there a valid recreational fishery for any other specie during the closed trout season? Thanks
  5. That first picture is as close as I've seen to a dog smiling!
  6. I'm not an overtly religious guy and don't know you at all...but like any decent person would, am offering up a request to the powers that be to help give your family and daughter strength and courage to win a positive outcome. All the best.
  7. From what I understand Bull and Dollies are the same thing
  8. What I find surprising is that .08 is a substantial level of alcohol in your system. When they say most people don't notice, I find that hard to believe. .08 and thats a really good buzz in my opinion.
  9. Nice fish and post. I'd take a fly caught steelie over a pin setup any day.
  10. Great shots, beauty river. Fine young man you got there. Looks like he knows what he's doing. Thanks for sharing.
  11. I'm not sure usurp is the right way to define it, but I understand what you are saying. I can't confirm whether possession laws take precedence over spoilage law..but it does make sense and if you're right, It could be assumed that I was attempting to "usurp" the possession law if I tried to use the spoilage law as a defense. Good to know, as always hated to throw back a fish that I positively knew was going to die but it seems I have no choice.
  12. I'd agree with that if this wasn't internationally publicized with video evidence. They're done like burnt toast.
  13. A CO would only enforce if he thought he had a good case or didn't believe you. A judge makes the final ruling. That said its likely not worth the hassle and logically the best approach is to release it.
  14. The law is not clear as the "do not spoil" provision is in direct conflict. The spirit of the law is also a legal consideration when factoring intent. The law is designed to protect against illegal intent to poach. In this case you could present a plausible reason for keeping the fish.
  15. I've seen this as well and I believe its a cultural thing with the Europeans. They have their wine with lunch...cause its what they've done since they were 12 at the farm back home. I've never seen them binge drink...nor have I seen it affect their work. In fact, as you say, their productivity, craftsmanship and loyalty to the company was second to none. As a guy that works in the office...I've had a beer or maybe a glass of wine if the meal calls for it, usually with visiting clients, but its a rare event. I'm typically useless after even one beer as I find the energy level just plummets so I generally avoid it. But the guys in the video, they are just binge drinking and getting high for the sake of getting high, like kids in high-school hiding at the park. I suppose their jobs are unimportant and boring to them so the look for an escape to get them through the day. I'm not one to judge...but it just seems dumb to me. In fact dumb enough to get their intoxicated mugs plastered over national television. Looks like its gonna be food stamps for them for a long time. Feel bad for their kids and families
  16. Highly recommend packing some of your own travel gear for the often times great shore fishing. Charters are hit and miss. Make sure everyone has sea legs or bring lots of gravol. I haven't fished Punta Cana...but every time I head to the Caribbean I always bring my own gear and have a riot. Just got back from St. Martin and landed over 12 Tarpon within a 5 minute taxi ride from my hotel. I brought Jerkbaits, swim baits and various plastics and they all worked great. Just make sure you have the heaviest freshwater gear you can bring. Ocean fish can be violent.

Just noticed he has no tow rope in his hands...must have figured he was in for a rough landing.
  18. Plugs aren't that hard to get out of them. The bottom one is tucked pretty low in the engine compartment so its a bit more challenging..but with the right tools its a cinch.
