Thanks for all the advice guys! I was also looking towards a small boat at BPS called the pond prowler http://www.basspro.com/Uncle-Bucks-Pond-Prowler-Boat-8/product/10204570/100475 . Im still not sure what im going to get ill have to alot of research as this is gonna be my most expensive fishing related purchase and I want to make the best of it. Anyone have any experiance with these boats? or similar ones they can recommend? Thanks again Mike

Im gonna be buying a 'yak for fishing this summer and cant wait! Does anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking of getting oneat the sportsmanshow as there should be a big selection and Ive worked out some very nice deals there before on bigger purchases (rod/reel combos etc.) Im wondering if anyone knows any particular good brands or models out there that would suit my needs. Im going to be using it primarily in small weedy lakes and the saugeen river and a few of its tribs. My budget is about 500-600. Any advice is appreciated as always. Thanks, Mike

haha Thats exactly what I did bill! Before rereigging with shot hook and leader i casted out with just the float and intentionally crossed his line about a half dozen times until he moved to a different spot. The look on his face was priceless!

Hey yall, So I was out chrome huntin the other day (big surprise inno LOL) and in my first drifts I had gotten what I had thought was a snag on the bottom. After a solid tug of my line my hook was free from the bottom of the river and I had noticed that I wasnt snagged on the bottom, but my line had wraped around some fishing line that was snagged. While removing the snagged line from my line I saw there were two flies tied to the snagged line so I snipped the line and added them to my tackle box. I continued fishing for about an hour with not even a strike so i decided to give one of these flies a shot. 3 drifts later my float drops and my drag starts to scream! After a solid fight including 2 massive leaps into the air I had landed a 28 inch buck! I was shocked such a big fish would hit such a small fly. After moving down to a different spot and loosing that fly to the bottom of the river I decided to give the second fly a shot. It was about 2 thirds the size of the other one so I was curious to see if the fish would even notice it, and they did!! After working the spot with the fly i decided to let it drift right to the tail end of the pool and just as im about to reel in for another drift BOOM my float drops and my drag begins to sing. After another solid fight with the fish taking me a good 70 yards down stream I landed another 28 inch beast! After a quick pic he was back in the river. The rain started to pick up so I packed it in and called it a day. The next day I arrived at the river and was shocked that the water was even lower and clearer than yesterday, even with the rain, so i tied on the fly and started drifting. After a few drifts at one of my favorite spots my float drops and im into another big fish. After about 5 minutes just as Im about to drop into the river with my net and go for the landing, my leader breaks and the fish and fly are gone . I think Im more frustrated to have lost the fly than the fish to be honest LOL. So the rest of the day was spent drifting roe and pinkies and I managed to get into and land a nice 24 inch buck on a roe bag. After all the success I had on these flies and now having lost them I really wish I had taken a picture of them so I could get some more of them same pattern, but its too late now. Im thinking of going down to my local fly shop and looking around to see if anything there resembles these nymphs I had found and I advise any beginner steelheader to pick up a variety of nymphs for there tacklebox. Hey yall, I managed to get out for some fishin the other day and got into some nice fish. The day started of very slow with not even a strike in the first 2 hours! I was thinking of giving up for the day and trying the next ... good thing i didn't!!LOL I ended up going 2-5 on the day loosing 2 fish due to my drag being to tight Im still trying to get the hang of this new drag-on-top reel but by the end of the day I had it down. My buddy lost what would have been his second steelhead ever, a 10#+ monster hen, to a log jam as well Overall it was still a great day as I got to wet a line and got into some steel. We ended up fishing well after dark with no action once it go really dark, but we though we'd give it a shot. Will float fishing still produce after dark? or should we be casting loud and bright hardware once the sun goes down? The only fishing ive done at night was for bass with loud rattling crankbaits. I had a chat with another guy on the river who was trying to convince me a certain trib west of toronto saw a run of lake trout this fall and was saying him and his son caught a combined 7 in one day!!! I didnt believe a word he said and wanted to call shenanigans but that would be wasting valuable time reserved for fishing Thanks for reading

your probably not gonna get to much help as thats a very touchy subject. Check the regs and do some googleing!!!! Part of fishing is getting out there and trying your luck, not relying on other ppl to tell you where to go and what to use. If this is what your looking for you should be looking into a guide.

I did the same with my brand new lap top about a year ago, got on the 403, made it about 800 meters down the highway and i heard a loud bang in the bed of the truck, looked in the rear view and saw the lap top tumbling and finally end up on the shoulder. I got off the highway and backtracked to the exit i got onto, got back on the highway and recovered my broken lappy. Everything was busted on it except for the hard drive i was able to recover any files that were important. To this day i never drive with my tailgate down just incase something like this ever happens again. Spent 550 on the lappy and only had it for 4 days

Hey Brad, I would never do something as stupid as fishing an out of season body of water nor would I be even dumber to post a report about it. lol Those fish are from a river that is open ALL year round for fishing. I am sure there are a few guys on the forum that can back me up and correctly identify the location by the background of the pictures but there is no need to publicly give away where exactly Im fishing if its 100% legal. Although I wish bronte was open I wouldn't mind saving an extra couple bucks on gas lol but o well learning new body's of water and how they differ from others is one of the things I really enjoy about fishing. Jets and leafs has been a good 1 so far. How bout them leafs playing like a playoff-worthy team the last few games? Too bad burkie doesnt have any big trades planned for this months deadline, we could defiantly use a bit of extra fire power off the wing.

Close! haha its an old shimano R4000 with the bottom drag. Sadly her time may be up though, the other day when fighting a fish it was making some pretty weird grinding noises from the crank and it has quite a bit of play to it. Ill really miss that reel, tons of great memories. If anyone has any advice on repairs please let me know as I really enjoy using this reel and dont wanna see it "retire". I think the bearing are gone in it
