  1. Cheese sounds interesting. I will have to give that a try this evening. This is making my mouth water.
  2. Lay down strips of bacon and then lay strips of Perch fillets on top of the bacon. Season with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Roll up the perch and bacon strip and place a tooth pick through it to hold it together. Place on a baking sheet and bake for about 20 mins at 400 degrees or until the bacon starts to crisp up. Optionally you can also baste with your favourite BBQ sauce half way through.
  3. I managed to get out on Simcoe yesterday for the last time of the season. It was a gorgeous day to be out on the ice. The shoreline was pretty much non existent but I managed to sneak my way on the ice. The ice was consistently 15-18 inches where I was fishing but the integrity of the ice was terrible. It was honeycombed almost all of the way through. Fished for about 5 hours having to move around 4 or 5 times until I found the bigger fish. Managed to keep 20 good sized perch for a few good feeds. I'm sad to see the ice go but now starts the count down until soft water. Hope everyone had a good ice season this year. Cheers. ?
  4. So many great responses and tips. Thanks guys
  5. Thanks for all the responses guys. I will check those places out
  6. Hey guys. So i'm planning on renting a house boat this summer for a vacation with the wife's family. I was wondering if anyone knows of any reputable companies where i would be able to rent a house boat for a week? Looking for something that is within a few hours of the GTA. Nice scenery and decent fishing would nice. I have never done the house boat thing but i have heard its fun from people who have done it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  7. Nice photos and nice fish.
  8. https://www.gisapplication.lrc.gov.on.ca/FishONLine/Index.html?viewer=FishONLine.FishONLine&locale=en-US This website is a great resource when it comes to discovering new lakes.
  9. This looks amazing. Perfect cold weather meal.
  10. Dinner tonight was fresh from the lake. Yum.
  11. LOL. Thats good to know as that is where we are staying.
  12. I would recommend using braid with a fluoro leader. Fluoro has a lot of memory and is pretty stiff. Braid is so much more durable IMO.
  13. Lake X 8 inches
  14. Thanks so much for the info guys. I will let you know how we do.
  15. Hey guys. I have a boys trip planned to go to Mountain Lake in a week for 4 days. I have never fished the lake before. I know that there are Lakers and a few Walleye to be had. For anyone that has fished this lake before do you have any advice on how to get into some fish? Should we use tip ups for the Lakers? Unfortunately this lake is restricted to only one one line in the water per angler so just using a tip up would be kind of boring. Please let me know if you have any tips for me and my crew. It would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to PM me if you like. Thanks so much.
  16. yes. Works just the same. You can even cook a chimmichura sauce at the same time in the water bath to go with your flank. Just make sure not to sear thinner cuts of meat that long after the sous vide and i always let my meat cool for a few minutes and dry it off before searing.
  17. I've been using a sous vide for few years now. You're gonna love it. Its a game changer. Perfectly cooked meat every time.
  18. I have used the Elite 5x for a couple of years. It has worked great for me.
  19. Ya saw this today at the show. Guy told me that it was totally legal as the rod still sets the hook. Couldn't believe the price tag. $130 for the base that jigs your rod up and down. lol. I wouldn't think that the batteries on the thing would work very long in -20 degree temps. And can you imagine the chunk of ice that would form on your line.
  20. I'll be there. Looking forward to it.
  21. There are also apps you can download that will show you how to tie all kinds of knots.
  22. No stretch with flouro
  23. Do this. Nice long leader. You want your leader line in your spool when the fish gets to the hole.
  24. Not any good ice yet. Walleye doesn't open until Jan 1st.
  25. Really want to get a Burbot this year.
