  1. Was just going to message you Al, was wondering how you guys made out. So glad things went well for you! Abbey is a special place as far as I'm concerned. Most of the deeper lakes in that region that I've fished have those blue tinged walleye. It's not in their slime coat either, but part of their colouration. Never seen anything like it anywhere else. Glad you got to meet Martin and Jennifer, they're two of my favourite people. Cheers
  2. Actually tons of guys use pancake batter especially when deep frying, it's great. One time years ago when guiding I bought a box of what I thought was buttermilk pancake mix for my guests shore lunch. Turns out it was blueberry pancake mix. I was appalled, thought it tasted vile, like a gigantic fishy blueberry fritter. They liked it though, so who's to say?
  3. Nice pic dude! I need more pic's of me. 328 shots on my camera and 90% of them are of you.LOL! And Brad, Bill did get at least one phenominal bit of mouse eating footage on film. I have a couple of clips on my point and shoot but they don't compare.
  4. Big congrat's to the both of you, that's what it's all about!
  5. We were fishing on shore. I was 30' upstream from Bill and he was maybe 20' upstream from the canoe where our gun was. The bear was maybe 20' upstream from me. You do the math.
  6. Yes indeed. It was an occurence that now looking back only adds spice to the story. At the time though it was a bit unsettling. Without playing the spoiler there's a truly great tale to be told.
  7. Nope, Billy fired 3 slugs at it. I did however have to run to the canoe and break off a 3lb brookie I was quite intently and obliviously fighting at the time on my fly rod. Good times.
  8. Nothing downloaded yet Chris, but hundreds upon hundreds of 3-4lb brookies mostly on topwater mouse patterns. Just mind blowing. We were also chased by a polar bear LOL!
  9. Outstanding! I know how much you were anticipating this trip, very glad to see it went so well. Looks as though you won the weather lottery as well!
  10. Way to go Trev, glad things went well for you up there.
  11. Oh yeah? I left my wallet on the roof once and drove two hours north without realizing it. Was still there when I stopped for gas. I guess there was a lot of change in it LOL! Stuff like that happens to most people. We are human after all.
  12. Wish I could see the videos, all I have here is red X'S. By the sounds of things you deserve some congratulations!
  13. Glad to see you guys had a good day! Cheers
  14. That's quite an accomplishment, big congrat's to your daughter!
  15. Wow, don't even know what to say, that's amazing!
  16. Thanks guys, it was a blast. On a realated note I cruised the entire park to suss out the very best campsites for future trips. 'Course it's subjective, but if anyone's interested drop me a line. Just a bit. It's unreal how it gets into everything. Already told you, but the rod is fantastic. It's exactly what I was hoping for. My daughter had a panic attack when we walked past the park boundary. There's a huge sign warning about ticks LOL! We're fine, we didn't really stray from the beach. Anyhow in my experience they're at their worst earlier in the season.
  17. Looks like fun, kinda like some of the portages I've done. Good luck!
  18. With the date for my Hudsons Bay trip quickly approaching I cleared my callendar this week to spend a bit of time with the kids. Long Point has been one of our favourite destinations for a while now. It's close to home, the beach is spectacular, and many of the campsites are just steps away. We were lucky enough to reserve one adjacent to the beach and just spent two glorious days basking in the sun. No bugs, warm sunshine, a light breeze and happy kids. It doesn't get any better.
  19. What you never said anything? Just saw this now, congrat's to Madison, that's fantastic!
