  1. No. The only thing I have suitable is a custom built lightweight Sage spey rod, Islander reel and brand new skagit line. I'd have a really hard time lending it to anyone. But you're welcome to it IF YOU PROMISE TO BE CAREFUL.
  2. You cannot drift flies under your float using centrepin rod/reel. Must be traditional fly fishing gear. Also you cannot add weight (split shot) to your line. Depth is achieved by the use of sink tip lines and the like.
  3. Didn't realize the new job entailed a move to Winnipeg. Good for you though, nice to see you get ahead in your field!
  4. With a little tweaking that could be a Seinfeld rant. Personally I don't like 'em, they make the back of my head numb.
  5. Islander....the Honda Civic of centrepins.
  6. Right on Jay glad to see you got out. You movin' back to the Soo anytime soon?
  7. Very nice Roy glad to see your perseverence paid off.
  8. Well that was short and to the point LOL! Glad I could steer you in the right direction bud.
  9. Very nice Jacques. Is there an actual "slot" in your zone? In my part of QC it's a 12" minimum.
  10. Very cool Cliff. I'm guessing you hedged on taking pic's of the armed soldiers to include in your report? How come?
  11. This is exactly what I would do. Then offer to replace the cowling yourself.
  12. Truly amazing although "coaster" isn't the proper term even if it's migratory.
  13. 1.Not likely 2.Yes obviously 3.Who would admit to an illegal practice? 4.There already are 5.Only the ignorant
  14. Quite a story Albert, glad it turned out okay! (btw I just got your phone message late on Sat. )
  15. Unless I'm married to a salmon that comment makes no sense whatsoever.
  16. Thanks everyone for the kind remarks. The response has been overwhelming both publicly and via pm.
  17. Excellent report, definitely interesting about the sonar.
  18. More good input. Myself if the weeds are higher and I don't want to burn a single buck in, I've always just used a lighter spinner with a larger blade.
  19. Some excellent thoughts. Although I'd argue the point that all baits are meant to catch fishermen.
  20. Hey I'm not a musky guy. Just because I think I'm right doesn't make it so. I made the thread to solicit responses from anglers more experienced with these baits than myself, in the hopes that my thoughts would be confirmed. For all I knew these tandem spinners are like musky and pike kryptonite. Deadly destroyers of giant fish LOL!
  21. When fishing dead slow estuary waters, using an actual jig head allows you to use little to no shot below your float. Used in conjunction with a self cocking (stem is weighted) pencil float it's a deadly way to rig, very finesse, and usually accounts for more fish.
  22. I think I will. Thanks for the insightful comment. Thank you for your input Marc, your confirming exactly what I thought.
