  1. I'll let you know for sure. For what it's worth the guy said there was a 60% savings on heating bills. We were specifically looking west mountain since I work at the airport and my wife in downtown Hamilton. The place we bought is in a dead end street just off 20 Rd. Basically the corner of Garth and 20. Great area, great house, wicked lot and most important great school right around the corner.
  2. Thanks for the info Gerritt. I'll get more info on the unit later this week. But all I know it's a standard duct system with a fan driven furnace. It's hooked up in conjunction with a normal looking water heater. No rad's or in floor heating...
  3. As many of you guys know it's been a stressful couple of weeks. On the plus side we sold our house in Grimsby privately in a week simply by sticking a sign in the lawn. On the downside the closing is June 25th and we've been scrambling to find something to purchase. Arriving back from my brook trout trip we drove through the night and I got home around 9am. Was home for an hour and my wife had me out the door looking at 5 properties LOL! We've looked relentlessly for the last 8 days with zero luck. In fact it's been amazingly depressing. Probably been through 30 or more houses in a very specific search area. In this sellers market anything decent in my area is going very quickly, many times for more than list. Most of the properties are just gross. Anyhow we looked at a property on Sunday and loved it to death. It's a massive upgrade in every way to our current place in Grimsby, and needless to say we put an offer in. Just received the official word that it's ours. Guys I'm so happy right now you wouldn't believe it! Anyhow I have a question. Apparantly there's a new "Aqua Thermal" furnace in this house. I've never even heard of the term before. I searched on the net and there's very little info out there.. Is anyone familiar with these things? Are they any good? Thanks
  4. Just had to say, reading this I'm picturing either Bill Dance in one of his blooper tapes or a bad Chevy Chase movie.
  5. Dude sorry but that's just hilarious!! (Nice camper though!)
  6. There's tons of info on the web bud, I dredged this up in a second: http://www.wildlandsleague.org/display.aspx?pid=231&cid=233 It's near the coast of James Bay and the village of Attawapiskat.
  7. I havn't shopped there a lot but you're right. The guy on Upper James is unbelievably nice and friendly.
  8. Nice slabs! It's always nice to intoduce someone to fishing, the fact it's your bro is even better.
  9. You're right Steve is a great guy, I've known him for years.
  10. Exactly, which is why 90% of my purchases are made online.
  11. I didn't reply to the poll because only one of my criteria was there. For me only 2 things matter : selection and price. I could care less about customer service, friendliness or whatever. (I should say if someone is blatantly unfriendly I won't shop there regardless of how good the store is. Case in point Grimsby Tackle which is just down the road from me)
  12. Ken Collins up in Troutfitters is okay. If anything he usually talks too much. I'm amazed they were selling minnows in his shop in the first place LOL! Far, far worse is John Valk of Grindstone Angling in Waterdown (another high end fly shop). He's one of the most arrogant elitist's I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with.
  13. Google "chest packs". They've been around in one form or another for eons. Some of the larger ones made for flyfishermen are very similar to what you posted.
  14. How about the pike? Are they still in the shallows near the creek mouths? What are water temps?
  15. Good luck bud! No worries on leaving any, there's plenty. T.O. to Nakina is roughly 13-14 hours. The best route by far is hwy 11 all the way to Geraldton then jog up to Nakina on 584. There are other routes but they're more convoluted and the highways are slower. This is by far the quickest route. Hopefully you guys have booked the motel in Nakina for the night before. If not you'll likely be outta luck at this late date. On a side note any chance you could fly me in a case of beer?
  16. I'm not a Habs fan, but beyond Halak I've just been amazed by Camelleri. His size, skill and feistiness reminds me of Gilmour in his glory days. Calgary gave Dougie away to the Leafs back in the day. I think they hung their hat on the wrong guy last summer when they kept Iginla. Anyhow beyond last night it's been exciting hockey to watch. I aint gonna wish the Habs luck but I can still admire them (jealously ). Go Flyers! (I'm not a Philly fan either, I just despise them less. )
  17. I saw that myself. Very sad indeed and unfortunately a pretty common occurence in the north. Fortunately the area I'll be fishing next month is far upstream.
  18. Dan my fingers are crossed for you. Crappy situation, but you just never know. Lew, that's just plain crazy and any normal person would agree with your response.
  19. I'd be curious to know how deep the guys are catching the fish in. (The ones that are doing well) Obviously Marvin caught them suspended deeper. For a Kawarthas lake my first instinct would be to concentrate on shallow weedlines in 6-12' of water.
  20. Beautiful wild fish Mike, nicely done!
  21. I'm actually using them in conjunction with the solar system for lighting my camp. We're on the 3rd season with them and they've been just unreal so far.
  22. Wow, looks like an absolutely perfect day on the water. Good stuff bud!
  23. I have a couple of Universal 12 volt 97.6 amp/hours gel cel batteries. Believe me when I tell you nothing can touch them.
