Morning All As some of you may know I have be dableing in a long lost skill set trying to get my chops back. I admit over the last couple of years fishing has taken a back seat to pavement and rubber. back in the 80's when I first saw it I was amazed absolutely nothing like it same recipie for 20 plus years I came I saw and I played . Well this year I decided to step into the 21st century and the smily face continues. Meet the new DOGTOWN EXPRESS as the great John luc Piccard says.....ENGAGE!!! Cheers Peter The pictures do it no justice

http://atlantic.ctvnews.ca/search-underway-for-fishermen-after-boat-capsizes-off-n-s-1.1161129 Its weird I feel like i have an ice pick through my heart right now in all likely hood I either grew up with a parent of one of these guys or a good chance Im releated to one of them every time this happens i feel very cold. It is a rough life very rewarding but very rough and the crews that work rescue in that neck of the woods are some of the best on the planet my thoughts are with the families of these men and the crews going out to rescue them. the light is on Peter

shiny spoons shiny stick and crank baits and leaders dont forget the leaders just as the sun comes up and before it goes down try to catch the tides coming up get a tide table for the week your there you cant beat silver if you use shrimp from the resort you can catch all the bait you need to put on a hook right through the middle of its back and throw it out. If you dont catch fish when you are there you will be required to sell all your gear when you get home unless you really want to dont try and target specific fish there is a wide variety there and they are always hungry watch what the locals are doing

keep in mind that a jacket does not necessarily mean that its approved alot of times 2 piece systems need both parts worn together to meet the standard. Peter -
the big key to all this is to stay dry i dont mean falling in the water wet but persperation.it is a bad deal at night you dont want to be so warm you sweat like ron said roll your cloths up and put them in your sleeping bag down the sides just me but i sleep in just my under wear (hat and socks as well) and wake in the morning step outside pull my nice toasty cloths out get dressed and start the day .....trust me it works. and mounding snow on the outside helps as well. a good insulating ground cover is a must. Cheers

Lets try to reason this out a bit First let me say I have no love lost for seals. Once upon a time they were not an issue. The inshore fishermen led a happy life and so did they. Along comes the giant offshore dragger fleet by the 100rds. Fishing is now a share holder event and the little guys are left out add in to the mix some weird insatiable fixation on shark fins let this play out for a decade and a half and you know where this is headed I don’t blame the seals still though no love lost. Now picture present day you are trying to scrabble a living fishing you have been slapped with one quota after another to the point it is almost not worth going. Draggers and shark finners are full tilt and the destroyed off catch is enough to make you hurl just so you no if its not in the quota over the side it goes now if you were a fish compressed at the bottom of multiple tons of other fish what do you think your chances are of survival. Make no mistake this is not an easy life its what you know, your fathers fathers knew back 300 or so years. You’ve spent the better part of a day and a half steaming out to your spot another day dropping gear and now the wait. So couple days later you start pulling gear and the results are light on any particular trawl you seem to be doing alright not great alright. You come to your halibut spot and start pulling good run on restaurant fish they pay more per pound then the bigger fish. Next tub you start hitting big fish things are looking good lots of 150’ s line loads up must be big fish coming you get it to the side of the boat and its chewed ruined couple more like this and you see the line is acting funny coming in, low and behold a seal attached to the next 200lber and he has got a lock on it like a pitbull. The solution is in the boat you draw the conclusion. I don’t blame the seals but a living needs to be made and there is nothing else in the water dealing with them the population is explosive and the patience of fishermen is very thin. Just saying

AH hahahahahaha that is the best one i have ssen in awhile almost fell of my chair I have no pity for the seals I have seen first hand there destructive nature cruel or whatever you wish to call this If it were my living to fish I can tell you there would be alot of floaters...Just saying

I’m no rock star I have a 100W Marshall Tube hybrid combo JMD1 and a 4x12 but I am really considering putting it up on consignment and getting one of these. http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetails.php?ProductId=1241 I don’t jam in a band just solely for my amusement Don’t get me wrong I love Marshall’s and it will make the dogs run away and glass wear shake off shelves, from the first time I heard one live "there can be only one " but this little unit is unbelievable has effects jam along and the best part it really truly sounds good you owe it to yourself to take “your Guitars to a shop plug in and check one out I don’t think you will be disappointed. Rock out with your.... out Peter

All I can say is this wherever you go to sllepp in the house make sure it is dark no light day or night you will adjust but you cannot put of the sleep eat your meals normally or eat a bunch of small meals throughout the shift you will adapt but it wont happen right away most important thing though is the total darkness its a must and watch this it may give you some insight. http://www.cbc.ca/natureofthings/episode/lights-out.html remember force yourself to sleep i know it sounds funny sometimes not easy to do but you need to do it and religiously. good luck advice from a long time shifter Peter
