Lets try to reason this out a bit First let me say I have no love lost for seals. Once upon a time they were not an issue. The inshore fishermen led a happy life and so did they. Along comes the giant offshore dragger fleet by the 100rds. Fishing is now a share holder event and the little guys are left out add in to the mix some weird insatiable fixation on shark fins let this play out for a decade and a half and you know where this is headed I don’t blame the seals still though no love lost. Now picture present day you are trying to scrabble a living fishing you have been slapped with one quota after another to the point it is almost not worth going. Draggers and shark finners are full tilt and the destroyed off catch is enough to make you hurl just so you no if its not in the quota over the side it goes now if you were a fish compressed at the bottom of multiple tons of other fish what do you think your chances are of survival. Make no mistake this is not an easy life its what you know, your fathers fathers knew back 300 or so years. You’ve spent the better part of a day and a half steaming out to your spot another day dropping gear and now the wait. So couple days later you start pulling gear and the results are light on any particular trawl you seem to be doing alright not great alright. You come to your halibut spot and start pulling good run on restaurant fish they pay more per pound then the bigger fish. Next tub you start hitting big fish things are looking good lots of 150’ s line loads up must be big fish coming you get it to the side of the boat and its chewed ruined couple more like this and you see the line is acting funny coming in, low and behold a seal attached to the next 200lber and he has got a lock on it like a pitbull. The solution is in the boat you draw the conclusion. I don’t blame the seals but a living needs to be made and there is nothing else in the water dealing with them the population is explosive and the patience of fishermen is very thin. Just saying

I’m no rock star I have a 100W Marshall Tube hybrid combo JMD1 and a 4x12 but I am really considering putting it up on consignment and getting one of these. http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetails.php?ProductId=1241 I don’t jam in a band just solely for my amusement Don’t get me wrong I love Marshall’s and it will make the dogs run away and glass wear shake off shelves, from the first time I heard one live "there can be only one " but this little unit is unbelievable has effects jam along and the best part it really truly sounds good you owe it to yourself to take “your Guitars to a shop plug in and check one out I don’t think you will be disappointed. Rock out with your.... out Peter

All I can say is this wherever you go to sllepp in the house make sure it is dark no light day or night you will adjust but you cannot put of the sleep eat your meals normally or eat a bunch of small meals throughout the shift you will adapt but it wont happen right away most important thing though is the total darkness its a must and watch this it may give you some insight. http://www.cbc.ca/natureofthings/episode/lights-out.html remember force yourself to sleep i know it sounds funny sometimes not easy to do but you need to do it and religiously. good luck advice from a long time shifter Peter

Here is a little suggestion Canadian military surplus for winter stuff it is tough to beat Just saying I dont know what the goose stuff is like now at one time it was expensive great quality and bullet proof but it was elite it seems to be very main stream now not saying quality has dropped but i cant see it being the same as it was I could be very wrong on this but it seems more a fashion statement now as opposed to a survival garment. Well I have to agree here I fish on the low end of the price spectrum I have quite a bit but dont spend alot. reels i spend a bit of money on as far as rods go i like the dime a dozen I do catch alot of fish and big fish I dont care about catching 99% of the time i just like getting out unless its a grudge match or im meat hunting. You dont need fancy gear to fish my opinion its a big load. Barbie rods rock Peter

i agree time to put the axe to them my buddy lives down the road in aberfoyle near a tap and his water levels(and others ) have been way off since they started to really pump he thinks even the chemistry of the water is changing on a side note no rock house condo skyscraper bridge or any other aggregate based thing is worth the destruction of a billions of year old water filter

Dont know if this helps you or not close to 10 years ago we bought what i consider one of the best investments we have ever made. went to a place called Royal matress Manufacturing I believe it was on columbus road in etobikoke/toronto. Anyway it was made the way we wanted it its a double pillow i kid you not its 2 feet plus thick kingsize and i religiously turn and flip it. it has not given up one inch and i have not had a sore back as long as we have had it shoulder as well for that matter it was 1700 cash out the door may seem pricey but you get what you pay for. You have to be anal about flipping and turning and a good quality matress pad is a must. If comes the time i need another i will be going back to the same place i can tell you that this matress takes an extreme beating You wont be disapointed JM2C Peter
