  1. Seems the in thing around here is taking the insides out of an old small camping trailers , putting some sort of skies on them and cutting trap doors for the holes.
  2. Nothing like roughing it if you can, but still be comfortable. If your uncomfortable without people around, just find a Provincial Park, If you like to be alone, find a lake and a shoreline, or just map recce and find a trail to car camp. Ive used my Ranger as a Bed with the cap on. Its small but cozy. Most Ive my work is done at home prepping, even splitting wood, as I dont like to waste time at the camp site. Here's my examples. In ten minutes my camp is set up including sleeping gear. box of wood, chair, camping gear in my tool trunk which doubles as a table. A tarp, cheap one man, 2 pole easy set up tent, with cushion and sleeping bag, clothes act as a pillow. Sleeping gear, tent clothes in a Hockey Bag. Toilet is a white pail with garbage bags, also doubles as garbage pail. Ive also stored wood with it The tool trunk is ideal, although heavy as it has two removable trays. Food stuffs in one, misc in the other. Leatherman, can goods, cooking oil, spray, KFS, coffee, sugar and creamer mix, bucket with lighter, flashlights, batteries, headlamp, chem lights etc, bug net, toilet paper, contact gloves, bug juice, compass/map, soap and towel, portable speaker with MP3 Player Bottom tray with, stove, cook set, grate, water, garbage bags, lantern, hatchet, bowsaw, first aid kit, army rations. Dont forget the cooler with your favorite drinks and steak for the BBQ
  3. As a kid I would take fishing notes and tips and put them in a journal. I even signed out this library book Fishing For Kids over 20 times. I still have the book to prove ( some how aquired) it with the library card from school. The Old man and the Sea was my favorite all time movie at that time. Spenser Tracy was an awesome actor and I dont think he said two words to anybody. It was him and the fish alone that he was talking too. Great movie.
  4. LOL ,Yuk, I think if I had the money it would be a mounter for sure, hanging up somewhere in the Man Cave.
  5. Wow, is Sparrow Lake north of Barrie, a small cottage type lake? Seems I might of passed it a few times along the Highway thinking it was fished out. Nice Musky though.
  6. WOW good find, thanks. Hence the dog statues and maybe his favorite lake,
  7. So I arrive to the trailer and I find out I have no water. Seems when I talked to the town administrator last week and asked them where my water bill was, the Brain Dead Numpty decided to cut me off without any warning. Too bad they were closed, lucky for them, I guess, I have to deal with them on the phone which sucks as I wont be able to see their faces when I call them incompetant. I should grab my valve wrench from work and turn it on myself as they wont know the difference. Anyways good thing I kept a 5 gallon Jug of water that I had from the last winter when I had the water drained for the season. Saturday I decided that I would head North and try out Dugout Lake using the Canoe. The road just got sloppy the more North I went. I passed a CO who had a culprit in their vehicle and I could see that he was being written up. Its Hunting season now and this guy is stopping everyone. He let me pass as he was busy I guess. I get to the Trail at Dugout and there was no way I was going to chance it. I turned around and headed south and I decided maybe Hackett Lake would be the ticket. No way, too windy for the Canoe. I met up with 3 Hunters who I would say were in their early 30s. They were drinking coffee around their ATVs. They looked pretty ragged and I suspect that they were in the Bush for a few days. I got some Int on the condition of some of the Lakes and I decided Ill take my chance on a wind sheltered drive to lake ,TOP Lake, which is close to my trailer anyways. I told the hunters that the CO was probably on their way up and they seemed anxious about getting things in order I thought. This time MR CO stops me and asks how the Hunting is. I says no man, Im fishing, he asks hows the fishing is and jokes about catching icebergs and checks my license. He and his young underling are having a good day catching offenders and he says there are lots. So off to Top Lake I go. Here is what I find in the Parking Area on the ground below a makeshift hoist. Two butchered Moose carcasses left there to rot. My question is, is it ethical even legal to just butcher a moose and just leave it. They were fresh kills because I found fresh blood pools right down to the launch and a small blood pool in the water on the bottom. What is this, I found two of these spots between the launch and the carcass. It looks like stomach contents, but no blood, however there is some sort of organ with it. And it stank near shore but it wasn't rotting flesh, I know that smell well enough to know. It was something else and it was sickening. I couldn't tell where it was from though. The ravens where having a gorge-fest. Also, is it normal not to take the legs. The fishing was slow, I trolled using a sinking Rapala and caught this little guy at 11 feet. I teased Spike a little bit This one is a little bigger Never the less the lake was beautiful, could be my last day of the season This time I had time to actually go to shore and check out this monument on one of the Islands. I dont know what the story is on this guy I can only guess, hmm sad only 27. So its getting dark and I thought about those carcases and Bears. Better get to my truck before they get there. I also thought about those 3 hunters also
  8. Good Call. Driving from Wasaga to Angus was bad enough during some of those snow storms.
  9. Just a suggestion, I wouldnt be going to any Bar that I know of in Saskatchewan, especially Big River as your buddy would be lucky just to be laughed at. Im still laughing at the picture. Thanks.
  10. LOL You guys are spooking me. I'm not sure, but I think the Bear Hunt is on Here, I better check before I go fishing this weeknd I HOPE. Good read though, nice to see both sides on this great topic, Thanks.
  11. Worst Division in Hockey, unfortunately anyone that wants to see an Eastern Canadian team do something in the Playoffs may be out of luck. When are the Habs going to learn that you cannot play a European type Game with small players. Unless they are building for the future, banking on that the Anti-fighting and Hitting Crazies get their way. But its got to spread West and South to the States.
  12. Is there alcohol involved? If there is, Im not allowed.
  13. Yea, it is embarrassing to fail, but then again, I love a guy that has failed and can pick himself up. Kind of reminds me of someone and the friends he has hung around with. Was the Pathfinder squirming and shimming going up that steep incline? My Ranger will just, well, slide
  14. I Take Offense in what you say, STOP BAD MOUTHING ME other wise Im hitting the MOD Panic Button. That is if I can find it. My Ford Ranger Rocks, oil pan leak 75,999 KM, 3 x warning sensor replacements including the sensor for the sensor etc etc
  15. All I can say is that I wish I had that Nissan over my 99 Ford Ranger. I would of never made the start point at the Bottom of the Hill. Its snowing now, the Last two weeks Record Lows, Farmers are Taking a Huge hit. This is when they should be thrashing. Tomorrow plus 6, and Saturday plus 14. I would have more confidence in that Pathfinder, going up the trail that I hope to fish Saturday than using my Ranger that made it when the trail was dry. By the way, I have a small dog, small truck, the Pathfinder is macho enough for me.
  16. LOL ,I think the Barrack Room Lawyer meant YOU"ALL only I can say it with an Accent
  17. yup, or reliving some moments of your life that you experienced and treasure in a nice warm house and a nice cup of coffee. CHIMO
  18. Its Freezing out, the shorelines are getting iced up. and I got caught by this cold weather spell and I'm hoping my outboard is not freezing up. then there is the water pipes at the Trailer, I should be OK as I left the heat on I just hope its warm enough under the trailer. Anyways I found some cool vids I like the written caption on the end. I knew a guy the smacked the side of his head when he exited hitting the side of his head, knocked himself out. A static line is attached to the rail and will automatically open the chute. Each jumper also has a reserve chute in case that he must manually open in case of a static line problem. The most dangerous part of the jump is losing your air from another jumper above you. Landing on ice IE frozen lakes is probably one of the most dangerous LZ because it is hard to distinguish distance to the ground so its hard to prep for. The equipment like the ruck will be released before landing attached to a cord and will land first.
  19. Well i wouldnt brag about Habs fans too much, as soon as you do, well they pull something stupid. Remember the Riot after winning one game in the Playoffs a couple of years ago. However as far as Sens fans are, What can I say, Plastic, if Molson Ex changed the looks of their bottle, Ottawans will change brands, because, well its Preppy, went to a bar and I watched two men, I think, cat fighting, went to a hockey game, felt out of place because I should of worn a suit and watched the game with my cell phone. They deserve Alfie. Only fans that can call him an Idol.
  20. Elbow to Tucker, couldnt happened to a better man, except Alfie. Hey Id trade Hammer-Lick, SpotPuK, Webber and (except one token Markov) the Canadians have any day to have a rough nose like Komiserek. Right now, the Canadians Def is just not cutting it, WOW they havent won a game against a Western team in the West in six years. They are just too wimpy and small.
  21. To think that I travel 2.5 hours to my trailer then add an hour to some fishing, if Im not mistaken you can reach Kenora in the amount of time, settle in, launch and then be at a fishing hole. Awesome.
  22. You know, Winnipeg I think is a great place that is close to some fabulous fishing. What, Kenora is a couple of hours away, Red Lake, Rainy Lake, Lake Winnipeg and those Rivers up north. What an hour and a bit. Then there is the Red River, Biggest Cats in all of Canada. You just got to hope that it doesn't end up in your Basement. Im curious though, have you fished any other bodies of water around Winter-Peg? How were they? Love your reports, keep em coming
  23. Not sure whats going on up there, but from what I know of the Algonquin Park perimeter Deep River areas, the problem was over harvesting Lake Trout in the Winter. Seems they are easier to catch, but probably the real reason was easier to get to because of the Snowmobile. Maybe a winter band is in order for a couple of seasons before the fishery continues to collapse.
