what a great thread so far. im not saying its funny that the truck is at the bottom of the lake, just the way the thread plays out and your matter of fact updates. i put my chevy into temagami about 10 years back on the ice road going to the south arm. it happens.

tommy thayer was ace freleys replacement for glamband KISS, who are, of course, awesome. tommy went from cover band COLDGIN to the real thing and now dresses up as ace freley dressed up as a spaceman. got any hard ones? -

ADVICE on a good ice fishing reel...
smally21 replied to Familyfisherman's topic in General Discussion
if yer tired of using crap stop buying it. 5 or 6 crappy reels equals 150$, 1 good one equals 60-70. i like the sedona in this price range and i use them year round at 750 for perch and ice, but 1000 or 1500 if there was to be just one. the abu garcia cardinal is a nice reliable reel for the money. i dont fish enough ice to be a good source but im a long time shimano fan. lots of hits on the sierra im think im going to have to try one. good luck i think all of these suggestions beat using yer hands but good on the guys that do! my hands get too cold to hold a beer can out there! -
i have the fin 8" - if i did it again id get the six - always end up perching and the 8" hole is a waste of effort!

there are hundreds of uniform and regalia rules for police, fire and military funerals. hats, badges, salutes, black bands, etc. typically the black band, whether adorning a vehicle, patch, badge etc. signifies a line of duty death. as such an active police or fire officer who died a non duty death would not (properly) have black band coverings. there are another set of rules covering a retired police officer or firefighter. the family, and the officer themselves often have made decisions as to the style of funeral they choose at some point in their career. (often after some sort of near miss!). i'm sure there are many who can go further in depth or clarify these generalities. there are some honor guard types that get quite offended when uniform and regalia rules aren't followed to the letter. IMHO regardless of where one wears their badge that day or what hand your hat is in a show of respect of any kind is appreciated by all members of the emergency services and military. Rest in peace Officer Russell.

the one in the pics is pretty nice. the panels use 3 different pieces jointed together, and the build appears to use actual woodworking methods as opposed to fasteners. if you just want a rod rack that is one thing, this furniture quality piece would take quite a bit of time. the bass pro one you could probably duplicate for 90 yourself, but the one in the pic would be hundreds of dollars for a furniture/cabinet guy to make. say 20 feet of lumber @ 3$/ft, planing, jointing, cutting, plate joint and glue up the panels, sanding, assembly + clamping, sanding, staining, sanding, staining, steel wool, clear coat, steel wool, clear coat, steel wool, clear coat, buffing and polishing, wax and polishing, ready to deliver. 90$ is starting to look pretty good! this project would take every tool in the shop and probably days - not hours to make. in fact if it wasn't for myself or a gift i doubt anyone would pay enough to make it worthwhile! But if you weren't looking for a furniture quality piece it could be built with minimal tools out of plywood, edge banded, then stained and clear coated, or maybe out of a select pine or something similar and just clear coated or oiled. i suppose the difference would be is it going to be in the garage or a centerpiece in the formal dining room. this is probably the reason i dont display my rods. thanks for showing the pics of the rod rack it looks like an interesting project.

i have an 80lb terrova on a stratos excursion at around 18 feet and 2200 lbs. the 24 volt system has plenty of power for my boat in any weather, and the batteries last for an entire weekend of fishing without a charge. i can set the bow mount motor straight and steer with the big motor on long trolling runs. get the autopilot if you dont want to mess around. i do alot of structure fishing with this setup. just a thought if you are constantly pulling the electric in and out the terrova has no assist, if you haven't got the terrova yet you may want to consider the maxxum in the 80 lb class..... welcome to the board oh and my 115 2stroke johnson has incredible fuel economy even vs a 4stroke

pointing out the disreputable actions of a police officer is not police bashing. great to see it on video. likely story - blah blah investigation by fellow cops blah blah training policy departmental procedure blah blah use of force practices blah blah paid suspension blah blah acted within department policy complaint dismissed!!!

in the bigger picture, these are pretty small, light boats we are talking about. its not like we're winching up a 28' cabin cruiser, so the choice between bunks and rollers is about maintenance, storage, personal opinion. the setup i always suggested to my customers who were on the fence were four bunks at the rear and a set or roller arms at the front. you have all the advantages of bunks at the rear (where the loading isn't an issue) and the anti friction advantage of rollers at the front for shallow ramps. bump up the size of your winch helps as well, but again pretty light boats we're talking about. properly set up roller trailers grab the boat earlier than bunks and align the boat better than full length bunk trailers. if you never dry load/unload your boat and your not in the boat moving business an all roller isn't what i would suggest. however as stated earlier if you have any loading doubts throw some rollers on the front. as always if anyone wants to talk trailers pm me ive built hundreds of custom trailers from seadoos to 50 foot hustlers to 38 foot cruisers.... good luck enjoy the new boat.

Lake Temagami ice update and an airboat ride.

kudos on taking a cab. who's at fault for parking illegally and getting ticketed? sorry KF but parking ticket rants usually come down to the same thing, i parked in a no parking zone, or in front of a store instead of the lot that was empty, i was only a few minutes, etc. not trying to start something but just sayin' it was never the parking authority or the city that put the car in the illegal spot.... just sayin' merry xmas.

tarion will just drag their heels until the warranty expires. i rarely here of anyone getting satisfaction from them. good building codes do not equal good building practices. the majority of new homes are not thouroughly inspected anyway, lots of builders in our area are 'pre approved' as they have been around forever. nice to see all these guys willing to help you out. i have a feeling your garage door fix is going to grow and GROW.!!!!

i was always taught to finance what you need and buy what you want. but i have found im much better at making payments than i am at saving. just wanted to second the secured line of credit its the cheapest money you can borrow and the bank stays out of your purchases. good luck

my sisters home inspection stated the air conditioner worked but was older and would need replacement. i went to check it out there was no power to the unit, just a rusty old wire cut about 3 feet short of the unit obviously hadnt worked in years. inspector said must hve been cut since his inspection and, of course, he assumes no liablity for anything that happens. fortunately there is now a fairly comprehensive certification process thru community colleges for these guys of course that doesn't mean the guy you hire is certified or will take the time req'd. i find it hard to beleive how many of these guys aren't builders or tradesman. IF THERE IS NO LIABLITY ON THESE GUYS THEN THERE IS NO REASON FOR THEM TO A GOOD JOB. IF THEY DONT DO A GOOD JOB THEN THERE IS NO POINT IN HAVING THE INSPECTION!!!! What a shame just another layer added to the already overcomplicated, bloated real estate, banking process.

if i could only own one saw (imagine only 1 saw!)_ it would be a stihl 260 with 18" bar. big enough for felling and bucking, small enough for limbing. easy to find dealers and parts. get the 250 if you dont want to part with the extra dough. i spend most of my cutting time on a jonsered 2145 but there is a stihl dealer in every town youk now?

i bought mine of ebay pretty cheap but it was a coupe of years old. 2010 cards are 200+ but you can get a 2008 for around 60. still the same lake you know?
