  1. I truly believe the result of much of the cracked welds are due to power loading the boat on a trailer, which is specifically advised against by the manufacturer. Those boats are not meant to be power loaded on a trailer. That is Bull (on Tracker's behalf, not yours) - power loading a boat if done properly, puts no additional stress on the hull - you don't ram it on the trailer, u snuggle it up and then give it enough gas to push it into place - FAR less force on the hull than hitting waves and equivalent to the force needed to move it the same distance with the winch. A lot of people are suggesting he avoid Tracker and I think that is very good advice. Lund has a transferable lifetime warranty and that is what I would buy if money was no issue. I have owned two Crestliner Fish Hawks and love them. The nicest aluminums I have ever seen are the Lund Predator - WOW, followed by the Pro-V. Landry
  2. Thanks Dan - did not know that. Why is the Grca not providing a trail for portaging canoes or pulling in ice equipment - is it not part of their mandate to allow access to public waters in their jurisdiction - they are funded by us, the taxpayers after al. I have had a few problems with the ski school out there. The owner is a good guy but a couple of the young punks that work for him are rude and arrogant and do think they own the lake. It is a great little spot - one I don't want to lose as it is 4 minutes from me. Landry
  3. It is their private land so it is well within their rights to close their access spot. The GRCA or Ministry should step up and buy a small access property so us poor people can access this public water. Landry
  4. Just saying - those are not rock bottom yet - wait until Jan/Feb and Cabelas usually has crazy deals on electronics and map chips. I can see you are trying to help - I didn't mean to offend you. Sorry. Landry
  5. That's hardly rock-bottom!???
  6. Thanks for the great post and especially for not naming the water you are fishing. I like fishing stories and reports - I just think advertising the location with a title like "went 20 for 30" is a bad idea. I used to laugh at people who photoshopped the background out of the picture but now I think it is the right thing to do - my opinion. If I want to show and tell on the internet, I am cautious not to ruin other people's fishing spots/plans by inviting everyone and their brother down the next day. Those are some nice chromies. Landry
  7. I feel your pain.Go to Bay City - they are the best and they will get on this job for you! Mine died within 60 days of the sale but I would pressure the people you bought the boat to alter the date on the sales receipt, seeing as they screwed it up! Yes - I know that is a little crooked BUT they are the ones playing dirty! Good luck!!!!! Landry
  8. I guess there will be even more guys down there cutting each other off now! Nice fish though From what I hear Bondy is a great guy and he has been very friendly when I have seen him on the water. His reports on the internet surely have helped his business, but the number of muskie anglers has definitely increased as a result on the river. See all you guys there next weekend I guess. Landry
  9. Mercury honours warranties on boats imported from the states with no questions asked. I know firsthand - saved $3000!!! You can win this one!!!!!
  10. Craig is dead right!!! Good idea initially but it is time to throw in the towel and spend the $ on fish that will succeed. Supporting/revitalizing wild fisheries is a great idea if the habitat can sustain or support it. It can't - so pack it in! The focus on wild/indigenous stocking is like a religious cult in the MNR nowadays. Not saying we should have cookie cutter steelhead in the thousands in our rivers like the U.S. Erie tribs BUT at least open your eyes to reality = HABITAT DEGRADATION.
  11. I have never had it happen in the niagara - but like I said - there is always one. Thanks goodness for the other 99% of people
  12. I agree and these guys were obviously experienced musky guys.
  13. Huh? It's a big river - not a small steelhead stream. But, fyi, it is rude to muscle in on someone's steelhead spot too - but this is a different situation altogether. It is always rude to motor past someone so you can fish the same shore before they do. Just because we have been de-sensitized to selfishness does not mean that it isn't rude. And yes - I am sensitive when it comes to rudeness cause I was raised to think of others and not just my own needs. Landry
  14. Was on Detroit River today and got cutoff repeatedly by guys who looked as though they should know better (judging by their boats and tackle - they are not new to the sport) By cutoff, I mean they purposely motored past us, and settled down-current 60 yds in front of us so that they could fish the fresh water. Ironically, we saw them in the morning in the same spot, drifting down, and chose to go way up river as they were there first. Greedy, rude people annoy me. This is what made me stop steelheading on foot. Just needed to rant. Have never had this happen on the Niagara.
  15. I agree - just seems a little selfish. On a positive note - that boat looks really clean. Nice rig:) Congratulations! Landry
  16. That was a great video. True - fancy casts don't catch fish. BUT - I have fished some very spooky trout in Montana in open meadows with dry flies that did demand long, delicate slack or curved line casts with very small flies. It is way more fun than roll-casting with an indicator! Landry
  17. I have this unit. I like it. Some maps are detailed - some not. The list is on Navionics site. Once you zoom in you will get the detail you want on the Kawarthas. Kashagawigamog is a not a detailed map btw. I bought an ice transducer, additional mounting bracket, battery and $9 Rona tool box and made my own ice fishing unit so i can use mine in the winter too. Marks teeny jigs and fish in real-time and has gps too. Landry It is a micro sd chip. i can put the mico in the bigger SD card holder and then use it in my older Lowrance LMS unit if I needed to.
  18. Hi Bill, I have a list of steps, do's and don'ts that I have sent a few other guys here. PM me if you want it. Done it twice - saved a ton!!!!!!!!! Landry
  19. If u flyfish then u can likely catch bonefish there. Call John Valk at Grindstone Angling in Waterdown - I think he used to go there and fish bones. I am sure he would give u info if you bought some flies... from him Landry
  20. I run my boat all year. I have it serviced every spring. In October, I change/check my lower unit oil myself. I keep my batteries charged. I put in the recommended winterizing amount of fuel stabilizer, starting in October and keep the tank topped up. I immediately lower the outboard after I pull it from the River so that it can fully drain - then I trim it back up again for the drive. I store it in my uninsulated garage. I don't see any reason to winterize/fog it if it is going to be run once a month, as it sits that long sometimes during warmer months with no worries. Not sure if this is right but this is what I do and I have had no problems. Landry
  21. I got a 25$ card too - thanks for the heads up on their 7 day policy:)
  22. it will be 200 plus 70 = $270 (if u phone it in and ask for free shipping-worked for me)
  23. Price went down again today - now the bibs and jacket can be had for $99 each!!!!!! My XL suit was too big - had to ship it to their return centre in Markham for an exchange - their XL is massive!!!!!!!!!!! (even with 2 layers of fleece). I am a stout, 5'8" and the Large is the right size. FYI, if ordering
  24. Lew is correct, a big screen would be nice, but I can still see my 5" split screen lowrance just fine, and I can't justify the $$$$ for a big screen. Check Cabelas as they often have older Eagle/Lowrance units on sale - go for color though. I have a lowrance elite 5 and it is a good unit - marks fish very well and the mapping is easy to use with a transom mount transducer. You can use it for ice fishing (marks teeny jigs and real-time bites just as well as my friends flasher) too if you get an ice transducer, cheap plastic tool box, mounting bracket and small battery = about $120 You will catch more fish with a gps/sonar unit - no doubt. Landry
  25. Oh and unless I drive 2 hours up north for pike/musky, there really isn't any other option for 20 pound fish from shore =(... is there? Yes - you are correct there!!! Landry
