  1. You won't regret moving in to the country Dan! I made the move in to the bush last year, and haven't looked back. Your questions are all valid, and I had the same ones when purchasing my place. Are you looking to build, or buy an existing house? I looked at lots of houses. And Lots of different methods of heat, and water. The end result of my searching was not exactly what I wanted. But worth the deviation. There's lots of different situations out there, when one method might work better then another. And vis-versa. I've got a 30' drilled well. There is no gas, or high speed internet. I heat with Oil. But have started looking in to other options. The house is about 2500 sq-ft, and my oil bill is $400 a month Jan, and Feb. The only appliance on oil is my furnace. It can take some getting used to the extra bills. Fuel for the cars has doubled. Internet over a bell turbo hub. It's slow at times, and expensive compared to high speed. The bad stuff aside. Everyday driving home feels like I'm going to my cottage. Thousands of acres of forest to play in! And great neighbours close by, but not to close... Morning traffic is usually not an issue. I've seen coyotes, deer, bear, bald eagles, and lots of other cool things on my drives home. Beats the view from my previous short commute thru Barrie's lovely Tiffen st area!
  2. WOW man. A tru Jumbo. I'm at work, so I couldnt watch the Video. I'll check it out when I get home.
  3. Nice hog! Did you get a measurement and weight on it? That thing must have felt like a bass!
  4. Awesome chad! Looking forward to catching up this weekend!

    poopin?

I have never dropped a deuce on the ice before. I spend at least 15 minutes on the can before every trip to make sure of that. I have come home with some wicked stomach aches and absolutely destroyed my bathroom... But have yet this crap on the Ice. Not even when I was in Blair's hut, with a built in bathroom. But the owner of the local doughnut shop / convenience store in Callender must HATE me!
  6. I do something Similar to Fang with the mix and cure. Baked in the oven on low. Turning often. Works great. I've never used a smoker or dehydrator before.
  7. If your good at carbc, then you should be good for any motor issues. How does the blade look? Motor may run good but if the blade is rusted bad, or is dull, it won't cut well. Saw two guys both leaning hard on one gas augar on the weekend. That's what it took to make it cut ice. Either dull, or the in incorrect angle on the blade(s). They can make it a real pain in the but.
  8. A little more mellow. But I can listen their CD front to back, over and over again..
  9. Walmart man! I've had to drop a few hundred on new clothes this month. Worth it though. And incentive to keep the weigh OFF.
  10. Lots of people where fooled by that one.. Including my self for about 15 minutes.
  11. Go shop around and try a bunch of different makes and models. Try em all on, even if you don't like the looks. There has to be one out there that fits just right. I might suggest you try a Salus Endurance class. They fit a little different then the others.
  12. How you holding up Pete? Here's some food (shakes) for thought. I recently lost a pile of weight. So I decided to have some fun and crunch some numbers. I lost 50 lbs. I drive a VW Golf. I commute 30,000 km a year in my car. Due to the reduced weight in my car, I get marginally better fuel economy. The math tells me $90 a year. That's about 9 Baconators biggy sized. Or a free Tim's double double for every time I fill up with gas.
  13. I heat with Oil and a 15 year old "High Efficiency" furnace. I would hate to see what a low efficiency furnace could do to my pocket book!! $400 a month for Jan. I bought a few high efficiency electric heaters. Gunna see if I can find a balance the will save some money, some how. But I have a feeling that I am going to have to install either a natural gas, or propane tank out side, and up\grade my furnace.
  14. That's a great video! Felt like that on Simcoe yesterday when we where fishing near a big crack. The ice shifted so hard, I almost fell over...
  15. Awesome man! I've really been enjoying your back lake reports this year!
  16. Thanks for the report! Was considering heading there with the sled tomorrow. Not gunna happen now.
  17. Yes. But it would be followed with... I do get your point though Wayne.
  18. Someone bludgeoned around 50 seals to death on a beach in PEI. Or atleast that's how many they left on the beach to rot. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/prince-edward-island/story/2013/02/01/pei-dead-seals-bludgeoned-584.html Brutal!
  19. I'm not believing that a fish could flip a bout of that size..
  20. I've seen about 7 car accidents this week. 10 deer since 2013 Driving thru farm country on my commute This summer I cam over a hill, and there was a hill billy on a 4 wheeler doing a cat walk straight toward me in my lane. All i saw was the bottom of quad flying at me. This guy slams on his breaks, peals of in to a field and starts blowing doughnuts! Must have been his Dad's machine. Didn't even care that I was there. Yesterday, I saw a pick up truck slam in to the back of a road sander. Last summer I had one of the crop watering machines drive it's self on to the road. My car got a good washing!
  21. I miss-read the title of this post and thought it was going to be about Crappie Rods..
