  1. Thanks for posting those picture IHF. I like that idea with the spring clasp for easy removal from your Two vehicle! I was wondering about what to do there. The last night I want to be doing is using two wrenches to loosen up jam nuts.. Thanks again everyone for the input!
  2. Thanks Wayne! My rocket ship fish hut with aircraft aluminum tow bar and aircraft engine valve springs.... I'll have to paint some flames on the side... Oh wait.. My tow vehicle is a single cylinder 250 bravo. This hut will never break 20km/hr on the ice!
  3. Thanks for all the comments guys! And the offers for the free valve springs!!! I ended up getting all of the material the at need for about $35. Gunna weld it all up this weekend.
  4. The valve springs are a great idea! I'm gunna check out Princess auto. I know I can get the perfect spring from bolts plus. But they are $20 each.
  5. It's a permanent hut. The tow bar will be universal, to fit a utility sleigh that I am going to build in the summer. The hut is Built very light, and has UHMW sliders. The Bravo should pull it no problem, when the hut is empty.
  6. Anyone else got a better idea. Before i go buy steel, and springs? The spring section at the end is to that the little bravo can get moving a little (8" travel) before the weight of the hut loads up. 4" travel in the opposite direction to cushion the ride a little. The idea is basically the exact same as my fishing partners. But I wanted some more input before I finalize the design. Any input, (or pictures of your tow bars ) would be greatly appreciated!
  7. 10 or 15 minute walk if the conditions are good.
  8. -38°c with the wind chill that day on Simcoe.
  9. Good stuff guys! Note to self.. Never lend you my Auger!!!
  10. AWESOME PETE! Keep on going man. Now that you're in the grove, it will get easier and easier!
  11. Ya. Another great Joey quote from the weekend. Livinisfishin: "So how many of these walleye are we going to fry up for dinner tonight" Joeytier: "All of them"
  12. Sure. I'd go if it's the ticks are free!
  13. Photobucket is freezing on me right now too. Must be all the OFC'er flipping thru photos counting fish!!
  14. Here's an official 11 fish.. No offence Rob. That was actually very clever!
  15. 4 crappie
  16. 3 peaces of candy
  17. We never did a proper tally of the fish we caught during weekend. At least 20 eyes Saturday. And from what Chad was saying, another 30+ Sunday. Plus at least that many perch. A pike, 2 ling. Half a dozen Herring. What else did I miss? That's a solid weekend no matter who you are!
  18. Welcome aboard man! We have the exact same canoe. But I see you have added a wooden yoke for portaging, and a few other extras. How is it doing a single portage with that aftermarket yoke? I just put the stock aluminum cross support my shoulders and giver.. But it's not very comfortable at all.
  19. I've just started crappie fishing 2 years ago. So take this with a grain of salt. But the spots I find them in the winter is close to the spots I would expect to find them in the spring. The winter spot is a 30' hole. It's surrounded by a 15' flat, that leads to a 5' flat before a stump bay with a stream entering the lake. Never tried there in the spring, but would imagine they would be stacked up in the 5' depth. Not sure about Chanels or other features.
  20. That's WICKED!!! Chad. Nice job putting the guys on fish. To bad it wasn't a long weekend. You guys got them dialled in up there. Nice work guys. And thanks again for everything!
  21. Dinner! Surf and turf style. My wife was at here parents this weekend. They sent here home with a rack. Cooked that in the oven and fried up some homemade Cajun pickerel.
  22. Every year for the past three years, Nipfisher has been kind enough to let me spend a night in his heated hut in Nipissing. The usual three fine OFC'ers, Nipfisher, Rod Caster, and Joeyteir always enjoying getting out with us southern boys. Showing us what a windchill is all about. A decent walleye bite too! I'll let the picture to the talking, cuz I gotta go cook dinner. Some of the guys are out jigging up the evening bite as I type. Might have some pics to post when they get in. Arriving on 24" of solid ice. Livinisfishin. Fist time driving the car on the ice. There was a packed road to drive on. Nip's Hut First fish of the weekend. Nipfisher shows up and starts giving a lesson on how to ice eater walleye. Around 3:30 Rodcaster (and wife) and Joey took me out to a nice evening bite spot where we iced 15 walleye. 3 limits of eaters. Fish fry back at the hut. Breaded in crush BBQ chips and captain crunch! Here's some random shots of the evening bite. Joey hung out with Jay and I in the hut for a while, and enjoyed the fruits of our -20 labor. This Storm rod of Jay's really has some balls eh! Next morning we drove way out in the main lake for the morning bite. But with the blue bird skies, it was tough. The perch was hitting light. And only a few eyes in the morning. Here's a few shots of the morning bite. Chad and I left the group and tried to find a ridge. Here's a shot looking back. By this time, Jermey84 has joined us after working a night shift, and driving straight up. Crazy man!! I got home, and unloaded from Jay's car, in to the box of my sled. And off to punch some holes across the road. The other guys will be navigating their way off the lake as I type. Hopefully with an addition to this report. I don't have time to go back and spell check this report. So sorry if it's tough to read! Fun weekend. Thanks very much Chad, Blair and Joey for the hospitality!
  23. Sending some positive vibes you way Pikeslayer.

Just got in from an hour in the driveway. What are the odds. Only the second time ever I have had to use the electric start on the blower. She wouldn't start with the pull chord. Must have been playing dead! A solid 12" + in Orr lake. Got stuck in the driveway and had to blow myself out.
