  1. I'm doing some organizing for a fishing weekend with the boys, a number of whom are ex-Montrealers. These two artists bring back lots of good memories of living there....
  2. /Thread. Everybody's local conditions are different when nasty, you don't become a hero simply because you went out, then were able to make it home again.
  3. Um, The Irish Nighthawk?

  7. Mike, I only have two, so keeping them in a 3700 box is no problem. Time to treat yourself to an Encase?
  8. I hear what you're saying, but i seem to get away with them ok.... and like Mike says, when it's really cold, I'll tend to troll!
  9. I use the Thinsulate mits that fold back and attach by Velcro to let you use your fingers when you need 'em
  10. Best to keep it "tidy" and draw it closed slowly and uniformly as you tighten it. Funny, sometimes I used the improved with overlapping coils, but when I tie the regular Albright, I'm careful that they don't....
  11. I see he has his bottle of Hoppe's No. 9 handy!

  19. Amazing trip, and an amazing recount as well, Mike!
  20. Woods Bay can kick up in really bad weather, but will probably be the largest body of water you fish. The area is a largely sheltered: you don't need to fish the open.
  21. I have a ten year ols North Face parka that I wore when bike commuting in Toronto, twelve months a year for five years. It would get pretty grimy in the traffic, used to wash it with Woolite, and treat it with Nickwax in the dryer on low setting. It worked for number of years really well. These days, I wash it any way I want, and give it a good coating of silicone tent waterproofer. The parka owes me nothing, and staying dry is more important to me now than breathability.
  22. My great uncle Ross managed a saw mill at Kiosk during the 50s and 60s, and in the summertime lived in a cabin on an island across the lake. Fifty years ago I caught me first fish, a rock bass, of course, there, and still remember the dark stain of the logs of the cabin, red trim around the windows, and the green roof. I have to get my hands on the super 8 movies Dad took back then. Passing the gates and traveling through the park as a youngster is something I'll never forget, and revisit in my memory from time to time.
  23. This thread is interesting, When I started to use braid, it was like upgrading my rods. I'm one of the guys who now use it for everything, usually with about 2' ft of flouro leader. That's what I prefer, and wouldn't go back for all the tea in China, but confidence counts for a lot in fishing, and if Dan and some of the other guys like mono, then carry on....
