  1. You may find a deal, but no service at all. Caveat emptor.
  2. You say what? Oh, you were talkin to BDC G.
  3. Nice to see the Boys make good in our national game (it's not lacrosse, honest). A fine performance against a tough club. 5-peat anybody?
  4. Como s'e dice slackard? Pouriez - vous-traduiez-le en un lange bien compris?
  5. If you are wearing good boots and still get cold toes, upgrade the insulation on yer noggin. I guarantee you even with solopaddler's boots you will get cold feet if your head and neck are not well clothed.
  6. Any large sporting goods store will set you right, like LeBarons or Bass Pro, as well as those already mentioned.
  7. Great smiles on the childeren , good on them for being outside in that awful fresh air and sunshine.
  8. You can charge your battery as fast as you like, until it boils dry, or the plates warp and twist from overheating (pooched). I can't see a downside from the trickle charge, apart from the time it takes.
  9. Fine work, Emil. I know we are going to get out for the white type o fish shortly. Good post.
  10. I don't see the downside to an inch of hockey tape, masking tape or duct tape. I think we need more topics for debate if this one rises to the top.
  11. Maybe you are just not any good at fishing. That realization has really helped with my lack of fishing success, and anything iced at all is a real bonus. Hope this hleps.
  12. Wow, Rob. New people is the best thing, good for you and the Mrs. Youse two are going to be really busy for the next little while, say 18 years or so. The second photograph is a thing of wonder, great capture.
  13. Just a piece of tape. I don't want to go from PP to mono in the middle of fighting a nice fish, so it's braid all the way to the spool. I also do a lot of downrigging and long lining, and I sometimes use at least half the spool.
  14. That's a good idear right there.
  15. Mike, Even though the masters (you, BillM and Cliff) slayed'em, I somehow believe that the fish you enjoyed most was the first one that Liam caught. That was a fabulous grin, one I remember on me a little while ago. Solopaddler is a true expert in every sense - he will put you on fish, show you how to catch em, and then giggle along side as you hold a beautiful piece of fishy chrome. Another great report, Mike. Thanks.
  16. It's crazy the way the laker chased your spoon all over the water column, they are notorious followers, even on the flat line. That is a very handsome trout, almost black.
  17. I had a cast iron fry pan heating up along with the oven, and I poured a cup of boiling water into it when I put the bread in the oven (bread first!). I sprayed the loaves with water a few times as they cooked.
  18. Yup, truly an Italian style country bread. When you see Emilio, tell him I say Hi, and that our outing on Simcoe with Ron and Rattletrap about 5 years ago got me sold on the Gweech religion, one I have shared with a few OFNrs. Mebbe I should make some more, it doesn't seem to keep around here at all.
  19. Lobster (thx Roy - they were $6.99 a pound at Sobey's), a mushroom risotto, wilted spinach, some melted butter and garlic. I think there is still some homemade bread around here somewhere. And a bottle of Sigura Viudas Brut Reserve, a $15 bottle that beats the pants off $40 or $50 bottles.
  20. I'm douG, short for Doug. I hope that clears everything up.
  21. Very fancy, HighDrifter. The walleye are beautiful. Was that New Liskeard?
  22. Pretty darn pleased with these loaves, pleased enough to share with my neighbour. The crumb is chewey and soft, sweet and yeasty, with a crisp and crunchy crust. Measuring and adjusting the oven temp, using more water, letting the dough rise more, and making smaller loaves helped.
