Great stuff Pete, thats a lot of muskie in the boat!
-
Good advice, though I don't mind if people know my spots. I just don't want people to know i'm on a lake when I'm supposed to be at work! lol

I've been very happy with the livetarget frogs for the last few years. I like their topwater mouse even better!

wow, I'm gonna need bigger hooks on my lures to get a hold of that guy!

Sure did Steve! An still rocking a canoe now (though the old one was retired!)

Heres a group shot form my first Lakair event in 2004! I think I joined shortly before this.

I used to fish down there years ago. I want to Say it was near Lock 7, but looking at a map just now I it seems like Lock 3. There are plenty of carp around and lots of little pike. Never caught anything big there myself. Its not the safest place to paddle around as the water level changes pretty quick, but there was lots of shore spots as I recall. This is going back to 2004-05.

Looking really good! Personally I love a little over saturation!

Muskie Lake - Suggestions? (Barrie & North)
mepps replied to hutch4113's topic in General Discussion
Jack Lake has always been a producer for me. Mepps #5 Black Fury or Musky Killer (they tend to hit smaller lures a lot on this lake for some reason). I can suggest 3-4 spots if you end up going. -
Solid day for sure, you cant complain when there are that many muskies in the boat!

Fabulous North Caribou Lake - Maybe The Best Fly In Trip Ever!

Awesome stuff Mike, those were some BEASTS! -
Great stuff!! Good on ya Pete for helping out!

I've always used spinner baits (Mepps usually) to cover as much water as possible. As mentioned above, trolling and focusing on points, drop offs, bays, and weedbeeds will help you track them down.

Thanks, I went in for 5 as well. My 7 year old is really going to love these!

Small worked for last years opener for me too, but not quite as small as your baits. #5 Mepps is typically as small as I go, and I like to remove the stock hooks and go with bigger ones. For Kawartha muskies, the #5 Mepps muskie killer is one of my go to lures. My own spinner baits also have been productive (#8 french blades, brown marabou) Last year Fidel and I had 4-5 muskies in about 3 hours of fishing, and then I got a few more the following weekend. A slow rolling Tackle Industries MiniD also landed a nice walleye and muskie on back to back casts (from shore!) pics added!

Looks like a great place to fish! Did I see September 2015 at the start? Are you sending this from the future?

Lol Whopper! Thanks guys! I wish some of the other stuff sad made the cut, but it was a little off topic. Maybe next time!

I picked up a 2HP 1978 Johnson a couple of years back. It was problematic at first just like yours, but my friend and I took it apart and cleaned it up and it has ran well since then. I wish I could be more specific, but my buddy did most of the work!

Hey guys and gals! I had the chance to do a short interview with the World Fishing Network a little while back to discuss my website and the combination of social media and fishing. Did anyone happen to catch it? I'm a little ashamed to admit, but I don't have WFN (or any cable for that matter) so I didn't get to see it live. I've included a link below for anyone who is interested. I got just over 1 minute of airtime after about an hour of filming. It starts about 50 seconds in and ends around the 2 minute mark. http://www.worldfishingnetwork.com/shows/world-fishing-journal/videos?vid=58355 and yes, they spelled my name wrong

New to me Mercury Mariner 2 hp 2 stroke outboard!!
mepps replied to northernpike56's topic in General Discussion
Looks like a great little motor. I've been using an old 1978 Johnson for a few years. My friend and I took it apart and rebuilt most of it - I was surprised how easy it was. Getting parts for my older unit was somewhat difficult, but I'm sure yours should be pretty easy. -
Hey davew3 - While I have fishing St Martin, I have fishing nearby in the British Virgin Islands. I expect the same species will be available year round. Cuda, tarpon, bonefish, permit, yellowtail, jacks and more from shore. I had a look at a map and I would take a look at those bridges near the airport - especially if there are lights there you will see plenty of big fish at night. Marinas often are a good option as long as they allow fishing - they usually dont want fishermen close to the yachts though! Keep an eye out for pelicans diving, they will lead you to bait, and the big fish wont be far behind.

great shot Raf! I got the year pass almost a year ago and have been several time. Personally I have more negative things to say than positive, but most are related to the overcrowding. If you go on weekend, expect a TON of people. Expect to spend a lot. Expect to have the nearby parking lot full if there are any other events at the Metro Centre/Skydome/CN tower. The design has a lot of bottleneck areas and people will bunch up. Expect people to bump into you, especially when you are tying to take a photo. Don't expect them to apologize. Expect a lot of strollers to hot your ankles. Expect people to try push in front of you if there is a lineup forming. Expect very few food options, and lineups for food (which I found strange considering the high quality food right next door at the CN tower). Better off getting some street-meat outside before/after visiting. On a good note, expect to see some awesome displays (even if they are a little small for such big fish). There is a ton of different species to check out, including some big sharks. My 7 year old son loves to go, but I find myself spending less time looking at fish more time trying to keep an eye on him so he isn't swept away in the crowds. My expectations were very high, but thats only because I have visited some of the top aquariums in the world (such as Georgia Aquarium) which put this one to shame in every way. easyfish - I hear ya bud. It is a little sad if you stop to think about it. Much like to zoo I guess. I'd like to think the people working there really do care about the welfare of the animals though.
