  1. I know a lot of people don`t insure to me that is penny wise and dollar foolish especially if you out there running around on a busy lake pulling tuber`s and skier`s accidents happen. The price your paying seems a little high.
  2. I spend most of my time on Scugog as that is where I have my Trailer but since I have the new boat now I plan to venture to other local lakes. I am going to try and spend more time on Simcoe to see if I can get into some of those monster smallies and of course some fall perch action did that once last year and it was a blast. I would like to fish Sturgeon and Pigeon and perhaps Rice since they are close by. I would love to try the BOQ for some monster eyes this fall.
  3. Perhaps I am wrong I only offered a opinion but I stand by it,perhaps you can enlighten me as too why the series died it seems to me that if Shimano for example saw this as a great avenue to market their product and they were making money on their investment they would have stepped up to the plate. I also don`t believe these companies get mentioned on this site because of their limited involvement with the CFT but who knows maybe I am wrong about that to.
  4. Sorry to hear that but I guess this just reinforces that without a deep pocket sponsor a major professional tour in this country is a no go,you would think that at least one big company Bass Pro,CTC,Shimano etc. could throw a couple of million dollars into the pot a make it viable but in order for them to do that there would have to be some payback I guess they can`t see the investment paying off.
  5. Nice report and great pictures,it`s nice to see someone post pictures without photo shopping the background well done!
  6. I have never seen two teams play so poorly in their own end givin the importance of the game and to add to that I have never seen so many crappy goals. The habs may pull this one out if Carbonneau sits Bonk,Johnson and Begin they have been terrible.
  7. I bought a Browning Agressor combo at BPS 4 years ago on sale I think for 69 dollars and have been very please with it no problems with it at all and i use it a lot.
  8. The box would probably be a regulator if by chance the solar panel overcharges your battery you could start a fire this regulator is supposed to prevent that. Those little chargers you buy at CTC will charge a battery but it would take a month to do it and be careful some of those chargers are not waterproof rendering them pretty much useless on a boat. If you have access to hydro just get yourself an onboard charger or a regular automatic battery charger with a deep cycle setting or get an extra battery that way you will always have a fresh one.
  9. Why Lund were the Alumacraft`s out of stock? At least you got the right engine on the back! Just pullin your leg enjoy your new ride!
  10. Some how this topic got turned into a debate on kids fishing I don`t think kids were mentioned in the original post. My take on the subject is that there is no lack of interest in fishing all one has to do is look at any one of the Kawartha lakes,Rice,Simcoe,Scugog etc. and see there is no shortage of people involved in the pastime, for me there is no greater pleasure than to take my boat out and drowning a few worms. Obviously Mr. Adamo was talking about tournament fishing personally I could careless about tournament fishing but to each his own.
  11. LOL I need a Leafs loss and a Habs win tonite and it will be a wonderful weekend.
  12. Nothing for sale here in Orangeville. BTW GO ISLANDERS GO!
  13. My 2 favorites are Stren for the spinning reels and Trilene for the baitcasters. I actually bought a spool of BPS brand mono on sale last year on sale just see if it was any good and I have to say it`s very good for the money.
  14. My boat is in the water from the first week of May until the 3rd week of October, I have good bumpers on the dock so scratches are not a concern, I have float switch for the bilge so rain is not a concern the two concerns I do have with leaving it in the water all the time is UV rays eventually degrading the carpet and people using my boat as a lounger while they fish off the docks.
  15. Anytime there is vacant land around your property there is the potential for development I recall sometime ago I was looking at a property in Orangeville and the agent was promoting the fact that there was no neighbors behind i looked into this further and sure enough there was a site plan to develope the property. Where I currently live in Orangeville there is always somebody doing battle with a developer it does not seem to matter what the project is it is not wanted in their neighbourhood. If you have a concern about this potential development attend the meeting and get all the details and then you can decide if any action is warranted just remember progress is a sign of the times more and more smaller communities are looking for this type of development to enhance their tax base and to accomodate the growing number of retires that are looking for this type of development outside of the large urban area`s.
  16. Congratulations on your new mortgage I mean house.
  17. Looks to me like it`s just another cheap import from China that some enterprising businessman buys for 2 bucks and dumps it on the North American market for 20 bucks. It may work but i will doubt that it will work as good as the quality minnow type baits, don`t forget the lake where they shot the infomercial that hooked you is probably a lake where anyone could catch 300 fish a day.
  18. I watched Chronzy show yesterday and every other word was Berkley these guys are all walking talking billboards and infomercials and that is fine that`s what the sponsor pays for if there is no sponsor then there is no show. Most fishing shows are infomercials with a little fishing thrown in to keep you watching. I noticed the other day on a American show the 2 fisherman talking to each other in their own boats and one of the motors was covered with some kind of sleeve to hide the brand of the motor. A little off topic but I can not see myself coughing up the extra cash to subscribe to WFN to many lousy shows eg. full contact fishing, fishing with Shelley and what`s her name,Austrialian fishing championship, the last cull etc. any to many infomercials.
  19. I am with Dan on this one I have never used braid and I doubt I will. I tried something new a couple of years ago "flourocarbon" and that was a disaster although I like flouro leaders.
  20. Spares are not universal the size on my trailer is 175/80-13 5 bolt pattern which is a very common size. I would think BPS should carry them they usually have lots of trailer parts if not any tire dealer can order these, and like I mentioned before buy a locking device so you can lock the tire to the trailer because someone will steal it,I have situations in the past were dirt bags used my trailer as ther own personal parts supply store. Make sure you check your tire wrench the one in your vehicle might not work on your trailer. And one last point when your storing your trailer try to cover the tires the UV rays of the sun will break down the rubber.
  21. As long as were talking about locking things up make sure your spare tire carrier can be locked,I recently bought a clamp thingy that allows you to put a padlock on to secure your spare.
  22. The boat has to be registered,I have been stopped on the water before and been asked to produce it.With my old boat i got it done in Brampton and if memory serves it was done at the Canada Customs office and there was no charge. You could face a fine if you can not produce it.
  23. Lots of good advice so far, I will not add any advice per say on backing up a trailer as i am not good enough at it yet to tell anybody how to back up a trailer but i will add a couple of my experiences and thoughts. The first time I tried to back up my rig it was a disaster the harder I tried the worse it got, the problem was on this ramp you had to start the process on an angle and the ramp was very narrow and this made the first time difficult for me thankfully I was the only one on the ramp and someone saw me struggling and offered to help which of course I accepted. The second time I tried this ramp was a different story I was able to back the trailer down with out too much difficulty I think the key was starting the rig off in a good position and taking it slow and rather than trying to correct a bad situation I just started over. I bought a new rig last year which is longer, wider, and higher the my first boat and of course I thought this rig would be harder to back down a ramp to my surprise I think it`s easier to back this larger rig down the ramp either that or I am starting to get a little better at it, I am at the point now in the learning curve that launching and loading does not terrify me anymore. I would suggest that the first couple of times you launch it would be wise not to do it alone try to have a buddy with you and preferably one with trailering experience secondly try and avoid busy launches it`s probably not a good idea to try your first launch during the Walleye tournament at the Bay of Quinte. Try to find a quiet launch during off peak times and give it a go you will find that after you have done it a few times correctly your confidence will increase and it will not be akin to a trip to the dentist. One important piece of advice is regarding your trailer if it does not have load guides get some one of the biggest problems I had last year was getting the boat straight on the trailer I have them now and they are ready to be bolted on. Just remember to take it slow and make small corrections and you should be okay and remember all of your fellow fisherman and boaters at the launch did it for the first time and i doubt they were experts right out of the box, and one more thing remember that ramps can be very slippery I found that out the hard way last year at the Beaverton launch I must have been a site slidding down the ramp on all fours into the drink. Good Luck and enjoy your new rig.
  24. Did you ask your Statefarm agent if you can add it to your house policy? my Statefarm agent said I could not do that with my new rig it required it`s own policy.
  25. I ran a boat for 4 years with an overpowered motor, rated for 25 mine was a 40 and the previous owner ran it for 4 or 5 years as well with no ill affects on the transom as far as the weight issue the 40 weighed 23 pounds more than 25 to compensate for the weight I moved the gas tank to the front of the boat.My boat was a tiller and had the 25 HP max rating yet the console version of this boat with the same specs. was rated if memory serves at 40 HP the transoms are the same so I don`t think the torque is an issue you are not going to "rip your transom off" if you go up a little in horsepower. As far has being written up for being overpowered i never had that experience and I have been pulled over numerous times.Your main concern should be with your insurance company check with them before you decide.
