Columnaris Bacteria Found in Scugog Carp
lookinforwalleye replied to ccmtcanada's topic in General Discussion
I saw a lot of these dead and dying Carp and none had the symtoms in that description, if memory serves the water temps where normal when the Carp started to die off low to mid 60`s. -
Very nice shots you have talent, the only thing missing are the bikini clad perch fisherwomen.LOL

Starting to get dark here in Orangeville, winds picking up and thunder rolling in.

I have had my new PD for a couple of weeks now with no major complaints the foot pedal does take some getting used too I liked the older version better, the unit stows and deploys easliy and it seems to be easy on a battery. I guess if I had one complaint it would be Minn Kota`s claim of the weedless prop going through anything, I guess the guys at Minn Kota don`t test their motors in a really weedy lake they should do a test on Scugog this year to see how weedless their prop`s are, but I had a pretty good idea that the weedless wedge prop wouldn`t go thru the Scugog jungle.

A question for you Simcoe Smallie experts???
lookinforwalleye replied to lookinforwalleye's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the replies, I will keep trying, it is my mission this year to catch and release of course some Simcoe smallies, I am going to chalk this past experience up to the cold front affecting the mood of the fish and not neccesarily me doing something wrong at least thats what I am trying to convince myself the reason was. -
I went out to Simcoe last Saturday for a few hours until the winds came up and chased us off the lake anyways we fished off Thorah island and saw a lot of smallies I lost count of the number of fish I had follow my bait right to the boat before swimming off,I tried everything deep running cranks shallow runners, jerk baits, spinnerbaits of every colour various plastics I threw everthing at them and all I got was follows my first reaction was it must be the cold front just wondering what you Simcoe regulars thoughts are. Thanks

Smallmouth bass in Lake Scugog ?
lookinforwalleye replied to mikeymikey's topic in General Discussion
Yes there is I don`t target the smallies on Scugog but they are there.I have got a couple by accident, there was a charity tournament at Goreski`s last week and there were some nice ones weighed in. -
seems like a waste of bandwidth!!!!

Boy you guys are tough!

I love them discovered them a couple years ago and it is my favorite bait,BPS had a sale on last year I think for Konami Baits same as a Senko I bought about 30 bags I didn`t dare tell the wife I spent 160 bucks plus tax on plastic worms LOL she might question my sanity. They are very dense and this creates a slow fall almost always the bass will take it on the fall and hold on to it tight the only draw back of the Senko is it`s durability they tend to tear up after a few fish.

The lakes we fish are for the most part public this means fishing boats, pontoon boats, water skier`s and even the jet skier`s have equal right to use the water. I happen to fish Scugog a lot and at times you will see the marked channel in front of Goreski`s clogged with fishing boats kinda hard for a guy in a 40 foot cruiser to weave his way through the mess. I find for the most part people are pretty courteous on the water but there are exceptions personally I find other small fishing boats to be a pain in the arse, numerous times I have had other fisherman drive right through where I am fishing not 30 feet or so from where I`am casting.

I was out on Saturday and the number of floater`s is declining I saw about 1/2 dozen. My concern right now with Scugog is the weeds they are so thick I don`t know if I can get to my favorite spots, the new Minn Kota with it`s weedless wedge prop is going to get a work out. We`ll see how weedless that prop is.

Where should I go to catch my first Muskellunge?
lookinforwalleye replied to 007's topic in General Discussion
I say again Scugog, took one of my other non fishing son`s out on Saturday morning and he caught his first Musky on his second cast and then after dinner we went back out for a hour and he caught his first and second Walleye on back to back casts. Beginners luck! -
Where should I go to catch my first Muskellunge?
lookinforwalleye replied to 007's topic in General Discussion
without doubt Scugog just pretend your fishing Walleye and you will catch a Musky or try the Nonquon river and fish for Bass and you will catch a Musky. Took my son out to catch his first Musky that took all of 20 minutes, took my wife out to catch her first Musky that took 10 minutes. Good Luck -
Berkley and their Fluorocarbon Line
lookinforwalleye replied to Big Cliff's topic in General Discussion
If it is the same Vanish I had a couple of years ago your going to hate that too, I used it for one afternoon and threw it in the garbage because that`s where Berkley flourocarbon products belong. -
Me too picked mine up yesterday only I went with the Power Drive model mainly because I like the long cord and the smaller foot control. They say that weedless wedge prop will go through anything! we`ll see I fish Scugog so that should be a good test.

storm hits port dover 8th june 2007
lookinforwalleye replied to nautifish's topic in General Discussion
It never ceases to amaze me how some people have a total disregard for the forces of nature, best to head for cover when you see that coming your way instead of trying to catch another perch! -
Logging Algonquin would be a shame and should not be allowed imho Algonquin is jewel that should be left as is for generations to come.

Just bought my new power drive and the sales guy suggested I try the quick nuts to fasten it down so I took the bait. So my question is has anybody used them and what do you think about them? TIA
