  1. Just looking for info on wether or not the ice is out in any of the locks yet? Glen Ross / Frankford / Campbellford / Trenton area. If you don't want to post, please PM me, I just don't want to drive a hour there and find out theres ice in and not fishable. Thanks. Chad
  2. He needs to cut a slope to the front of those pontoons, get a little more speed on that thing.. lol
  3. Didn't know it was legal to sell their mother-in-law on Kijiji...
  4. Sculpin have a wider more broad head with their eyes more on top of their head. The one in the above photo has a narrow head, eyes more on the side, also a vary narrow mouth. I would bet its a Round Goby.
  5. In my personal view, yes you are transporting the fish, but you are not placing them in another body of water.. I look at it as you using your Aquarium as a "holding tank/livewell" but they would count against your limit since they are still living. I would go by the daily limit for which your house resides in the zone. So if you limit is say 50 crappie and you have 5 crappie in the aquarium.. If you go fishing down the road in the same zone, your daily limit would be 45, as you technically have 5 still alive in your possesion at home. I have never came across any law about transporting live fish from one body of water to home, as I prefer to keep the fish alive as long as possible until I am home to clean and package them. If it was against the law to keep fish alive in your livewell, with your boat on the trailer.. I think there would be issues with all Catch and Release fishing Tournaments.. As the fish are placed in boxes to be kept alive to take ashore to the weigh station before they are released back in the water. As for the fish being kept in a aquarium and not having much color, its due to their surroundings. if you place bright objects and plants in the aquarium and there is lots of natural light in the room they will stay bright.. Its just like camo, most fish adapt to their surroundings.
  6. They figure some of the birds died of shock from the Fireworks.. As everyone knows they are making them bigger and louder every year.. Think if your a bird flying with in a few hundred meters of that explosion they probly blew their ear drums. As some of the other die offs were possibly severe drop in atmospheric temp. Eaither way its weird, and hopefully they find out the exact cause.. If the one is cause of fireworks.. you know where you will find P3TA soon..
  7. Yeah, so I have noticed.. Im getting to the point where I don't even want to be a part of this community anymore.. If it does continue I will delete my profile, and stop refering people to this site, which I am finding Im doing on almost a weekly basis cause it used to be a good board for questions, answers, and tips and info.. now everyone wants to keep everything to them selves and not share any info, or hottest new product they have tried.. etc.. etc.. etc..
  8. As I said... "EVEN" if the limit was 5.. I know the limit is not 5 for where I was fishing.. Wow people really need to read before they reply!! I understand why now so many arguments are started on these forums! If your going to reply to a topic.. read ALL the posts and follow up posts please!!
  9. If you read the post you would see where it had a tumor... Doesn't matter how big or small, if theres something like that INSIDE the fish, there is no way in hell im going to eat it.. The original plan was to eat the fish in a few stew.. Follow the posts before you post a reply!
  10. For those wondering.. lol No i didn't eat her, I took her home cause she was full of eggs and I have been out for nearly 5 years.. I got alot of eggs out of her.. I was going to take a couple filets to cut up into a fish stew, since it will tenderize it alot. But she had a tumor in her the size of a golf ball so she unfortunatly had to take the black bag trip to fish heaven.. lol As for the eggs, they were in the Skein pretty good, took about 3 hours but when finished.. every single egg was lose, rinsed well, cured, and ready to go! Those are the Tall mason jars.. when I took the eggs out of the fish the two Skeins of eggs over flowed a 1.5L icecream pail!
  11. Thanks for the heads up, but I know the regs pretty well, as I study them since I travel alot around Ontario and always have my gear with me.. I do have the sports licence, and even if the limit was 5... I still only wanted 2... lol
  12. Caught my first salmon this year, havn't had much time to get out the past few years.. Was only looking to catch a few Steelhead that were 2-3lbs for a good dinner, and ended up with this 38" Salmon! lol
  13. Once I caught a Brown Trout and when I took him home and cleaned it, there was a frog... Still alive in its stomach!
  14. It varies, I personally only frame using quality soild wood frames or solid aluminum frames. Everything I do is archival grade. As for the front of the frame, I have a wood stock, that looks almost like a rustic barn board. the inside I would use oak or something that doesn't have alot of knots in it. and give it a dark stain. But depends on the colors of the lures you want inside.
  15. I just do a similar setup as i do with rainbow and salmon execpt put the weight on the bait side.. insert a small swivel or ring about 2-4 inches just above the weight. i would never cause the weight to be tight, I find with a little movement it causes vibrations to help attract the fish.
  16. Email me the size and depth/thickness of what you want, and I can do you up a quote. Chad Miller Photography & Custom Framing www.millerphoto.ca [email protected]
  17. Just a quick shot of some of the Salmon at the Dam in Port Hope on the Ganaraska River. Have more will upload later Chad
  18. I was fishing with a buddy of mine at Murray Canal outside Brighton, and he caught a Eel once, about 3 ft long. Never smelled anything so nasty, and I believe he ended up throwing out his net cause he couldn't get the smell out!
  19. Depending on the vehicle you drive, if its a 4wd you could launch at Gores Landing, if not then try Harris Boat works.. its like $5-$10 but its a cement ramp, secure parking and deep launch. All depends too on which end of the lake you wanna start at.
  20. I would attempt nose to nose, and offset them each little so skis pass each other, and kinda tuck in under each sled, will allow more room if length is a issue. Try looking up the specs from the manufacturer, they should list them online with the total lenght.
  21. Highly recommend that you carry spare trail light bulbs, and a spare fuse that is identical to the one in the tow vehicle.. One time on a curvy backroad heading home from a night of fishing, and almost rear ended a guy cause he had no tail lights on the truck, or the trailer! I stayed back, but close enough that if someone was to try and pass me that my lights would have the guys boat lit up, and prevent a accident. Once we reached a stop sign I pulled up beside him and told him. He said he knew but had no spares, he forgot to unplug the trailer (older trailer) when launching, and shorted out the lights. I had a older vehicle with various fuses and always carried spares, so was able to give him one to replace his. Told him next time it happens if hes in a pinch, steal the fuse from the horn or the radio till you get home, better then getting rear ended by someone sleepy at the wheel or just not paying attention and doesn't see him hauling a boat with lights out.
  22. Well in the Video you can see the bilge pump running out of the factory hole.. Guess they just didn't know how to turn it on or something. Cobourg is always very fast to respond doesn't seem to matter how far away. Personally I think they just need proper education on the use of a boat and how everything works before going back on the water..
  23. Wondering if someone is willing to message me privatly to share some info.. I was rear ended in a car accident back in april while stoped at a red light, and screwed my back. I have had to give up going fishing in a boat, due to the shock waves from the ride causing pain in my back.. But I am not giving up on fishing from shore, as also being on meds for the pain its about the only fishing I can do. I have been fishing the locks at Glen Ross, Healey, & North end of Campbellford.. But not having much luck.. No walleye yet this year. Only thing I have caught worth mentioning is a small pike. But I would like to be able to get into a few nice walleye for dinner. If someone is willing to share some info on where I could get into a few walleye from shore in Trenton, Brighton area or up the Severn to about Glenn Ross I would greatly appreciate it.. Any info shared will stay private with me. and could be emailed directly to [email protected] Thank You Chad
  24. Also Zone 17 - Northern Pike are Open All Year..
  25. I've been away for a while, but just spent the last hour reading this whole disscussion... I love to fish, I get out maybe 10-20 times a year, I don't care if I catch anything or not... I do it.. Cause I love it, and it calms me from the stresses of life and running a business full time. Im 29 years old, and have been fishing for as long as I can remember.. For years I used to fish in Lakeport from shore in the spring and fall.. then fished Colborne Creek all summer for Specks and Bow PanFriers.. Now.. they are non existant.. Not because of over fishing.. but due to lack of concentration by the ministry to try and help fix the creek.. Then for years I biked down to Murray Canal in the summer to fish the bass and pan fish.. Its always been decent fishing down there.. But now being able to drive for the last 12 years I have been going to Rice lake.. Not only is it great fishing.. but also great views and the ammenites near by.. People that say the locals don't help bring the money to the local resorts and such.. Need to think again.. How do they think the word gets out about the amazing fishing and Resorts, and businesses ON the lake... Word of mouth from the people that LIVE on that lake year round.. they live there for a reason... I know people that live at all ends of the lake and in between.. Any that live on the water and own a boat.. They would rather take the boat to Bewdley, Gores Landing, Harwood for Food or Pizza, or Groceries.. rather then drive the car into Peterborough or Cobourg/Port Hope... And why deal with gas can and have them smelling up the car or truck, when they can take the boat or Jetski or what ever they have, and go to one of the local Marinas or Resorts and just Fuel up there... The locals support more of the local community then is realized.. And yes I have been to a few of the resorts and used their ammenites.. Even rented boats from them in the summer cause I don't own a boat of my own.. And if the service is good and products are good.. I refer them to friends and such.. Personally I don't see the reason for having a high limit eaither way.. I don't belive any limit for even pan fish shouldn't be over 25 per person.. per day.. If people want more then that.. then maybe the MNR should look at having a "Commercial" type of licence that allow the higher limits.. But have those licences cost much more and are species specific.... like $175 a year or something.. Then that extra money can be used to put back into the fisheries. Eaither way I see it.. the more pan fish.. means more food for the bigger fish.. and people wonder why the bigger fish numbers are dwindling on Walleye and Musky and such.. More food that the larger fish have.. the more they reproduce.. the more those parts of the fisheries rebound.. Personally I have always thought that the fisheries should have like a rotating season for different fish.. Or even rotating limits.. from season to season.. Anyways.. just wanted to give my two cents, some worth wile reading.. some useless.. eaither way.. I love Rice Lake and everything it has to offer.. From the Fishing to the local Ammenities..
