  1. Lol i couldn't resist.. I had to share! I shot it with my cell phone, i should of recorded video of the back end when the waves were going in the back of the van and the boat kept coming off the trailer and hitting the shore cause they were to far back into the water! the boat wasn't touching the trailer! lol Being a freelance journalist I almost got out my good camera and shot some pics to send into the local paper.. lol
  2. Just thought I would share this.. When you don't have experience launching or retrieving a boat properly in various situations... DONT! lol They had a small 14 foot alum Boat.. Had the rear hatch open and waves were coming in the back! He should of dragged the boat up as far as he could before hand loading it expecially when you have a launch that is dirt! Good thing for a local person that used his truck to assist with pulling the van out of its situation.. I shot this today in Gores Landing, on Rice Lake
  3. Came across this Pike lurking about 10 feet off shore in the Cobourg Marina. 4 Days in a row I was in the area and it was there each and ever time with in a few feet of where I shot the pic. I know Cobourg Harbour is full of Pike, Walleye and Carp. Even caught some large lakers out of there in the fall a few years back. But there is now a ByLaw prohibiting fishing in certain spots.
  4. This pic should really get your blood flowin! lol Shot this pic Nov 25 2005.. Was only about 40 feet away from him. so would you still classify him as a 8 Point Buck even thou hes missing a antler? lol
  5. I would Reccomend Presquile Provincial Park in Brighton, the offer sites with hydro, water hookups, decent privacy for a number of sites, even once area that is Radio Free. and from the site in less then 10 min your downtown Brighton with Laundry Mat, Gas, Resturants, Grocery Stores, etc.. Presquile has a nice large sandy beach on lake ontario, and just out side the main enterance is a public boat launch into Brighton Bay if you wanna do some fishing. And if your not going to have the boat, there is Murray Canal which is about a 10 min drive, and you can catch Pike/Walleye/Drum/Perch/Crappie/Bass. If your looking to be a little more north. friend of mine recently purchased and runs Cordova Lake Campground and have Hydro and Water Hookups. Small sandy beach, a dock and boat launch. And if your lookin for info on the fishing, there is probly lots of people on here that fish Cordova.
  6. Well eaither way, he was back in the water in less then one min... Didn't even bother wasting time to get my good camera from the car only 20 feet away.. Used my cell to shoot the pic. Considering it was my PB Smally I wasn't giving up a pic before setting him free.
  7. Well, was skunked today. No Pike/Walleye But going to try again Tomorrow. How ever the only 2 fish I did catch was a Smally and a Drum The Bait Box in the photo is 7"x11" I am pickin up a scale and tape to measure and weigh before I hit the water tomorrow! Too bad Bass wasn't in season! that would of been a nice dinner! )
  8. Thinking of giving Brighton Bay a try this weekend! Theres a few locations that are fishable from shore in which you can reach the edge of weedbeds. Also know of a little shallow cove that ive heard of people catching pike in.
  9. Nice catch, I havn't fished down in that area.. Any fishing has been done around Amherst area.
  10. Go north towards Milton, there is Lake Kelso and some streams in that area.
  11. Check out http://www.paddleshack.ca/toronto/ They sell New and Used, not sure if they car what you want, but its possible, plus they have huge sale on May 8th-10th I drive by the one in Oakville all the time, they always have a good selection. They have another location up on the 400 in Richmond Hill Area.
  12. Something neat when I went to google to look at the map satilite photo of the lake.. If you zoom in enough, the south end of the lakes photos have been updated with Winter! photos.. so you can see what half the lake looks like frozen!
  13. Thanks for all the replies and such, the vids are good, that Pontoon is awsome with the Twin 300's! But thats a masssive one, lol gotta be atleast 28'!! Im lookin around 18-22, not really going to be commerial use, even if it was... It would be a max of 4 plus me, and I would have all the legal docs and waivers.. But eaither way, first is to get the boat lol. Lookin around I will probly go a older used one, and update it from there, I don't want alot of seatin on it.. maybe 8 max. But one of the biggest things will be to build a platform on top that can be walked on, even fished from! Would be good for the shallow waters being able to see your bait when your fishing. Kinda like fishing the flats in Flordia.. Most likly be a purchase this summer and build it up to hit the water next year! Even thinking of a center lift trailer so the pontoons are hanging when trailering... and making some sort of bracket system so before you back it in the water, you can pull pins and the pontoons will slide out an extra 2-3 feet on each side to give more stability! Lots of ideas, just gotta get something to start with haha Thanks again for all the posts!
  14. Well I wasn't in Rice Lake.. but lower on the Trent Severn last monday for Crappie.. they were hittin hard anything pink and white.. I had a white teardrop tiped with a old piece of pink power bait.. (looked like a 1/2 meal worm) after about 15 crappie i lost the pink bait, and was just using the white teardrop and they were still hittin hard!
  15. Yup, I have seen more and more large pontoons that you can almost ski behind! Alot of 20-24 foot pontoos are coming with 100hp+ motors now, better structure and building allows more HP. Change the aluminum frame to steel, and you could probly push 175HP! Gives me a idea.... Pontoon Speed Boat! hahaha do we hear.. Gusiness Book Of World Records! lol
  16. Aswome, thanks for the link Irishfield. Shark, yeah I like the idea being able to inclose it from the wind and rain, and being able to jig for fish from inside.. Also could use a propane heater to boost the temp a little on those cold days.
  17. Just wondering if anyone out there owns a pontoon boat or did at one time.. Im looking at possibly building a custom pontoon boat.. Eaither buying a old used one, or buying just the pontoons and building one from scratch.. Have lots of ideas for it, but just wondering if anyone has worked on one and has any tips? I am customizing it for fishing, but also to work with my Wildlife photography, and for those rainy days, making a couple trap doors down the middle so your protected from the elements and can still jig directly below the boat with a cover over top. Thanks
  18. Read through the instructions, sometimes there is a year in small print somewhere.. im guessin about 85-88 thou. ive seen similar before..
  19. Thanks Ron! Appreciate it, and I was more then happy to be there. I have loved fishing since as far back as I can remember and since I am 29 you think it would be easy lol.., and now I am merging my love of photography into it. I feel its always good to photograph events such as this as it helps make people aware of how important it is to help keep our waters clean and free of pollution! And how one little event can have such a positive impact on preserving the fish numbers in the local waters so in years our grandkids can enjoy fishing the same waters!.
