  1. Looks like the Notty, I was told recently that they are in there. Congrats on the catch, definitely a fish of a lifetime. Good for ya!
  2. Hey splashhopper, try swimming a grub (regular, double or twin tail) on a jig, depending on your depths, a 1/8th to 1/4 oz should be fine. I like to fish it with a swim and pause, and let it dip in and out of the weeds. When you get a hit, you'll know as they tend to strike the bait pretty aggressively. Try colours like red, white and yellow, and make sure the tail is rigged straight up when it swims so it gets the right action I've had good results with this so far, I hope it does the same for you. Good Luck!
  3. As someone who likes to wrench on their own car, I can understand your frustration. I truly hope these thieves get caught. Karma will ensure that they will get theirs. PS - Was the car ever appraised for insurance purposes?
  4. Great collection there Raf, how do you choose which bottle to bring that day?
  5. Exactly my thoughts, looks deadly for esox species... great work there mate! Keep it up! PS. mind sharing what type of paint you use?
  6. Very cool pic, and thanks for the tip! Will keep that in mind for them wallies this season.
  7. Glad to see you made it out limeyangler, it's too bad the fish didn't cooperate. Btw, that trout looks delicious, I'll have to give that recipe a try sometime. Thanks for sharing!
  8. Trust me, I've been on kijiji and craigslist like a hawk. All the good deals that pop up are always at least an hours drive away, and I can't sacrifice missing school to go pick up a canoe. By the time I am able to pick it up, the boat is usually sold. Sucks donut...
  9. Sweet esox man! Got me all excited for opener and some post-spawn water wolves!
  10. Funny you say that, I was told by the seller that I was second in line for it lol. The people that sold it said that someone in town that lived close by to them ended up coming by to check it out to buy it. If only it were closer I would have picked it up asap...arghh
  11. Nice fish there Dan, what was the bait of choice? I may give carp a go this weekend at a local pond as well. Thanks for the mini report.
  12. Way to go man! Gotta try my hand at some bass fishing the other side of the border sometime.
  13. I use one of these: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_74432____SearchResults Mine's the 7' M Fast action, Very sensitive rod, IM8 graphite and a really nice blank overall for the money. Awesome backbone as well. I use this rod for my senkos, dropshotting, small jerkbaits and tubes. My most versatile setup for sure. If you're at basspro anytime soon, I highly recommend you check this rod out. No complaints here.
  14. I use Rapala Titanium Braid, which is a real Spectra braid. I've used it for the past 2 seasons with no problems whatsoever (30# and 15# test). I have a friend who has used Spider THREAD as well, and has not had any issues with it at all.
  15. Agreed! Let's see your Jeep do this! Especially at 0:26 seconds!
  16. Sedona 2500FD here, no problems with it, very smooth drag and casts really well. For the extra $20 or so, I would spend the money on the Sahara as it has more metal parts although the Daiwa would be a good choice too.
  17. I could be wrong actually and might've gotten them mixed up. Sorry!
  18. Blackflies... ...hope you figure out a way to deal with them because they gave my friends and I pure hell. Mosquito repellent and citronella does not phase them. Wear dark colours as they are attracted to brighter ones. Other than that, we enjoyed Algonquin and would go back again.
  19. Wow that fish looks THICK That has got to be the largest Lake O. water wolf I've seen, well done mate!
  20. This is a question for Solopaddler: Don't mean to go off topic but do you have an approximate weight estimation on the 16'/17' Grumman Aluminums? Thanks
