Don't forget to cut a hole in the ice first.

1997 Toyota Tercel 2dr, 1.5L 4cyl & manual trans. Of course my boat only weighs 30lbs.

GSP in the 2nd by submission.

Looks like old Berkeley floating power finesse worm. Throw one in water and see if it floats. Great for Carolina rigging as you can control how far off bottom the worm will be. If it sinks...never mind .

Before x-mas they were getting 48 wii fits at Best buy. I got to the store 10 minutes before they opened to see 150 people in line. Bought a brand new one off Kijiji for $140. Probably from someone who was in line ahead of me that morning. It is a cool toy for sure.

I tried dropshotting for bass for the first time last year. I was fishing in 10ft of water with weeds to the surface. Used a big jig on the bottom and swimbait up about 18". Caught a decent largemouth on the swimbait. Found it hard to do from a seated position in a kayak though. Search the forums for "dropshotting". I'm sure you'll find half a dozen discussions.

Best ice fishing report I've seen this year .

Santa Claus just brought our daughter a eskimo spitz/shih-tzu cross. No shedding, tops out at around 12lbs and never barks. Santa found her on Kijiji for $275.

I've got lots of stuff too. I actually use an antique secretary desk, that I inherited, as my tackle center. I just load up for the species and style of fishing that may be needed on any given outing. I find now that I use fewer different lures every year. I'm primarily a jig fisherman so most trips I can carry everything I need in a pocket or two. I find more lures each year than I lose, so even without buying more the collection still grows.

I rig mine tail down, until the body is torn, then I flip it over and rig it tail up.

Hey Nomad, keep us updated on any yakfishing tournaments you hear of here in Ontario. Have you had any luck with starting your own?

My 8yr old daughter also use a 5.5ft ugly stik with an UL Abu Garcia reel. She learned how to operate a spinning reel over the winter when she was 4yrs old by using a ice rod & reel with a rubber frog tied on(no hook). She would cast it out and try to retreive it before her pet rat could grab the little frog. That rat chased that frog all winter. I had her manually closing the bail after a cast and then pull the line tight before reeling in. Usually by that time the rat was all over the frog and the battle would begin.

Plus 10C. Ice is for playing hockey on and keeping a drink cold. I can't tie a knot if it's less than 10C so no fishing till spring for me.

It's 74.3 here in KW.

Wouldn't surprise me a bit if a woman won the classic. I can't see any advantage to men over women for fishing tournaments. Kind of like poker . If Danica Patrick can out drive the men, anything is possible.

Very interesting. Maybe capitalism doesn't work. At least not for 99.9% of us. That's not to say that anything will change. Those who make the decisions aren't going to mess up a profitable (for them) situation. The gates in the gated communities will get taller and they will be guarded by more and more armed security.

Very nice perch. I bet it'll taste even better. Congrats little dude .

Very nice Cliff. Thanks for sharing those with us. Now I'll have to get at my scanning new years resolution.

If you put an electric trolling motor on that puppy you'll have a real nice conservation area fishing machine. If you have a conservation area close to you, they may have a storage area where you can leave the boat and not have to worry about transporting it. It's a little too big to cartop but you may be able to slide it into a pick-up bed or a utility trailer.

Well Ciceri, I haven't been on that site for better than 3 years. Haven't missed it either. I used to get harrassed for posting where I was fishing and answering questions about locations and methods I was using to catch fish. It was more of a "look at what I caught, but don't ask where or how" site.

Nice looking fish Bro. Too bad about the heater at BPS, next time you'll have to call ahead first. If you two would stop holding hands, you might land more fish .

I know as a rider for more than 25 years that I would need six months to finish. I hate gravel roads let alone sand dunes. My choice would be the BMW GS.

I was a big fan back in the 80's when I was still driving my bike. I'm not so sure about the move to South America for this years Dakar. I guess safety is the big issue. I always figured getting shot at was part of the challenge of the African race.

I know a great first fishing derby for you Mike. It's the "John Burns Memorial" at Valens conservation area. It's held on the 2nd Saturday of July. It's a great family event with junior divisions for Bass, Pike, & Panfish and adults for Bass & Pike. There are lots of decent draw prizes for those who stay till the 4pm weigh in and trophy presentation. The place is "No Gas Motors", but you can tilt your gas motor up and run on electric if your boat has both. They rent canoes, 12ft aluminum fishing boats, and tandem sit-on-top kayaks. There are bonus ounces awarded for live release. Check out the pics about halfway down the home page and see how much fun everyones having. http://www.conservationhamilton.ca/parks/visit/valens.asp
