  1. I think pets are sometimes used for beginners to practice... Maybe?
  2. in all honestly most taxidermy i've ever seen anywhere in my life was poor quality in comparison to the work done by a local guy here... im actually shocked at the prices most charge considering the end result looks like a rubber toy... this guy has a 3 year MINIMUM wait time for mounts... but its worth it for the fish/animal of a lifetime... i had a largemouth done when i was younger... dad had a 54 inch musky done...a laker... 14 pound walleye... smallmouth bass... perch... crappie... pike... salmon... and my brother just got a 10 point buck that scored 150 done... all are amazing... just thought id throw his info out there for anyone.... i dont know him personally... but IF anyone is gunna spend the big dollars to get a mount... id like to help you get the best for your dollar... i know if i ever get another mount ill be going to him.... 3. LOOKS LIKE THE SAME FISH... THE DARK SPOT ON ITS BACK LOOKS THE THE ONLY SCUFF THAT HASNT CHANGED.... MY BROTHER DID A RECAPTURE A FEW YEARS BACK... 55 INCHER TWICE IN THE SAME SEASON... 2 MONTHS APART... ON THE SAME SPOT... ONCE EARLY SEASON (LATE JUNE- LATE LULY) THEN AGAIN IN EARLY FALL (SEPT-OCT)... HAD A PATTERN OF LAMPREY MARKS ON ITS HEAD THAT WERE UNMISTAKABLE....
  4. Hmm From what I've read it's when surface temps get colder then bottom temps causing the water on the bottom to rise to the surface and surface water to sink to the bottom.... So the lake literally "turns over"
  5. I'm thinking steam/condensation is more likely then smoke.... Mine does the same on cold days... Then stops once its warm out.....
  6. I've been running diawa accudepth plus linecounter reels for a while now... The first one I bought was a size 27 for trolling musky... Never had any issues.... I now own 8 accudepth plus line counters and use them for walleye as well as musky... Still no issues.... I think they are between $59.99 and $69.99 The wife should be ok with that price...lol ... Mine was....
  7. I tend to speed it up and try to change direction by moving your rod side to side during the retrieve... And once you only have about 2 feet of line left go into a figure 8 or big circles boatside....
  8. I bought the kit containing both bottles you need for $19.99 I believe... Ordered from Cabelas...
  9. $1.05 per liter in USA Glad it's only 10 minutes away....
  10. So I ended up getting the nikwax kit to clean gore tex as well as treat it with repellant.... You get 2 different bottles... One with a cleaner and one with a water repellant.... Applied it today I tried pouring water on my suit in the basement.... and it practically bounced off my suit.... So far so good.... Suit looks brand new again...
  11. I considered pushing you over the side and keeping it... Lol But then you probably wouldn't come back...
  12. Heres another shot of the temporary captain of the SS Lew
  13. Eggs have to grow... That takes time... Walleye have had small eggs for a while now...
  14. had that happen a bunch of times... had a musky grab a 25 inch walleye this summer...
  15. I had a blast Lew... Some bloody knuckles for me as well...lol But I'd say the heaviest hitter of the weekend were those Philly cheesesteaks..... I was stuffed....
  16. Good thing it wasn't a bass.... It might have been the new great thing... Every bass guy would need 10 fingers in every size and color.... And hang em from an Alabama rig....lol
  17. I sent you a pm trying to gently pursuad you to not lay musky on carpet... And it was more about your safety then anything else... That big musky decides to go crazy and a lot of bad things can happen... I was in no way aggressive about my suggestion nor did I push it on you... Just tried to educate you so more fish survive... And less angler get injured... That's what most of us want... It's called constructive criticism..... For the greater good of our fisheries... If you ignore this critisism that's your choice... I also sent a pm so a musky handling battle wouldn't break out... Again... Critisism isn't always a bad thing... I've learnt a few things from members here SLAMMING me.... And some gently pursuaded me... And these lessons have helped me in day to day life.... Try to take advice from those willing to give it in a calm cool manner... You may learn a thing or two
  18. Last year about 100 trips out... Probably around 50-75 so far and 30-40 to go....
  19. Looked like best case scenario to me... Nice haul.... I don't like the giant nets personally... Mines plenty big for fish safety... But nut big enough to scoop a VW beetle...lol
  20. This time of year I'm hitting my stride.... Some of my best days of the year are soon to come as well as the bigguns that fall brings... Still have 3 months in the boat left.... Don't go calling it quits yet everyone....
  21. They're prefer "little people" Lol
  22. That's why I said at least... But not my boat this weekend...lol
  23. 3 months left of season.... At least 12 hours a week.... So 48 hours a month... 144 hours... Minimum....
