  1. Regular spinning rod Regular guides Yes... Open water... Fireline crystal... It was like the strands were all seperating... It was so bad the loops of loose strands were tangling in the guides....
  2. That's what got shredded... Maybe it was just too old
  3. Yeah PM sent Looks like we are starting a December musky hunt tradition... I'll have open water for a while yet
  4. Cause I have 2 jigging rods I'm gunna spool 1 with fresh fireline for above 0 days and the other with mono for below 0 days... Both 6lb
  5. I have a spool of big game 8lb... I'll try that It was like the fire line unraveled itself...
  6. Looks like I'll try some mono or flouro ... 6lb should do...
  7. What line do you guys use when fishing below 0 and your guides are freezing... It's for a small spinning rod for jigging walleye... My fire line basically got shredded by ice recently... Is nanofill any good... I'd like to stay low stretch as it's for jigging walleye and sensitivity is important... Thanks
  8. Message me if you want... I'm on vacation sun-sat next week... I have obligations sun&mon but free the rest of the week
  9. Time to travel Pete.... Zero ice here
  10. Large rigging hose was in the plans... As well as cleaning up the wiring.... Didn't even think about the transom... Thanks Also looking to build in a bubbler for minnows and a new fuse/switch panel... With room for a few more accessories... Once apart I also wanna look at options for rod storage... 6-7 foot max right now... Might drill through and add tubes for rods to 8/9 feet if possible....
  11. You are all giving me lots to think about Lots of really good points...
  12. Anywhere my son can get bites... He likes playing on "the blue fort" I don't have the same drive on hard water that I do on soft water... Its my relax with family time... We target numbers of perch and sunfish now...
  13. Wow Sorry to hear that......
  14. My carpet is actually in great shap for its age... It's the plywood that rotted... Rivets in the floor popped... And screws stripped out on the decking... That's another topic... Fasteners... I pound my boat hard in pretty big water for a 16 footer... The result is popped out rivets and stripped screw holes... Any suggestions other then avoiding those 3-4 foot waves...?
  15. I gotta get on that jig bite... Looks like you go 0-100 in a flash.... So cool
  16. Lol Yup Just a rough finish on a small glass boat Edit... It's actually snow/ice from the looks of it
  17. My friends store pays it's own bills but they basically work there for nothing... Retirement hobby...
  18. I have friends with a tackle store... Mark up is around 40%... If your 35% cheaper your only getting 5% on your sales... If you sell $1000 a day your only making $50.... Then you have to pay for your overhead... And if you think you can afford employees your way out in left field.... If you sell $1000 a day... wich you won't... Nothing personnel but I don't think many shops sell $1000 a day... You could pay 1 employee $5 per hour (under minimum wage) for a 10 hour day... Again assuming you have zero overhead... At the end of the day you have nothing...
  19. Lots of great input so far everyone... Thanks for your opinions...
  20. So I'm redoing my 16' Lund explorer tiller... 1998... This winter/spring It's an older Lund with long skinny side decks and a fairly small front deck... I'm looking at redoing all the decks and floor... And seats... Posts... And bases... I can't decide on carpet... Vinyl... Or vinyl floor and carpeted decks... Or whatever... I'm looking for pros and cons of both options from those with experience... I spend most of my time sitting in the back trolling with my main motor... Probably 90% of my year in the back and 10% on the casting deck.... I do a lot of walleye fishing so the floor gets wet from the net/fish every trip out... I fish into winter every year as well... Ice and snow every December... More or less liking to chat a bit with anyone willing to share I'm leaning towards vinyl floor and carpet the decks and everything else... Thanks Mike
  21. My advice Worry about yourself... And maybe family if they fish with you... Your friends can get their own shelter... I always made sure I bought gear for me and my friends... You know what I ended up with... No money and more gear then I will ever need... And for a hut... You'll end up fighting with a hut so big that 9/10 trips you'll wish you had of bought a smaller hut... Go with whatever will suit YOUR needs for your average fishing day
  22. I agree Make sure you firmly pressing the button for the trim... When it clicks does the motor hesitate lowering?
  23. Looks like a good year... Congrats
