    I think either boat suitable. The Fortrax is good cable steer. The second it starts cricking buy and install kit $40 for the hinge. If you don't more parts get wore out cost go up. Then Ultrex has spot lock it's game changer. You will likely be buy a Hummingbird gps/finder that makes it all work incredible. Ultrex about double price of fortrex.

    You only get 1 chance to go big. Big trolling motor, big electronics, big talons, big trailer. And the most important thing put the recommended HP on the boat. Don't buy the show special.

    So it's even more likely your terminals both side of breaker switch need to be cleaned. I've seen guys lose the stainless nut on there battery and get a galvanized nut that immediately rust.

    Sorry I reread your post. So take your load tester when battery is discharged. Hook it up same thing if it reads 11. anything that's a dead cell. With load tester hooked to battery plug your maintainer in. It will take a minute the load test will increase volts. Your maintainer is working. I never really like these things. You can start motor and watch the volts jump up more and your Alternator is working. If it doesn't Stainer or alternator.

    The first thing clean those terminals and all other connections . Tighten all connection . If you had a dead cell it would show 11.3 volts when discharged. Do you charge your cranking battery after each trip . What happens if you don't is your battery gets less and less because we don't run far enough for complete charge.

    The math is good and I used it some propping boats. You really need to set a day and have a few prop's and do the work. A well set up boat will make you smile, a bad set up just sucks.

    The thing with aluminum props is they flex . And your performance suffers. It's work to get your boat prop correctly and worth every second.

    It's clear your boat could be prop better. To start put everything in boat you would have, buddy,livewells full,battery's,rod reel tackle. From what you say 30 mph unacceptable. A 4 blade prop and stainless will carry the weight better. Can you borrow a prop or goto Prop Guy in Buckhorn you can try props until you find the right one. You don't really want top speed. Acceptable hole shot and reasonable speed. Then think about your use Lake O or Simcoe you need grip. So when faced with mountain of water you can go.

    I to love eating pike. Easy to clean 5 fillet method. A youtube vid that was 3.26 minutes and I was good. Balsam is the only regular stop with pike for me. Heard Rice has them but haven't caught any yet.

    Trim your motor up when trolling to slow it down. Keep eye on water pressure. My old Mariner turned pee'r upside down getting a little height on water so I could hear it and see with sideways glance. Had a 175 Rude same thing.

    I go out of my way to embarrass slobs. People fishing at ganny bunch Timmy's garbage I just scoop them up with my net and drop in trash can . never say a word. In all my fishing club conservation project picking up others trash was lowest project. Telling people to pick up there trash (signs) a #2 project. #1 Conservation project are things that wok for life, spawning shoals and fishways.

    I pretty much fish everything with good boat launches within 2-2.5 hours from home . Not really interested wilderness easy fishing. Got into canal fishing Cape Cod and surf fishing. When I travel Nashville last year I hired guide on Kentucky knowing the fishing mostly sucks. But fishing a ledge lake with no weeds very interesting and Chickamga was just to far for 1 day. When we get back to Cuba I found a guy to take me Cuba style fishing that will be fun.
