The salmon guys I know are on water at 5am and it's crazy until 9. Steady stream of salmon boats going by my house so timing is now.

You could be fishing Stripe Bass off pier ,jetty, or shore these could be over 40lb and require a surf rod and some big tackle. Most of what I've heard about medium size so heavy bass rods will do. Most piers get a run of mackerel they are 15-18 inches and a medium 6-6 -7 ft spinning rod is best 8-10 ib line and use a mackerel rig which is bell sinker on bottom and 3 tiny hooks with white and red feathers. High tide is everything low tide stay home.

Chryslers are points and condenser if you don't know what that means look for something else.

a few questions about buying used utility trailer
Garnet replied to huzzsaba's topic in General Discussion
I would take my boat trailer plate with me and bring the utility trailer home then deal with the home made trailer issue. -
I've went to MNR seized merchandize auction couple times years ago. At Corneils Auction Little Britain. Haven't heard of one recently.

I have about 10 pairs of split ring pliers and your chubby fingers shouldn't be involved. Good split ring pliers should open split ring and also grip the ring. So cubby fingers holding both hook and plier moving ring. Don't think I paid $40 for Shimano pliers maybe $18.
-
Shimano makes very good split ring pliers. They are offset so you can see little better. Now the process! You open the split ring and slide old hook into gap move it a little then slide new hook in beside old hook. Run the old/new hook around split ring , old hook is off new hook on.

For "poor anglers" that can't afford $1100 for a lure
Garnet replied to Snidley's topic in General Discussion
You are right Musky Guys and sawdust for brains. Same with Bass Guys saw dust. I fish about 7 species so mostly mud and sawdust for brains. Never ever do the math in fishing just rate how many smiles you got. -

I worked the Musky Odyssey for Power Pro . You talk about fishermen with screws loose. Hand made balsa plugs $799. They would run these seminars and out come the students eyes as big as saucers with there credit card in hand. I just stood there with handful on 80-100lb and asked how many. -
Brunswick. Coulda, shoulda, didn’t.

The hardest thing is to sell for a profit. The truth is you don't make money until you sell. -

It's true bass are easy to catch, they just get way smarter when you pay enter fee. And it's not a bass it's 5 bass and you have to do it from 7 to 3 no excuses on Sat and Sunday with all the locals out fishing. And you do have a huge investment, with just a thousand things that can break and will break. If you can't fix it you go home. You buy the same fishing license as the locals and contribute the same amount to the fishier and may only fish the lake 2-3 days. So if you think it's easy just buy in go find out how easy it is. -
Suggestions on standalone navigation devices
Garnet replied to Hack_Fisherman's topic in General Discussion
Have you tried making fish finder screen little smaller and nav screen bigger. -
We have a landline and a landline phone that we only plug in for emergency. Like yesterday.

And Durham Region said come fish here. We will take your money.

I blame Marinas they sell boats and then provide no help on launching or loading boats. Most sales people likely can't do the job, they could provide some You tube.
-
Here in Ontario you can have a sign on your boat for $50 at the sign shop. Doesn't mean you can launch or load boat. Does not mean you can find or catch fish. It just means you have $50.

Just because you have CHARTER on your boat means nothing. I had a couple in front of me at Rosedale launch struggling. 25 ft boat they just picked up at second marina to east of Rosedale launch. I'm in hurry to get home and to work but I wait a bit. They had the worst loading condition heavy current and howling wind and trailer way to far in water. So I go over ask if they need help. Husband driving boat little reluctant but agrees. I get wife to pull truck ahead get boat loaded all good. By the time he got back to launch I had my boat load and just climbing out. He was amazed and want explanation , I told him about my work thing and that I would be back tomorrow the time I would be launching and time I would be loading. Next day he was waiting for me went threw the full deal. Ran into from time to time for few years. Always said thank you just a great guy that need a little help.

Mono is just a starting point. You have a life time to try other lines. And lb test. Have fun and judge it on smiles after you get threw the misery.
-
I would get mono 17lb. And cheap the Zebco OmniFlex at Wal Mart will work. About $3. Change baits or weights of often. Get all the cast in. When your thumb gets educated start backing the controls off.

Any deals on Marine/Deep cycle batteries? Should I go Gel?
Garnet replied to Hack_Fisherman's topic in General Discussion
I went the other way and leave battery's in the boat. It's all setup to plug in easily. And I don't do that roughen job take battery's out and putting them back in. -
The most important thing is to find that sweet spot for your trailer and boat. If you don't launch enough then start buying the gadgets.
