My guess would be that if the waves are high enough to sink the boat (10'ers) you would be in a lot of trouble. The boat should float near the surface. But how are you going to stay in the boat? I was out with a friend in his closed bow boat and we speared a wave. I thought it was going down because we had over 1' of water on the windshield. It felt funny sitting below the water. She popped back up and i started to bail the 1' of water out of the bottom of the boat. If that was an open boat she would have went right down. I thought he new how to drive a boat but i was wrong. Hopefully we will hear some good stories.

When i was putting my boat away in the fall i saw oil running down the skeg near the prop. I was just about to go to the marina and buy a new motor when i realized it was just the fogging oil. Does your motor exhaust through the prop?

If it was and old boat i would take out the middle bench. If it is new and cost you a lot i would not. Boats flex a lot and it might crack the hull or loosen the rivets. Put a flat floor in and step over the middle bench. Make a casting deck on the front deck.

I have looked for a low pro reel and the ones that will handle bigger baits are too much $$$. I bet they dont have the power of the ABU either. Lebarons sells a 7001i Lefty. It is $145 + tax. I got one for xmas. The reel is not that big but it is heavy. I think Lew is right.
