  1. Send in the clowns...oh wait, they're already here.
  2. Sure, and maybe the doctor dropped you on your head in the delivery room.
  3. They look like vandals and punks to me. And the crowds of onlookers and media are just adding to the situation. Hopefully only property gets damaged and nobody gets hurt.
  4. Based on the video, my guess is that, unfortunately, some Darwin awards were handed out posthumously.
  5. There's lots of smallmouth bass in the river just below the falls by the town of Restoule. Toss small spinners with worms into the pads along either side if you have a boat. There's also a gov't dock there if you're fishing from shore. Not much size, but the action should keep the kids happy.
  6. Customized Counter Time until Friday, July 2, 2010 at 7:00:00 AM (Toronto time) 21 days 512 hours 30736 minutes 1844170 seconds
  7. glib, simplistic and unhelpful
  8. I've been looking forward to the first report this year. Congratulations on a seemingly wonderful trip. Only 25 more days and I will be enjoying the Attawapiskat with some friends.
  9. Hi,

My fishing buds and I are meeting on Thursday, June 10th at 5:30 at Grace O'Malleys pub/restaurant downtown to plan our trip. Let me know if you want to join us.

  10. Some nice pike there...good stuff!
  11. The Habs provided a glimmer of hope and a ton of entertainment during the playoffs. Philly outplayed them by a wide margin. Too bad that I've disliked the Flyers since the mid-70's. I'll be rooting for Chicago in the finals...although I don't expect to watch many of the games. Just like the Habs, it's time for me to do more fishing and golfing!
  12. Past Hanlans Point in the rowing channel...the old docks are gone now. I expect the pike will be heading that way during the coming week with the forecast.
  13. Yep, they arrived early afternoon and I tried to orient them to the area in the rowing channel. One of the guys hooked a 25+ pound carp on ultralight...took 25+ minutes to get it to the yak.
  14. I landed 3 pike today between 10:30 and 11:00. 2 of them were between 26 and 29 inches and fat. Lost 2 more during that time and missed a half dozen others that followed and pecked. Small spinners, especially silver (on a sunny day) were most effective. Water temperature and cabbage seem ideal. Lots of boat traffic in the afternoon didn't help. Surface weeds are starting to fill in and will be a problem for casting and trolling with the sunny and hot forecast for the coming week.
  15. Only 39 more days until our trip to Attawapiskat. Based on the last fly-in trip to Edgar Lake, I'll need 14 hours of driving to Nakina and a handful of brews to get to sleep the night before. Still get excited about fishing, just like when I was a little kid.
  16. Based on the last two weeks, I'd say mid-morning to mid-afternoon.
  17. Habs were bound to score sooner or later...let's hope they saved some goals for the rest of the games. We have the makings of a series.
  18. Isn't "Grimesby" in southern Ontario?
  19. Thanks bud, I'll take that as a yes (it is downstream from Eddie's).
  20. Bluegills are fun and easy to catch. I located a school of them on Stoney last September and played with them for a few days. Even caught 3 pickeral in the same spot on an Erie Dearie and worm. Of course, the biggest one got away when it broke my line.
  21. 45 days and counting down for our trip to Attawapiskat the first week of July. And being able to fly beer in advance is priceless.
  22. Solo, can you provide more information? Are you referring to Eddie's location being upstream from this?
  23. Yep, very nice scenery...be sure to use leaders cause the pike are toothy and will bite through line and fluorocarbon. There's a few shallow bays at the east end of the lake that held fish when I was there. Didn't have any luck with hard baits though. Good luck.
  24. I finally made it out on the water today, after working and the weather had kept me out of action so far in May. It was a beautiful day...perfect for kayaking...sunny, warm, calm...and the fish were biting. I caught 3 pike: a little one, a medium sized one, and a big (for me) one. All fish were caught within the Toronto Islands in places unreachable by foot. A silver Blue Fox spinner worked its magic in the afternoon after the 5 of Diamonds and a white spinner had struck out in the morning. Trolling and casting at high speed seemed to trigger the hits. I missed 2 others and had a nice one follow and turn away. The big pike is a personal best for me...it was longer than the 34 inch pike I caught last year and heavier too. Too bad the picture doesn't do it justice. It would have been dangerous for me and the fish to take it out of the net to hold it for a better pic...one disadvantage of kayaking. All fish were released with ease and swam away strongly.
  25. My car was hit by an immovable boat at Harbourfront after work this evening. The bow of the boat extended into the rear of the parking space I was backing into. Smashed my tail light and scraped & dented the body. I'll be having a word with the owners of the parking lot. I'm sure they will say they are not responsible for loss or damage, but who the heck leaves an aluminum boat where drivers are likely to hit it?
