I wouldn't do it that is a real hotspot for pollutants. I have a hard time eating them even from Erie if I think about it. I've had fish from certain sections of the Thames and lived to tell about it, although wouldn't do that again once I found out how many treatment plants dump back in. With regards to Lake O...just remember.... crap runs downhill AND downstream

you'll really enjoy having this on your boat. As mentioned above with some tweaking it can make a big difference with marking fish and even lures. I can help you with that.
-
I've always wondered about those ponds in the new subdivisions and golf courses. Most you are not allowed to fish though. Definitely do C&R there as the runoff and fertilizer would be highly concentrated!

I leave mine in reverse when trailering and in neutral when using electric

In my experience the 4 strokes do have higher compression at least when trying to pull them over.

Rob if you are going after a Ford I have a contact that might be able to help you out in Mt Brydges.

Does it have to be a truck? I'd look at an escape for something small that can tow. The 3.0 is a good motor and have more HP in the recent models. Otherwise I'd look at Toyota or Nissan for a compact truck. I'm a big 3 fan but their smaller trucks have lots of issues and pigs on gas. Edit: another thing about them is the lack of refinement on the powertrain. Some of them only have 4spd Autos in them. The odd one has 5. That combined with higher gear ratios make for bad mileage.

on sale again

drop down here lots of rain to play with today!

I think the Insight only goes into high detail for the great lakes. For inland Canada lakes you may need hotmaps. The base models come with great lakes mapping, just not in high detail like the insight or another chip.

Some people see that if they don't get the last word on the price, than the seller gets the upper hand. Thus they aren't getting their "perceived" deal or lose the battle. Whether its fairly priced or not. That's why not going with firm pricing can avoid this. Using obo can sometimes start a bidding war if you're lucky and maybe you get more than you initially intended. "serious inquiries only" can sometimes deter the lowballers or tirekickers...if you're lucky. As Roy put it, things can seem like a battle over $10
-
I share the same concept. The majority of firm price ads I see are usually overpriced (in this case I highly doubt it) I always do my research before putting in an offer. I've been low balled several times and it can be insulting.

In the System settings there should be a spot where you can see how many satellites its locking on. maybe its not getting enough signal. My first action would be make sure its up to date.

Is your elite up to date? http://www.lowrance.com/en/Downloads/Product-Software-Updates/Elite-Software-Update/
-
For sure. The elite series is nice, but depends what you want. I think its worth the extra $ for the HDS. The screen resolution isn't as good on the Elite, and if you're splitting screens it might not give you much detail. I haven't actually seen it in split screen so hard to say. HDS: Better screen resolution Ethernet & NMEA 2000 capability (waypoint sharing between units, read engine parameters etc) Network sonar (can view bow sonar on console unit for example) Sirius radio and Sonic hub capable * Need extra chip (Hotmaps Canada) - this will also give you high detail of Kawarthas etc. Built in base maps of Great Lakes and Lake St. Clair (not as much detail but has depths I believe) Structure Scan/Downscan Capable with extra module Broadband sonar (theoretically better sonar readings) Two year warranty Elite: Better price Downscan capable (If Elite 5 DSI Gold model) * Less screen resolution Mapping included for Great lakes and Trent Severn (not sure what detail) * One year warranty

Still fun getting out I got skunked on lower last week. Hear its doing decent now though.

You'll need a transom mount "skimmer" transducer for your boat. Through-hulls are for Glass. An HDS-5 will be around that range but you would want the hotmaps chip to give you great detail of your fishing areas.
-
Yes with a map chip it show quite a few hazards, however not all. Any you find you can mark a waypoint and choose and appropriate icon to indicate its a hazard vs. a hump or structure etc. Go with the all-in-one for sure. HDS-7 would be my choice if you are planning to split screens quite a bit. The 8 is really sweet but we're talking big $ you can get a 5 and a 7 for around the same price.

I've seen them also and they are top notch. Big props to the OP for letting everyone know. I'd grab some if I was in the market too.

That is an awesome deal! I was lucky enough to get a gander mtn suite similar to that before they were discontinued. Shipped to pt huron free and brought it over. Its crazy the BPS one is over $500 here.
-
Thanks for all the replies everyone, I learned a bunch from this thread and has turned out to be entertaining! I think an early start and get through before rush is the key during the week.
-
LOL...not freaking by any means I just want to save some time and be cautious in the process. Towing on the highway is something new and lots of folks have good input and experience doing it here.
-
That is a very good point thanks!...especially in spots with tons of onramps. Never thought about that but it would create a scramble to get over or slow down. But not slow down traffic.
-
Yes much over 100 isn't an option...trailer tires don't like that much not to mention gas and stopping distance etc. Distance is almost identical either route, but time is a huge difference.

I would probably get on in Milton and get off at 404 and head to Newmarket and across. Probably quicker than going to the end of 407 and head north through whitby etc. That would be expensive though.
