What is it around 40lb thrust? A large deep cycle should power that most of the day I would think as long as you aren't constantly on it at high speed.

Seems trailer questions are appearing lots around here lately I recently picked up a set of new trailer tires and rims and I notice that they both have a slight wobble to them. DanD and I looked at them and I had them balanced but they are still not running true as we saw on the balancer. I've since got a replacement set of rims to go on and returning the others, however I notice a bit of a wobble with these as well when I put them on the trailer and spin them up. Is it normal for these smaller rims to not be 100% true? Also is there actually a place to get Canada/US made rims anymore? Everything I see is offshore. I know the rims are out a bit, but in addition to the rims could the axle/spindle be out a bit? Just wondering if I should take it to a trailer shop to have that checked as well. Thanks in advance guys!

Well I tracked down some reasonably priced stainless hardware and got the bunks in today. They fit thankfully but next time I will make sure to measure while boat is in the water...as it was really close. Does it looks like the old bunks were pressure treated? Thanks again guys! So in the end I went with Cedar planks Outdoor carpet from Home Depot Stainless staples Stainless carraige bolts.

Rogers doesn't have the network that Bell does up there. It runs off the cell towers to direct line of sight isn't as big an issue. Netgear Turbo hub: http://www.bell.ca/shopping/Turbo-Hub-Flex-Plan/THUB.details If you only do browsing and the occasional video, $45/mo isn't bad at all. Plus it automatically bumps you to next rate if you go over. If you have other bell products you can probably haggle with them to bundle etc. Cable cable probably has a line of sight setup similar to explornet. I'd be doing my homework on that one. Either way I'd test both to make sure speed is acceptable.

Cliff, bell has a really good wireless solution up there that is reasonable if you aren't using a ton of data each month. I know folk who switched from xplornet to them and are really happy. Not a big bell fan but not much options up there and it does work.

Ok wasn't sure think the original bolts are galvanized by the looks of it not sure of wood type.
-
Guys would hot dipped galvanized hardware work or should I go stainless. Want to make sure it won't react with wood or aluminum
-
I saw one waiting to happen yesterday. This guy's truck and his boat had to get pulled out of the launch by a real truck that could handle this load. Not sure if he even made it up the hill to the road

Crap taking the cedar back its been treated with stuff says don't use with aluminum.....pine it is

I gave in and got some cedar today. I wasn't too bad but I figure it will last as long as I have the trailer. Home depot had the carpet and TSC had the stainless hardware at a reasonable price...if I don't get to it by Monday might go to a fastener place to get them cheaper. Good point I will stain the wood before I put it on!
-
Roy I don't think they can be used on riveted boats. Will check out the depot for carpet So cedar should be best?
-
That's great guys thanks! Would cedar be the best wood choice then? What about carpet would fairly thick outdoor carpet work?
-
I noticed tonight that I should be looking at replacing my trailer bunks. They look to currently be 2x6 pressure treated wood with carpet (not sure if they are glued anywhere...staples on at least the sides). So I think I can measure and template the new bunks w/o any issue. So I have some questions: 1. What materials are best? (style of carpet, type of wood, staples or glue?) 2. Should carriage bolts work for this application; (drill out the hole so its below the wood line) or should I be looking at another option? I'm hoping to do this at a lake so I'm not stuck jacking the boat up off the trailer. Thanks in advance guys!

How to get the best tasting fish to bring home
scugpg replied to scugpg's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the responses guys. To save space I'd like to use my livewell as a cooler, so I'll get some jugs and freeze em up! Any suggestions for strong durable jugs that can be frozen over and over? -

I know what you mean; but instead of buying crushed ice and throwing in cooler or dry livewell you could use frozen jugs & water to keep them cold instead? -

Roy what's a dispatch (neck?) I figured using some big jugs of ice in the livewell w/water once they are departed would keep them as good as just ice.
