  2. Went by yesterday and the launchs are completely ice free. Western end of lake is flowing into the storm areas(all the boardwalks over them) but they are still frozen. Eastern end by the bridge is still pretty solid with ice. There are small areas on each side of the bridge that are ice free. To small to cast effectively. Should melt by the weekend or the start of next week. Middle section around the boat houses has some good open spots but the owners of the marina chase you out. I jumped the fence and was asked to leave by some lady screaming at me. Dirk
  3. I have a couple of Citica 200E reels and although I have only been using them for a few weeks now for soft water PIKE, I can honestly say I love them. They are awsome, cast a mile, super smooth drag system. The low profile is great to, fits into your hand like a glove when retreiving. I have them paired up with Crucial Rods and I can't wait to use them for bass, walleye, etc. I think they are worth every penny. Dirk
  4. that's mind blowing.... When you think about those numbers, 40 million hits by the number of members: 4395, that translates into each member cathcing 9101 fish. Holy crap. Great job to all the mods. Keep up the good work. Dirk......
  5. Congrats. Must be so exciting. Can't wait myself, the wife is due on the 30th.
  6. Shimano Crucial Rods are dynamite.

I was thinking of taking a pic of myself holding the OFC Community Team #6 sign, but then some of you would have thought I look like I am getting ready to spawn from all the winter feeding. Wasn't sure what category it would fit in... Dirk...

  10. How do you upload to the gallery? Dirk... Nevermind, I saw the NEW ALBUM tab after scrolling the creen to the right....duhhhhhh
  11. I just went to Henry's to investigate and you are right. Both of the lenses I have will work on the D40 however only in manual focus. They will auto focus on the D90. Now I think I might go for the D90, has live view, can record movies unlike to D40. Thanks. Dirk....
  12. I am finally going to upgrade my digital camera seeing as I got some gift cards for Birthday Christmas. I currently have 2 Sony Digital Cameras, one is a DSC and the other a Cybershot. I love them both as they are both point and shoot. I have a SLR but it isn't a digital one. I have the old NIKON F70. With this camera I have 2 lenses one is a 28-200mm Nikkor and the other is a SIGMA 170-500mm lense. I checked around and obviously there are some Digital SLR's in the 4 and $5000 range, which is way more than I want to spend. I am finally going away from SONY for a couple of reasons. The camera I am looking to get is NIKON's entry level SLR, it is the D40 D-SLR, 18-55mm lense.. First I was very happy with the F70, I haven't used it in years but when I did take pictures with it, they turned out great. Second, I was told that the above lenses will work on the the D40 camera. Basically they have been sitting and if they can be used then I have 3 lenses in totalk which will give me a great range to shoot. Anyone own one? What types of lenses do you have and is this a good buy? Recommend anything different? Thanks, Dirk
  13. Dave, you are so right, I've been using that rod a bit on my last few outings to get a feel for it and is so so awsome. Super sensitive, lightweight, casts a mile, great all round rod. Have yet to land one with it but that will come. Cheers and thanks, Dirk......
  14. I normally just use the GAMAKATSU DROPSHOT HOOKS when dropshotting but saw these new DAIICHI STANDOUT HOOKS. Does anyone use them? Any advantages? The small arm on the Standout hook forces the hook to always remain in the proper postion, but if you tie the Palomar knot correctly with the Regular Gamakatsu Dropshot Hook, it does that anyways. Thanks..... Dirk...
  15. it's crap, my 2 cents
  16. Awsome video, thats so cool to be a guide up there. Great tool you made. I know what its for, but can you explain it? How it differs from the long pliers? Dirk....
  17. I'm taking Jardine in the main event. I think he will come up victorious.
  18. That report takes the cake. By far, the best, the funniest I have ever seen. Reminds me of when Gord Stellick used to have people call in for "Lunchbag Letdown" lmao Getting shut out due to mother natures cold fury is one thing, but to then receive such a monster guiche, truly awsome. Looks like something from Californias or Colangelo Bros. Gonna run out and get me some Mortadella. Seems that mystery meat may be the ticket to big bad Pike. Maybe that was a GPS chip for Doug to be able to track you to your hotspots? Cheers, well done guys.
  19. Nicely done. Look at the fat gut on that thing.
  20. Great report Anton. That truly captured the essence of what fishing is all about. First of many more to come. Dirk.....
  21. Hearing about that sale could be bad news. I'm not an ice fisher, but this sale may persuade me to just go out and purchase the required gear should I choose to take it up. CONTEMPLATION. The wife would never see me then. Dirk...
  22. Great job Edwin. Still it looks like a GOBY from that high up. Just kidding, congrats. Dirk
  23. The Rigging Shoppe in Scarborough at Midland and Lawrance stocks a lot of stuff. Dirk.
  24. Try Adeline Park up in Newmarket. Lots of shore spots and great springtime Crappie action. Dirk.
  25. LMAO, you know it. Pike will now hopefully become an adopted member of my family. Dirk..
