there is no comparison! ive fished with vex's and macums and these new hummingbirds blow them outta the water in my opinion. put the units side by side and what a difference, way easier to control, way easier to see, and the definition..... WOW!!!!! digital depth readings... I bought the 55 last year and man, dont know how i ever got along without it!

Oh man does that ever get my blood boiling for specks! Great job man.. those are TOP NOTCH specks ANYWHERE!

go to the place in the georgian mall, they do some really nice work. http://www.georgianmall.ca/EN/Directory/St...Yours_E002.aspx For my groomsmen's gifts this fall I took them over a couple nice fillet knives and got them to engrave my buddies names on them. nice work for sure, looked pretty sweet! i had been thinking on brinning my Islander there to get something engraved on it.

i just came from dropping off our boat at the Legend dealer and was having a look around. they have some pretty sweet 18-20' boats out there ready to fish with riggers, rods, trolling motor, full enclosures for anywhere from 18500-25000 and there all BRAND NEW! i think id be having a look around

go with the 40 ONLY if you plan on having yourself and 1 other passenger on board! We have the same 50 on our extreme as we did on our excite and with 3 guys on board it really has issues when there's a bit of a chop on the water! We get 30mph out of her and thats more than enough but the larger engine would really make a difference with the get up and go if your planning on fishing with friends. i refuse to take 4 guys out on ours just cause i know id have HUGE issues trying to get on plane . we dropped a pitch in prop and that helped out alot but then we put a 9.9 kicker on and that took out most the momentum. 2-3 guys is just perfect. I can launch here in ORO and boot over to willow beach or thorah island in 20 min or so on most days.

i cant stress that enough! We bought that exact boat 2 summers ago, came with a 25hp and it was severly underpowered! We upgraded to a 50 within the first week and the 50 was sufficent enough to get you where you want to. Dad had a bit of an accident with the boat however and insurance gave us full value for it. since we had used the boat for a good month or so before they took it away we knew what we liked and what we didnt like. the side console sucked! man its a windy cold ride across simcoe mid May with not alot of wind protection! Since we had a chance to get a new boat we upgraded to the extreme. full windshield, top, side walls, litle deeper and little wider. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! weve had it for a year and a half and have put 470hours on it as of last august! I fish some big water, lake O Simcoe and GB and have had no issues at all with the extreme, where as the excite i know i wouldnt have gone out in half the water that id go out in the extreme in. if you can, spent the bit extra and get the comfort! makes your days so much more enjoyable!

I know that I had thought long and hard about starting up a guiding business for river fishing, but finally came to the conclusion that it just wasnt worth it, too many spots to loose. Its one thing if your going to guide from a boat. Not that many people in general have a boat. alot of people cant afford buying a boat or are willing to spend the $ to buy all the gear involved. So spending $$ on a guide that will take you out and show you how its done is well worth it. they'll pay for the experience alone cause ITS NOT SOMETHING YOU CAN JUST GO AND DO ON ANY GIVEN DAY. Where as if you go and guide people on rivers.... all they need is the gas $$$ and a car and a bit of walking effort and they will get there! I think the thing is that with a boat you have so many options where to go, what to fish for, and have a good chunk of the season to fish. With the Rivers or shore fishing there's only so many public access spots! And i know that there are only room for afew people per hole in most rivers. crowds are never fun on rivers. I know it wouldnt be fun trying to show a newbie how to fish a river or a hole and have other guys casting over lines, and i know id be pissed the first time i took a new client out, drove an hour and half, or couple hours walked a half hour to hit a certain hole and show up at the crack of dawn and have the people you took out last week and 3 of there buddies along for the ride hitting fish in your best hole while your new client is looking at you like what the hell?? And you know what? I cant say I'd blame the guys for going there either! hey.. its public access, ANYONE can fish it! I thik it may be different if it were a large river like the niagra or rivers in BC. but even out there you see the river guides all using drift boats to get to there places. its one thing if the people are flying in or driving from far off places to have a fishing trip of a lifetime, but id be careful when its people in your own backyard.

took the wife and kid out tonight for a boat ride, and dinner on the water, armed with subway subs and afew bags of chips we were on the water at 5 30. ripped up the oro shoreline to let the little guy go for a swim along the oro beach. After he got tired of swimming we boated for awhile longer till i came across some waypoints that have been very productive the last few weeks. I just HAD to drop a line down to test the rigger i just had repaired yesterday. drop the balls to bottom, start heading towards home. 10 min later the rod poped, i grabed it, set the hook and gave the rod to the kid to bring in. he had a very tough time holding on to it so i placed the rod in one of the holders and let him reel till hes heart was content. 5 min later and still 140' back and taking off on its 3rd big run he said that he had enough! so i grabbed the rod and finished this guy off! SWEET fish! watched as she swam away, brought up the other rod and left. was back sitting at home by 7 30, with no complaints! now gettign ready for soem salmon in the morning!

good luck!

heres afew pics over the past 3 weeks. i had my nose broken in 5 places at the end of may so ive been taking full advantage of the calm waters and enjoying the water! lakers been picking up rigging out there and the jigging's been still pretty good as well! one more week off then its back to work! get it in while i can!
-
earlier in the week i needed to get some things done around here so didnt bother going fishing. One thing that ive always disliked with northern King spoons is that the tape comes off after afew good fish. alot of times it only last afew hours when the lakers are on fire... before after after they dried.. they were ready for the real test! heck of alot cheaper than buying new ones. i sealed them all with a good epoxy clear coat so the paint should last a long long time!

for perch and panfish i wouldnt think of using anything else other than an electric.. but larger fish, whitefish, trout, pickeral, theres nothing like a good sharp blade. ive found the rapala knives with the black handle, not the wood one works best. best bang for yoru buck thats for sure.

yup.. thats bob's own little girl!

sounds like the ducer is screwed to me.. we had a similar problem with our x27 last year and after 3 trips to lowrance, and them saying they fixed it, it was just the settings, they finally gave us a new ducer and theat fixed things perfectly. if its not the ducer, you can just take the entire unit to lowrance themselves in missisauga and they'll do a diagnostic check on it for you for free.

black green been working the best the last 2 weeks.. as you can see in the one pic

Bring TARPS!!! make sure you pack 2 or 3 good tarps, makes the campsite soooooooooo much easier, food wise, soups and instant potatoes, powdered milk, onions, lipton pasta's oatmeal, steaks for the first night, thats the staple of our menu, then plan on fish for the rest, troll EGB's around and you'll get your lakers! good luck!
-
Nice!!!! great to see you hitting them silver salmon! Might have to make my way down there one day next week!

if you want something to get you buy, then grab the ones from canadian tire... if you want something thats going to last for a long long time and be EXTREMELY comforatable in then go to bass pro and buy a pair of Simms.. you dont need the 400- 600 dollar ones, buy the $200 breathables, ive owened way too many waders in my day, the Simms are by far the most durable and most comforatable ive ever owned! get a size bigger than you normally would so that you can use them in the winter/fall months for the steelhead. i was a commercial baitfish harvestor for 4 years and wore waders 6 days a week all the time. from my own experience, ive seen guys go through 4-5 pairs of them crappy tire waders a season where with the simms i got 2 or 3 FULL seasons outta them. with The hell i put them through, they turned me into a believer!
