Getting excited: Borden Lake trip June 17 to 23
Big Cliff replied to Big Cliff's topic in General Discussion
I lived on Sturgeon lake (Snug Harbour) for 16 years. If you ever want to fish it again, let me know. I might be able to show you a few spots😊 -
Last year on my trip with Mad Jack he mentioned that he has been fishing Chapleau lodge (Borden Lake) for many years. My best friend and long time fishing buddy Ken has been wanting to get away for a trip and one of his choices was Chapleau Lodge. After my conversations with Jack and reading every review I could find it looked pretty much like a no brainer so we booked it. Now the excitement builds, checking our gear, planning the food, the trip itself, reviewing maps of the lake, the route.... Just courious, anyone else fished the lake? Stayed at Chapleau Lodge? Any tips?

I just got another email that looks like it came from this site saying that there had been 5 faild attemps to log into my account from North York so my account has been locked and to click on these links to "secure my account " or change my password". It explains that if it was me no further action is needed and I will be able to log in again in ......... However I don't seem to be having any trouble logging in obviously. My question is: are these emails actually coming from OFC?

Thank you again, VPN now active.

Ya, the first two were text messages, all they would need is my phone number. The email I got this morning that looked like it came from this site , well, all they would need is my email address. I just deleated the text messages and doubt I need to change my psaaword on here and is unique to this site only.

Since my Facebook account was compromised I have had a few texts telling me that "to change my password I need to enter" (and it gives me a code number). One for my Facebook account and one for my Samsung account. I have already changed my password. Then this morning I got an email which seems to have come from here saying my account was locked because there had been 5 attempts to log in to my account from North York and that I should change my password. My account doesn't seem to be locked. I am just worried that these might be attempts to get me to change passwords that they can some how capture. Am I just being paranoid or is this another scam?

I just bought one of those new vacuum cleaners that does the whole house by itself. I named it I've. Now when I talk to ladies at cards I tell them that I've vacummed the whole house from front to back, under beds and everything every day this week. I got three marrage preposals this week alone. 🤣 Seriously though I can't believe how well this thing works. I like a very clean house and was a little sceptical, I am very impressed, it gets into places I never thought it would!

Wow, Big brother shure is watching! Thanks that is an awsome link, I was amazed at how well it worked. I went through everything and cleaned out a whole mess of stuff and apps, reset my password and should be good to go.

Thanks guys, password has been changed, hopfully that should do it.

Apparently it has been hacked and people are getting friend requests from me that I didn't send. Do I need to do anything? I did put a post on my time line that I have been hacked and to not accept any friend requests, got lots of responses telling me to contact xyz and they could help me but I haven't done that yet.

They were gifted to me and I had way more than I could use. I couldn't think of any one that could make better use of them. I'm looking forward to seeing some of your creations.

Last fall when I was at Eagle Lake, the guides tossed our walleye in Franks hot sauce, let the excess drain off then tossed it in Sysco dry batter and into a pan of hot oil. It was so good we asked them to forget about the sides, just do fish. It's not spicy frys up nice and crisp. Since then that is ONE of my favorites although I can't get the Sysco batter as I don't own a business and they don't sell direct to the public so I just make my own.

worst hotel/motel youve ever stayed at!?
Big Cliff replied to AKRISONER's topic in Non-Outdoors Open Discussion
Maple Leaf Motel in Goderich. Didn't tell us the rest of the place was rented out to a biker club for the weekend. Nice people but they partied all night and we couldn't sleep. We decided to leave the following morning but the manager wouldn't give us a refund for the second night. We later found out they rented our room out to the bikers. Nice deal for them but pissed me off. Never stayed there again. Daytona Beach, almost the same thing happened but we were only there for the one night, found out that many rooms were rented out to bikers, they partied until the wee hours. I "accidentally " hit the car alarm as we were slowly leaving at 5 am. 😊 -
One of the originals, hope you have a wonderful day my friend!

I just got back from Myrtle Beach but I had to leave quicker than expected because my traveling partner had a death in the family. I was buying fresh jumbo shrimp down there for $8.99 a LB. Oysters $20.00 would get you 1/2 a 5 gal pail ( roughly 60-70 oysters) and these were fresh like right at the shore line fresh). Mind you they were still covered in mud and you had to scrub them but heck were they ever good. Clams , OMG not a job for an old man but I was able to dig enough for a few good feeds but you could buy them at the fish market for under $5.00 a dozen. Heres my quandry: I would have brought a good supply home but didn't have time to prepair. I went on line to try to buy some "fresh" seafood, oysters $2.50 ea. Jumbo shrimp $25.00 a lb. I understand that a profit has to be made, and I don't mind paying a reasonable price for what I get but some of these prices seem a little extreme. Does anyone have a supplier in the GTA that provides quality, fresh seafood at anything but an exorberent price?

Well first of all kudos to both of you guys for doing what you can to help others, it is a wonderful feeling. I don't "formally" volunteer anywhere but I do always try my best to help out anyone that I can. Up until last year I would shovel elderly neighbours driveways and things like that. At 77 I can't do as much of the physical stuff any more and in fact have to hire help for some things. I still do other things, help out with paper work, rides to medical appointments, fix things for neighbours, check in on the ones that live alone. As far as donations go, now that I am not working anymore I can't donate as much as I use to but I do give what I can to the legion poppy fund every year. If you do it directly to the legion you even get a tax deductible receipt. Being a veteran myself I am very aware of the good work they do. I know there are other very worthy charities but I can only do so much.

Evening to Everyone ..... Spring Smelts
Big Cliff replied to MistyHollow's topic in General Discussion
I sure remember the old days of smelt fishing but those days are long gone. I have fished smrlts through the ice down in Wellend and it was a lot of fun. They seamed to be smaller than what i remembered but tasted just as good. Would love to get into enough for a feed again but won't hold my breath. 😊 -

Couldn't be a better choice IMHO -
I finally got out ice fishing on Monday, last year it was a struggle to get enough decent perch for a feed, not a problem this year. I am not going to give you a number but from the time we got there until we left it was one after another, often with both of us pulling up double headers at the same time. There were a few dinks but most of them were 10+" with a few monsters thrown in. I can honestly say it was probably the best day catching I can ever remember. (We both only kept about 20 fish) Conditions out there were pretty good, ice seemed to be 8- 10 " but there seemed to be quite a bit of slush building up by the end of the day. Days like that I am glad i go out with an operator, it's worth the money for me to not have to worry getting stuck, that's work for a young man 😊 Once again, thanks to Tim Hales and his crew for another fantastic day!
-
I would love to Geoff but I will be on my way to Myrtle Beach to get my fill of whitings, clams, oysters.....
-
Just got word Tim Hales has huts out. ( I am NOT SAYING IT'S SAFE) but I do trust Tim and his staff to get me out there and make sure I get back in. I was beginning to think I wouldn't get any perch fishing in before I head to Myrtle Beach this year.
