I was sitting here reading all the posts on ice fishing and looking at all the gear that everyone is hauling out with them. I got thinking back to when I was in my mid 20s and living in French River. A 12hp Elan was a luxury, no augers, a homemade ice chisle (spud), and a tree branch was our goto rod. We didn't have ice huts, a couple of poles stuck in the ice with a tarp to break the wind if anything. Pretty basic but we did catch a lot of fish 😊 Mind you, back then we could build a fire out on the ice, we didn't have to trailer our machines to get to the lake, and the only time you saw anyone else is if you happened to be fishing together.

Well as much as I would like to fish with many of the guys on this board I am being VERY careful about following the rules. I am just glad we even have this opportunity! I guess it's all good to take chances until someone you know and love dies from covid.

He hasn't started putting huts out yet, from what I understand he is starting this weekend. Since they can only take people out one hut at a time, I expect they will be using sleds. Quad or Sally? I guess it would depend on how much snow is on the ice.

This whole thing is starting to get very frustrating. I can't get a hair cut, barbers aren't considered essential but they are now going to allow dog groomers to open back up. People are traveling into Toronto to go skating, thats a no no but if they want to travel to Toronto and stand in line incase someone doesn't show they can take a chance and might get in. Total insanity!

Be careful, I would hate to find out the ice isn't safe on the news 😊

Ahhh bacon fat, my secrent ingredient in my home made bread 😊 3 nice loaves uses 4 cups all pourpous flour and it is so easy. Now i prefer the smaller loaves because I keep giving some away but the process is the same you just have to adjust the cooking time😊
