I wonder if the judge has ever had to follow (chase) a moose down the road, probably doesn't even hunt.

Actually that is one of the reasons I want to get away from Bell. I use to have one set up at my trailer in French River. Bell told me I could not have a receiver at two different locations and that I would have to pay for a seperate account. Cable Cable just told me they hope to have our TV up and running sometime this month then Bell will be out of here. Too bad they have to get people ticked off with them before they start to get the concept of customer service. Since I cancelled my phone with them they have called up with all sorts of wonderful offers but there is no way I would switch back. -
Best way I know to handle it is to go hunting them, they seem to know when they are being hunted and are almost impossible to see!

A few years ago I was across the road on my ATV and I saw a young black lab running across the field toward me, her tail was down and she looked scared. It took a couple of seconds but not far behind her was a "coydog" for lack of a better description, bigger than a coyote and had quite a bit of brown in it's fur. I could tell she was in trouble but I didn't have a gun with me so I hit the throttle and charged toward them. I managed to get between them and then started trying to run over the coydog. The lab just sat and waited but the coydog didn't want to give up, it really wanted the little lab, I spent a good 15 or 20 minutes trying to hit the coydog and it finally started to back off but I had to chase it quite a way before it finally did take off. The lab followed me home like she had been my dog for life, she was beautiful and well behaved, I put a blanket down in the garage and she just curled up on it and went to sleep. I knew she had to belong to someone in the area but she didn't have a collar or tags so I called animal control and they came out and got her, with instructions that if they couldn't find her owner I would take her. About three days later I got a call from a fellow that lives a couple of miles from here to let me know that he got his dog back, seems she had slipped her collar and run off. He was glad to get the dog back but he wasn't too happy about the fine they gave him for his dog running loose. I know there are packs of coyotes in the area, one of our neigbours shot 20+ two years ago and we always see tracks when we go across the road into the bush in the winter. Glad to hear that your dog is ok but as tough as he might be, he might not survive against a pack.

That Bruce is one heck of a good man! But then good begets good doesn't it!

OK, I might be wrong here (I probably am) but NetFlix is an "on demand" service so why would you want to save anything to watch later, you can watch it whenever you want on NetFlix can't you? I use my WDTV live and can pause, stop, go back later, whatever I want to do. My computer isn't connected directly to my TV except through the WDTV wirelessly (didn't want a cable running across the floor) and if there is a TV show that I want to watch I just down load it using KAT, run it through VUZE and play it on my TV. I get HD or whatever it was broadcast in which is perfect for me. Again it is as good as having it on a DVD and when I am done with it, a couple of keystrokes and it is gone or if I want, I can burn it to DVD or a memory stick and take it up to the kids with me easy as drag and drop. I have no experience with any of the other systems but the WDTV, it was the first one I got and I never figured I needed anything else.

I have the WDTV Live, bought it at Staples for $109.00 and I love it. Play movies directly from my computer does NetFlix and a ton of other stuff. Very easy to set up and use (it had to be for me). I download a lot of the TV shows we like to watch and then just play them when we want just like having them on DVD

I think it is really sad that mother nature has so much to offer and so few know how to access it. Unfortunatly it seems that many more do know how to abuse it though. Wild leeks, mushrooms, wild rice, fiddleheads, apples, a huge range of berries, making pickels, jams and jellies, jerky, mint, maple syrup, birch vinager, and all the fish and game we could want; the list is almost endless. My kids grew up knowing how to set snares, preserve foods, hunt and fish, we never did have a lot of money but they could both survive off the land for quite a while if they needed to. Me, not so much anymore, Sue and I would be ok until our meds ran out then it would be anyone's guess LOL. One of the best books I ever owned is called "Back to Basics". It should be required reading in every Canadian school! Check it out if you get a chance, it covers most of what anyone would need to survive off the land including building shelters and starting fires.

Had my tackle box disapear on me last year so I feel your pain. The everyday stuff wasn't a big deal but I had a lot of things in there that had been given to me by friends over the years, a lot of it was hand made, it all meant a lot to me and there it was gone. Several of my friends came to the rescue and were able to help me rebuild my box of memories to some degree, it will never be exactly the same but it's as close as it gets. Where are you located? I checked your profile but it doesn't give much information. I might be able to help you out a bit, won't be brand new but I'm always willing to share what I can spare! -
Bill, you are talking to a guy that grew up with steam engines. Unless you can tell me to "Click here" and give it to me step by step I have no idea what I am doing LOL. Don't even know what DNS stands for "well maybe" Do Not Surender? Actually I think we have the US content, my son set it up for me. We do use the Wii but we also have a WDTV Live unit and I just use it. I find it easier.

Only thing I find with NetFlix is that most of the movies are older and I have already seen them. There are a few good series; House of Cards, Covert Affairs but after last winter we had watched almost everything right up to date that we were interested in. We hardly ever turn it on anymore.

Not Bad? That is fantastic!

I'd be interested in hearing what you get on the GPS! Not that it is a factor, the fact that it runs so well just amazes me. What is that saying "one mans garbage is another mans gold"?
-
The ones we use to catch were usually 2-3' long. Had smoked eel in Belgium one time, boy was it good!

Up in the 400/11 area from what I understand and another fatality, what is that, 3 this year all in the same area? Thoughts and prayers go out to the families.
-
Heard about it on the radio, you are right, very sad! Last I heard though was no fatalities, I hope it stays that way.

When I was a kid living in Quebec we use to catch them in one of the little creeks just off Lake of Two Moutains. We would put them into a burlap sack in the river and a guy would come and buy them from us I think we use to get $0.50 each for them (a lot of money in those days). I remember we would grab them behind the head to take the hook out and they would wrap themselves around our arm.

In spite of the increased fines I still see it every day NF
