  1. ^^^He's right!!! I see a move in your future!!!!
  2. Do you have a balcony? If you do haul it up with ropes!!!
  3. The ones I have seen fail are the clamp on ones. Had guests up @ the lodge bring them up and watched the clamps snap and rods went over board while trolling T60's for lakers. Happened twice in about an hour. Luckily the quick thinking guide instantly did a big circle and managed to catch the downed rod with the other line to retrieve the rod and reel. TWICE!!!!!
  4. I've seen some of the Down East holders fail and it's not pretty watching your expensive gear fly off the boat.
  5. They are preempting the ducks game with some minor league hockey. But you can watch the game on TSN.ca, but only if you have a subscription/paid access!!!
  6. http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/site/?pageid=event_desc&edis_id=BH-20140425-43495-USA
  7. Planning on a steel roof on my cabin. Not only for looks and longevity but for fire resistance, being nowhere near fire fighting services.
  8. I'm convinced!!! Going to order a pair in the morning. I have a full set of the power lock holders now but am looking forward to the quick release of the ORCA.
  9. There's a good reason they follow instead of stopping and waiting. You stop and the moose could just stand there for hours. You follow and 99% of the time the moose will veer off the trail. This moose was a 1%er.
  10. Nice!!! If they hold up to sammins and ski's they'll hold up to giant lakers and poikes!!!
  11. Any body used them and have a review for me. Looking at picking up a couple for the boat. They look very similar to the Folbe Advantage rod holders which are quite good. So any OFNers have them or used them? Enquiring minds want to know.
  12. I'm waiting for my dock hardware to arrive now. Got to have a place to dock the boat while there. Then I will need to get the privy done and after that the real fun begins.
  13. Can't be missing any hockey games. I also get good cell service at the lot so should be able to stream from my PC tethered to my phone.
  14. At current prices I should be able to get it up and running for under $8K. Mind you I will be doing all of the work myself, so will save a ton of $$$ on labour. I would think with labour the price would almost double.
  15. Just got back from 7 weeks chasing salty fish in Florida and will be heading to Alaska in September for 5 weeks to chase trout and sammins!!!
  16. They work great tossed in your vest or chest pack while out troutin' too!!!!
  17. HA!!! It's always hot at your end of the lake at this time of the year!!!
  18. You think living in Peterborough and not having a dedicated outdoor store is rough, our nearest outdoor store is a 12 hour drive away!!!!! At least our local Canadian Tire has upped their game with an expansion and bigger outdoor section that now includes a good hunting and firearms selection as well as a good fishing section.
  19. Easy answer is YES!!! water can easily wick along the threads into the core (read wood) where it will eventually rot and need to be replaced. A big job on a fiberglass boat but much easier on an aluminum.
  20. My cabin that I will be starting on this year will be off grid as pretty much all are here. It is 14 kms up the lake from the launch. I'm planning a full livable solar system (1,000-1,500 watts of panels) charging a 24 volt bank of batteries to a 3 kw inverter with generator backup for the winter months. There will be a separate small 12 volt system to run game cameras and electric bear fence around the deck to keep the critters for wrecking all of my hard work. Heat will be provided by direct vent propane heaters (utility room and out house ) and a gravity fed pellet stove in the main cabin living area. Water is supplied by a 24 volt RV pump drawing from a 250 gallon tank in the crawl space. It will be filled by gas pump from the lake. Water heater is going to be an Ecotemp L10 tankless on demand propane heater. Fridge and stove will also be propane running off dual 100# tanks. Lighting will be LED and my ceiling fan is going to be a 24 volt unit. The biggest electrical draws will be the microwave and TV/SAT. Battery system will be 1400 ah expandable to 2800 (if needed) with the system I have planned.
  21. What the guy said is true. 99% of the time the moose will run a little bit and then turn off the trail and you can drive on by. They weren't chasing it, just going in the same direction. It just happened to be that 1% moose that didn't veer off the trail.
  22. Here's an idea. Is there room to install an access hatch? If so, just mount one of these close the the mounting location and you should have no problem accessing the back side of the mounting location. http://duckworksbbs.com/hardware/hatches/sd337140-150-160/index.htm
