  1. Here's a short vid of her in action!! Taken with my new Bullet HD Pro 2 action cam. Facebook compression kinda messes up the quality a bit though. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=838883672804640&l=2564766510020149087
  2. Got her out for a couple of hours paddling and a few casts this morning.
  3. Got her all rigged up today. Hope to hit the water in the AM. Installed depth finder, 3 rod holders, my milk crate and anchor trolley.
  4. Plenty of room Berger!!! I think you may even fit.
  5. Got me a new toy fer chasin' de fishes!!!! Gonna rig her up today and then hit the salt!!!
  6. Yeah, the pooch is doing better than me in this heat!!!
  7. He is doing great in the heat. Had him in the puppy spa for a good grooming when I got here. He spends is time in the shade (we have lots of big shade trees) and when he's had enough of the outdoors he relaxes in the comfort of the AC in the house.
  8. He is great in the car Mike. Sleeps a lot and when he isn't sleeping he sits up looking out the windows checking out the scenery. For the first 20 minutes or so of a trip he is all excited, then he mellows out for the rest of the trip. It's the same when we go to Alaska.
  9. Yep, jack plates are useless on aluminum boats!!! Stay with the 4 blade prop, make sure to have a water pressure gauge on the motor and play around with motor height while running. You will find the sweet spot where the boat is at it's best while still having proper cooling. They are great for idling through skinny water as well.
  10. Haven't gone through the receipts yet. Probably somewhere around 10 tanks. Not the longest trip I have driven. My trips from Ontario to Alaska were about 6,700KMs each way.
  11. Looked online this morning and it was a balmy -40 in Yellowknife, but it was a comfortable +16C when I rolled out of bed this morning. Made the 6,000KM drive from Yellowknife to St. Petersberg Florida in 4 very long days of driving. I spent 3 days in Tampa at a hotel as my rental home was not available until Saturday the 1st. Got out for a bit of fishing with my buddy Brian on Friday. The fishing was slow due to a cold front going through the night before but we did get a bunch of ladyfish and a few small trout. We went out for about 4 hours or so and I was sun burnt by the end. Got the rest of the month to get used to the sun and catch some fish. A few pics for your pleasure. Sorry no fish pics yet. My front yard. My rental abode. Sahtu the wonder dog chillin' in the warmth.
  12. A little late to the party but I have been on the road since 5:30AM Mountain time Saturday morning. Gotta love satellite radio as I got to hear the Yanks lose on Saturday, the Canucks win on Sunday morning and Jr. win the Daytona 500 on Sunday night after a 6 hour rain delay!! T'was a great weekend!!!!
  13. Make sure you stop in @ Bud & Mary's Marina and pick up a bucket of bait and then go hand feed the tarpon off the dock there. Plenty of fish to be had off the bridges and any of the piers around. Last time I was down that way we stayed in Marathon (next key down) and we caught tons of fish both off our dock on the intercoastal and off the small pier across the street at the Ramada Inn. At night there were tons of mid sized tarpon, sharks, cudas etc under the lights.
  14. I have had a lot of fun fishing aluminum cigar tubes for pike. http://www.trophy-clips.com/view_video.php?viewkey=361a1b07bc55042e25e5
  15. Canada looks like they're sitting back instead of taking it to the Slovaks. They need to step up the intensity or they could end up like the Russians.
  16. GOAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!
  17. No need to play hookie here. I'm streaming the Olympics live over our college's Student Information System, a network of LCD flat screens all over the college. Plus I'm running it on a laptop in my office.
  18. Opening day on the Ganny years ago. We were fishing the abutments below the ball field as we usually did back then. Both sides of the run were jammed with people. On the road side there is parking and a fellow pulled into a spot and hopped out of his car. Only problem was he left it in neutral and it rolled over the edge towards the bottom end of the run. There were steelheaders scattering like cockroaches when the lights are turned on!!! The dudes car bounced off a large rock on the way to it's watery resting spot. No steelhead or steelheaders were injured during the melee.
  19. I would go no bigger than a 14' utility boat with 15hp OB. Your weight with trailer will be under 800#'s complete with trailer.
  20. This one's my favourite and the one I'll be wearing to all the Tampa Bay games I will be attending next month. Keep an eye out if you're watching any of the games. I will be in the section just to the left of the goalie mid to top of circle for the games against Boston (row 5), Vancouver (row 4) and Ottawa (row 4). For the Coyote's game I will be on the opposite side same general area (row 3).
  21. I upgraded my motor last summer. Went from a 1991 90hp 2 stroke to a 2013 115hp 4 stroke. There is a huge difference in performance. The 4 stroke starts much easier than my 2 stroke (especially when the temp is at or below zero). The 4 stroke is very quiet and gets twice the gas mileage of the 2 stroke. Another plus is the plugs don't load up while trolling like the 2 stroke did. The new 4 strokes have the ability to fine tune the trolling RPM which is a big bonus. I have a Merc with Smart Craft gauges which allows RPM adjustment but the Yammies also have the same ability even the tillers.
  22. If you are pulling it by hand rivets and pieces of 1/8" aluminum sheet are fine. But if you are pulling behind a sled or quad replace the rivets with 1/4-20 bolts and nylock nuts. The rivets will not hold up to the abuse behind a powered vehicle. I know from experience. I used 3/16" stainless rivets and a bunch broke or pulled out due to the abuse. I have not had an issue with bolts though. I did the whole front of my sled as the hitch mounts blew out.
