  1. Glass boats are heavier and tend to ride smoother because of this. Fuel mileage is better on aluminum both on the water and trailering to the lake. Aluminum boats are better when beaching on rocky lakes (i.e. shield lakes). A glass boat would be great on Simcoe IMHO. There are some great deals on 18'-22' CC boats down in the US.
  2. I've been lucky enough to play out two or three 29 hands over the years. And you may have had a 29 hand but you didn't get to play it so..................................................
  3. Don't forget to tie a few with Spin and Glows or floating beads for those times you want a little buoyancy to get your offering up off the bottom.
  4. I picked up a Bullet HD Pro for cheap last Christmas for doing video duty. I mounted it on my mono pod and bungied it into my milk crate when out in my yak. I'm sure your Fuji will do well. But as said, get big cards and have a couple. Here's a vid of me kayaking in FLA. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=838883672804640&set=vb.100000490442858&type=3&theater
  5. Back when I was fishing harnesses in Ontario I made mine using Ande 20# mono. Flouro hadn't been invented yet.
  6. Don't forget to use stainless staples.
  7. Nice bunch of fish. But........................................................... http://www.bassboatseats.com/
  8. Decking will be spanning a maximum of 21" (still have blocking to put in down the middle of the main dock). Mike the drilling was pretty easy. I rented one of these: https://www.hilti.ca/drilling-%26-demolition/combihammers/r4699 Along with the proper sized bits for the job. 5/8" holes took less than a minute to drill (about 3" deep) and the larger ones for the eyebolts took about 1 1/2 minutes and were about 4" deep.
  9. Lots of different buffs to be had out there. The one I'm wearing is made by Simms and is SPF50. This one is a little different than mine but is the same idea. http://www.simmsfishing.com/shop/headwear/sunhood.html Hoorag is one of the original sun protection face shields. They have a bunch of cool looking designs too. http://www.hoorag.com/?gclid=CJ-vyufvpr8CFQmsaQodSGIAqQ Here's some info put together by a friend of mine in Florida about face shields. http://saltyshores.com/wordpress/2012/04/25/video/face-mask-and-the-current-variety/
  10. I wear a good hat, glasses, buff and long sleeve coolmax type shirt when the need arises. Had the short sleeve tee on in this pic. The long sleeve came out next trip. Was pretty toasty out.
  11. Made it back out to the property today with a buddy to help me get the main dock installed and my granite anchor boulders placed in the lake. A few pics of the progress.
  12. Got the ramp relocated to a better spot and installed the decking this weekend. Seems it gets the seal of approval from Sahtu the wonder dog. Also finished the sub structure for the main dock and it is ready to flip over and get launched with a little help from friends on Canada Day. Will get it launched and installed along with a ton of granite boulders that will be used for anchoring the dock. Decking will get done next weekend if weather permits (not looking good right now though).
  13. Yes, it's most likely the bushing. I have heard tons of reports of Yamaha output shaft bushing squeaks. Here's a post about the issue. Seems it's more annoying than anything else. http://www.thehulltruth.com/archive/t-291448.html
  14. Can't imagine hitting a goose on a bike. Had a buddy almost lose it when a sparrow hit him in the shoulder and blow his right hand off the handle bars on the highway.
  15. If anyone is looking for some pets, I'm a Canadian licensed bed bug breeder!!!!
  16. Everyone's invited!!! Entry is one 60oz bottle of amber rum per person.
  17. Camp is going to be named after the town in my favourite movie........Rock Ridge. Yes, building it myself Simon.
  18. WHEW!!!! Thank goodness, wouldn't want that to happen.
