Looks like an early fall... Man I have been hanging around here for years and taking notes on all the spots and still haven't caught anything. Maybe I should give up and start hitting the automotive sites. FWIW most people just like reading the posts and the seeing the fish porn. They are not trying to corner the fish market with insider info. If you don't like it remember what they say... "You should have been here yesterday!" Bonne Chance

The fishing trip Got a laugh out of this....... Brad and his buddies were hanging out and planning an upcoming fishing trip. Unfortunately, he had to tell them that he couldn't go this time because his wife wouldn't let him. After a lot of teasing and name calling, Brad headed home frustrated. The following week when Brad's buddies arrived at the lake to set up camp, they were shocked to see Brad. He was already sitting at the campground with a cold beer, swag rolled out, fishing rod in hand, and a camp fire glowing. "How did you talk your missus into letting you go Brad?" "I didn't have to," Brad replied. Yesterday, when I left work , I went home and slumped down in my chair with a beer to drown my sorrows because I couldn't go fishing. Then the ol' lady Snuck up behind me and covered my eyes and said, 'Surprise'." "When I peeled her hands back, she was standing there in a beautiful see through negligee and she said, ' Carry me into the bedroom, tie me to the bed and you can do whatever you want'..... So, Here I am!"

2 Stroke 15 HP Merc problems thoughts appreciated
Nemo replied to Nemo's topic in General Discussion
Well it looks like it was the carb needle. Cleaned carb, replaced gear oil and spark plug. Total Cost $350 approx. Wow that hurts. Shop rate = $99 per hour. Most of it is time 2.5 hours. Is this reasonable for what was done? Your thoughts appreciated. -

Pickeral Recipe from the Globe thought I would pass it along. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/food-a...article1256235/ Lake Huron Pickerel, Local Chanterelle Salad, Caper Beurre Noisette Ingredients 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 handful mushrooms (such as shiitake, crimini, oyster, honey, button, portobello or chanterelle), cleaned and cut into 1-inch pieces Salt 1 shallot, minced 100 grams butter 1 tablespoon vegetable oil One 200-gram pickerel fillet, skin removed Flour to dredge 1 tablespoon capers, rinsed 1/2 lemon Young salad greens, or any lettuce you like Method Heat olive oil in heavy-bottomed pan on high. Once very hot, add mushrooms and season with salt. After mushrooms begin to sweat and soften, about 2 minutes, lower heat and add shallots and a couple small knobs of butter. Once mushrooms are tender and shallots are cooked through, transfer to a plate and allow to cool. Heat vegetable oil on high in a separate, heavy-bottomed pan. Wipe fish with paper towel and season well with salt. Lightly dredge in flour, shaking off excess. When pan is hot, place fillet skin-side (where the skin used to be) down and cook until golden, 2 minutes. Lower heat if necessary to avoid scorching the flour. Flip fish over and add butter. Continue cooking for 3 minute minutes more, basting fish with foaming butter. When the fish appears tender and flaky, remove it. Continue cooking butter on heat until milk solids begin to brown and it gives off a nutty aroma. Add capers and a squeeze of lemon juice, then remove butter from heat. Taste beurre noisette and adjust seasoning with lemon if necessary. Place 5 or 6 leaves of lettuce at the base of the plate. Spoon mushrooms around and on the lettuce. Place warm fish on top and drizzle beurre noisette on fish and lettuce. Serve immediately.

My wife is up at the cottage and is reporting a problem with the motor on the tinnie. Apparently she can get it to start but when she puts it into gear (forward or reverse) it stalls out. They checked/changed the gas and still an issue. I suspect it is an issue with the carb such as blockage of the valve with dirt. Any ideas on a quick fix or other causes to consider. Appreciate your thoughts. The motor is mid 90's 2 stroke 15hp. Cheers Nemo

Mr Mojo, I am in the bay north of the island. We have caught a couple in the bay itself. One down at Ingoldsby south of Kash Landing and before the bridge into Canning. Pretty small. My neighbour pulled in a beast on the south side of the lake between the Island and Ingoldsby. Also Grass Lake in H'burton is s'posed to be very good as well. PM me and let me know where you are and maybe we can hook up. Cheers Nemo -

Atlantics make a return to the Seine River in Paris. http://www.canada.com/technology/science/A...1644/story.html PARIS – After an absence of nearly a century, Atlantic salmon have returned to France's Seine River, with hundreds swimming past the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame cathedral this year alone, researchers told AFP. The reappearance of salmon and other species chased from these waters by dams and pollution is all the more remarkable because no efforts have been made to reintroduce them. They came back on their own. "There are more and more fish swimming up the Seine," said Bernard Breton, a top official at France's National Federation for Fishing. "This year the numbers have exceeded anything we could have imagined: I would not be surprised if we had passed the 1,000 mark," he told AFP by phone. 2008 was already a record-breaking year, with at least 260 tallied on a video system in the fish passage of the Poses dam above Rouen, a city roughly half way between Paris and the Atlantic Ocean. Historically, the Seine hosted a flourishing population of salmon, a migratory species that return from the sea between December and June to their freshwater birth place to reproduce. But the construction of dams, and especially the fouling of the Seine with chemical runoff from industry and agriculture along with organic pollution, led to their local extinction sometime between WWI and WWII. Today, Salmo salar, or Atlantic salmon, is listed as a threatened species throughout Europe. Imagine the surprise, then, of the weekend angler who reeled a six-kilo (13-pound) specimen just downstream from Paris at the end of last month. Or the dozing fisherman in Suresnes, also downstream from the city gates, who snagged an even bigger one last October, the first such catch in over seven decades. Salmon are not the only fish in the Seine making a comeback. In 1995, only four species were known to swim its waters -- eels, redeye, bream and carp -- and at least one of these is invasive. Today there are at least 32, according to the water purification authority for the larger Paris region. The lamprey eel, sea trout and shad have all joined salmon in the Seine over the last few years. The reason, say scientists, is simple: cleaner water. In the mid-1990s, "between 300 and 500 tonnes of fish died in the Seine up river from Paris every year because of pollution," said Breton. But massive efforts over the last 15 years, including a new water purification plant, have removed much of the river's pollutants. The results suggest that when it comes to conservation, restoring an ecosystem is probably a better strategy than restocking depleted waters, notes Breton. Scientists at France's National Institute for Agricultural Research who track salmon say it is a "bellwether species", a living indicator of their habitat's state of health. To find out more about how Atlantic salmon are recolonising their ancient river haunt, they recently captured and released seven adults in the Seine. Four had spent less than two years at sea before returning to fresh waters, two had returned in the Spring after two years in open waters, and one had waited three years before leaving the ocean. DNA analysis showed that the fish came from several different rivers, in France and elsewhere in Europe. It also suggested that a new "embryo" population specific to the Seine might be forming, probably southeast of Paris at the headwaters of the Yonne River in the region of Morvan. Atlantic salmon were once abundant throughout the north Atlantic, from Quebec to New England in the west, and from the Arctic Circle to Portugal to the east. But over the last three decades, their populations have plummeted, with commercial catches declining by more than 80 percent. Adults spend most of their lives in small groups roaming vast distances at sea in search of food, mainly squid, shrimp and small fish such as herring. Salmon fast during the arduous, upstream journey to their birth place, where females lay eggs and males fertilise them before dying.

My Recent Fly-In Trip ~ A Message From My Outfitter

Secret Spots are as much a part of fishing as bragging about the big one and other fish stories. All part of the fun IMHO. Great report. Seeing how hard it was to get in there you deserve everything you got. Kudos on the hard work and thanks for sharing. -
TJ just west of Yonge? Was it on Dundas or Queen or a smaller side street. There are tons of sushi spots near there. I google mapped Yonge and Dundas and typed in Sushi http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&q=Yon...sa=N&tab=wl Worst case call the Hotel and ask them what they recommend and maybe that'll jog your memory. Let me know if you need more help I work right round there.
