Gotta love the sweet beaver.......oooohhhh yeah!
  2. I always keep my batteries fully charged.
  3. Good haul there, partner. Congrats, nice scenery!
  4. You never know - have to start somewhere.....
  5. Try calling and reserving one - there will be many, many people out on the lake. You don't want to be disappointed in not getting a boat, especially if you are travelling a long way. Do a search on google - many hits come up.
  6. I was thinking $15K. Trailer tires look a little low.....

    Senko's

I use Yum Dingers - same action as a senko, but more durable. I usually stick a small finishing nail in them to alter the fall speed. Sometimes a toothpick to make more bouyant. If you stick a finishing nail in the tail, at the other end away from the hook, they will sink away from the cast. Great for getting in under docks and such - Who needs a flying lure?
  8. Another good resource for you would be to post your question on iboats in the proper repair forum. Not that people around here don't know what they are talking about, but there's a huge number of MM's that frequesnt that site that specialize in certain brands of motors. It has helped me out a lot and gives varying perspectives.
  9. Don't follow the hordes that will be out. Probably mostly on the southern part, south of Grenadier Island. Look for coontail and Milfoil with pockets that will hold fish. Don't fish over the stuff that looks like a bush that covers the entire bottom (sorry, that is not the technical term). It seems to not hold fish. It is thick and has no pockets, just covers the bottom like a blanket. Light colours have worked well, long profiles in plastics. 6-8+ fow. Dusk has been good.
  10. Burleigh Island Lodge - just attended a wedding there 3 weeks ago. Very nice spot. Great food.
  11. There's a place right in Keene, beside the bridge where the free launch is on Indian River I rented from 4-5 years ago. I think it was $45/day. Unfortuantely, I forget the name of the place, can't miss it though. They also do cottage rentals.
  12. Braid is more money, but doesn't need to be changed every year like mono. Also, it doesn't have 'memory' like mono. I am a happy PP user.
  13. For strictly muskie/pike use - I would go with 80# braad. If you are mixing in bass fishng at all, go with 50# and use a coated wire leader for the toothy critters. Abu makes a good reel and you can't go wrong with a shimano rod. I'm not up to speed on prices, but others may be...
  14. Get a CT Options Mastercard. That many litres will net you a ton of CT money....
  15. Seems to be in the 101-104 range.
  16. Another post in the hopefully ending saga of our waterfront dream. The house inspection of the only 4 year-old waterfront home my wife and I were to buy did not go well. Apparently "contracting out" means built by owner with no clue. Everything the home owner seemed to touch was done incorrectly. The HRV unit was circulating air within the home, plumbing vents below traps, leaking showers, water coming in the foundation, water coming in around patio doors, windows not closing as they are not in square, joists not riding on beams, joists not attached to beams, jackposts holding said beams not secured to beams. We wanted to live on the water, not in water. No final occupancy permit obtained from the township (good call Irishfield), no tape/mud on drywall joints in the garage (I hope they weren't running the car in there). Wind howling through light switches and plugs. And this was only a partial list. What about the things in the walls we couldn't see? Everything fixable - but at what cost? Time and money. We backed out of the deal. We had to. Yet another twist - our agent advised against putting a condition on the sale of our home that would stop it's sale should we not buy the other property (apparently a quite common condition, but not according to our guy). We had the final say, but he is the pro - we being young and not experienced in selling our first home, take his advice. The house we spent 4 years upgrading and painting every room, that sold in 4 hours, that we only listed to move to the lake (into that other house) was sold. I was angry and felt cheated - why you ask? The agent was representing both the buyers of our house and us as the sellers. Why did he advise against putting in that clause? Because he wanted his buyers to have this house so he got both commissions, that is our opinion. He said he represented us fairly - I said you're fired - and we are homeless in 6 weeks. Do you really think you were looking out for our best interests? I'm sure he will miss the commission his brokerage is refunding to us. With our waterfront dream dead, there was nothing else on the market that fit our taste and budget, we started looking in town, something we said we would never do. Why move from a house we spent so much time on to another more expensive home in the city? Keep in mind we had a July 20 close - pretty tight timeline to find another place. We found a gorgeous home that we both love in the west end of Peterborough. The inspection on it was today - flawless. It has a pool and a cabana/built-in bar in the backyard and we were able to get our close date as well. In the end it all worked out after a lot of stress and sleepless nights. Maybe we will be on the water for the next house. The games from the real estate agents continued until yesterday when our deposit was finally released to us. The entire story is too big for here, but it would make your head spin. Real estate agents are all sheisters and crooks as far as I am concerned, there may be some good ones out there, but none of them work for this brokerage. My next sale, I am doing myself. Watch out for yourselves as your agent isn't doing it.
  17. Nice video - thanks for sharing.
  18. Kawartha Lakes chain - not on a weekend.
  19. Glad everything worked out for ya BC. Sounds like they did a good job for you. That Dr. at the walk in clinic is another story though.... Hope recovery goes well.
  20. Looks like the first muskie I caught too - see my avatar. Also in the Kawarthas - congrats.
  21. I am not 100% familiar with that area. Big water around with Huron, of course, but that's not likely what you are after. I thought about taking a boat up to a friends trailer near Ipperwash (near GB), and they said to forget it, not too much opportunity. They did mention something about the Ausable <sp> River? Maybe check into that.
  22. VCR's will pass audio - as I said, some TV's don't. Many TV's have audio inputs - so you can hear sound from a DVD player through your TV built-in speakers if you don't have an AVR, but few have audio outputs (as the sound would not be digital). If they do have audio outputs, the sound is usually mono anyway. (i.e. you will not get sound out of 5 speakers, only 2, unless your AVR can decode and upgrade the sound, which most can, but you would never get true digital sound running audio through your TV). Try what deano said about the external sound switch on the TV - it should be in an audio menu - great idea. Another issue - Depending on the video inputs of your TV any cable other than that yellow one will give you a better quality picture from your DVD player. PM me if you have any questions on that. You will get digital sound from your DVD player as it is going straight into your AVR (and not through the TV).
  23. Ficht = nortoriously terrible motor. Search on the net, places like iboats.com. You will not find out many good things. Stay far away. Princecraft is a better boat. That package with anything but a ficht is better than the legend hands down, but still over-priced at $16K IMO. Honestly, I would keep looking like others have suggested.
  24. Do you have a cable box? If no: Audio doesn't go straight into a TV from coax cable (the one that carries your TV signal) and out to an AVR - TV's don't generally "pass" audio signals. Does the sound work on the TV's built-in speakers? Before you probably had audio going into your VCR and then out to the AVR, that would have worked. If yes: The red/white cables should go directly from the cable box into the AVR, not through the TV. You should always try to use optical audio inputs on your AVR vs. the red/white composite cables. You will not get Dolby Digital sound without digital cables - optical (passes light) or digital coax (usually purple or orange). I could go on, and on, and on....but you are probably already confused enough. Good luck with it.
