I think the key is in the casting and rod control (and not having to switch hands)... I am a lefty and reel with my right hand ... while I can certainly cast and fight fish in my right hand ... I am definitely more comfortable with my left .... so a 'left handed' reel to me is for right handed people ... much like a 'shoot left' hockey stick, or 'left' handed golf clubs are for right handed players (although some will argue that one too .. but thats another thread) just my 2cents

Wow, now that is something you reallllllly need to document ... even if only for your (now) young family to enjoy later on in their life. Only a VERRRRRRRY small percentage of the world gets a chance to spend 30 days doing exactly what they want, where they want and when they want .... thats worth more than anything material and I am sure you already know that, but dont underestimate how much people like us will enjoy sharing your experiences ... and dont wait till later to write it all down cause it just wont hapen if you do and it willl seem alot easier task if you write it as you go ... and dont worry about quality ... the quality is in the exerience ... and we can see that even in the picutres ... sign me up for the book.... oh and pm me the GPS locations for those awesome brookies ! (j/k)

Nope .... a skunk is really nothing more than a deposit on your education account Besides ... one has to define skunk .... if you're after walleye and only catch Bass is that a skunk ? If you're chasing chrome and only catch suckers is that a skunk ? If you are chasing Musky and only get a follow ... to me at least .. thats not a skunk ... I think its all in how you look at it. Some days its good enough just to see a swirl behind your bait ... or to see the ripple of a riser with reach of your fly ...

Has anyone spoken with the folks at the bait shop on the 400 (just north of wonderland) where I suspect a huge number of Simcoe anglers get their bait on their way northbound - hopefully they wont be affected - or at least have access to a safe supply.

Park at Erindale Park(North side of Dundas west of Hurontario) ... walk north from the bridge (the season is opened up to Burnhamthorpe)... bring all your regular steelhead gear (waders, noodle rod, light line 6lb, small hooks, floats,roe, flies etc - and most important a pair of polaroids) ... good luck and let us know how you make out.

Yep definitely a Coho , and that black stuff is probably an infection from the gash above ... looks like it may have been a narrow escape from an Osprey or some-such ... just a guess

Well .. I cant swear this was my first fish ... but it is certainly one of the first I have docemented proof ... I was just turned three in this photo I can remember fishing as my primary obsession since my very earliest childhood memories.... mostly around Heart Lake, Bobcaygeon and Glen Haffy and always with my Dad.

Exactly what I was thinking Smokey .. when I saw that pearly irridescent glitter .... Lakers (and deep water Specks) came to mind ... if we ever get any ice I'll post a pic or two
