Well ... here in the west end of the big smoke ... Le Barons has been my local shop for many years ... and being only a 5 min drive away ... it is the place I do most of my 'pre-shopping' ... but I ALWAYS stop in at the local shop whereever I am actually fishing that day ... to spend a few bucks buy some bait and share in the local knowledge ... which IMHO .. is worth EVERY PENNY of the sometimes inflated prices ... without those guys we'd have lots of equipment and no 'gatheirng place for the local knowledge ... when I was growing up there was no electronic communities ... the local bait shop was our 'Fishing Network'

Got myself a new pair of hockey gloves this year .... it was an impulse buy (they were right in the next aisle from the fishing gear at CT ... needed a few stocking stuffers My ladies always do me proud ... got a Helly Hanson Survival suit ... which this year might be very useful if it ever does freeze up ... since it will keep me afloat .... and ... I got the 60 second erection ... er ... set-up ... portable ice hut ... what more could a guy ask for !

So .. I am out on the front lawn having a midnight smoke last night ... less than 48 hours before christmas ... and dont I see three monster dew worms out there munchin on the (newly sprouted) lawn .... gotta tell ya ... I really had to control myself - I just wanted to get the headlamp on and start picking .... and then run down to my local trib I cannot honestly say I have EVER seen this in Toronto ... this was not a case of them being flooded out of their homes ... they were out there happy as can be under the Christmas lights !

And to you too Glen Wow talk about a full moon array ... does that mean the stripers are biting ?

Been doing it for years .... may sound dumb .. but still feels good on christmas day ... and especially if I KNOW that nobody would get it for me .. or if its something the whole family can benefit from ... like a new drift sock ... or a portable transducer mount ... or ... oh somebody stop me I am getting all excited !

To all the OFC community (and especially to our friends behind the scenes keeping this site up and running !), to your families and those close to you - A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND ALL THE VERY BEST FOR 2007 !!! ... the challenge now is to decide whether each of us go into to every one elses threads and respond directly ... or whether we need a generic post we can all add our little 'card' to. So much cheer .. so little time

Last time I pulled that off was when I got a brand new pair of Neoprene Waders from my wife. She was thrilled .. I took my (then 5 year old daughter) down to Bronte and came back with a pretty 5lb silver coho ... isnt that why they extended the season to Dec 31st Actually I think it was Boxing day ... the regs protect all fish on Christmas day

Caught a rod and reel (old mitchell 300) ... that was lost from my boat amost 15 years prior .... took me about an hour ... while cleaning it up ... to recognize it ... and it was my wife that reminded me of the episode all those years ago when some guest tossed it overboard in a failed attempt at matching a 'pro' cast

Who am I to be a trend setter .... I'll triple the Moosebunk vote

Well Danny boy .. Like I said some of us are Leafs fans win or lose ... it was definitely a BRUTAL game to watch last night... but ... as with most fisherman I tend to focus on the next bite (hit/win) and how great it feels ... not on the hours or days trying to make it happen In fact I'll bet theres a lota guys at bars in cities around the globe doing the same thing waiting for ther next chance at wimmins . and they keep coming back evry night ... just cause it MIGHT HAPPEN

Nope ... most of what I catch is released for another day ... but I decide before I go how many if any I would like to take home (rarely more than one and often none) ... on the other hand I have on several occasions felt bad after letting them go though ... wondering if it is really right to fish for pure sport ... with no intent of catching to eat and share with my family.

Yep p2k ! Woo hoo .... merry christmas Uh oh .. I think the Neo Citrin is going to my head ... along with the scotch and Tylenol
-
No no no .... not what you were thinking .... Wee Wee Chew aMerry Chreesmas Was just wondering how long its been since I was last out carolling (probably more than 15 years ago - when the kids were young) ... how bout you ?
-
Actually .. even if they ARE banged up .. its not a big deal to repair them .... as Irish said a few new rivets and a little sealer and they wont leak a drop. If there's a big gash .. simple cut out the piece rivet a new piece in .. bang it into shape and bob's your uncle Should out last you and me

Yes, I think we have a really short memory ... every year its eaither the coldest or warmest in history

Well Im a die hard Leafs fan even when they arent winning ... just nice to see them win a big one once in a while ... especially after a long hard couple of weeks. I dont think we need to gloat about a blow out ... we have been on the other side of that a few times ... how to go Wellwood .. first career hat-trick Funny though after I posted this picture jus a few days ago

Youd be shocked to know how little heat it takes to keep a hut comfortable ... even a small coleman cat heater will do the trick. Definitely no need for the fan .... and yes do leave a ventilation hole open ... CO is a silent undetectable killer.
