  1. Nice report .. sorry to hear abou the camera .. I bought a 'underwater' case for mine this year ... partially so I could get some cool shots and partly so I never have to worry about rain or 'droppage'
  2. confucious say when fisherman talking about investing in real estate - time to sell house
  3. My (almost) instant cure for most types of sore throats is a good old fashioned salt gargle (mix 2 tablespoons of table salt in hot tap water - about half a glass) and gargle until its gone .. dont swallow as it WILL make you barf ... anyhow most sore throats will subside very quickly (if not immediately) ... the sickness will not be cured but the throat will stop getting more and more inflamed .... I find in flu/colds it moves from what would normally be a day or two of sore throat straight on to the next stages of the cold ... nice thing about it is that it doesnt interfere with your 'other' medications ... Anyhow as many have said .. best to go see your doctor about it especially if it persists ....
  4. Glad things worked out Wayne ... I have had a few 'experiences' and cant agree more about the communications aspect ... the thing is ... today at C.T you can pick up a pair or radios with 26km reach for under $100 bucks ... they work off of rechargeable AA batteries ... I always carry 4 of them to distribute to the gang ... and YES they can be life svers (literally) ... a little tip ... I tie each one up in a plastic (sandwich) baggie so even if they get wet they still work ... and float ... and the sound works just fine right through the baggie ... Just make sure every one knows what channel to key in on ....
  5. Wow ... I'll have to fill in the blanks tomorrow ... but I just had to share .... Just got back from our annual trip to the ZEC .. not a banner year if measured in inches or pounds ... but certainly a trip laden with stories to be told around the campfire ... which depending on where you grew up is worth much more Anyhow ... lets just start with a little 8 hour delay on the way in to camp ...due to an EXPLOSIVE double flat on the Lincoln Navigator 4X4 ... only a few Km into the ZEC but almost an hours drive from any form of civilization .... the whole story will take more time than my tired eyes have to write .. but suffice it to say that Murphy was working overtime .... anyhow .. as I kept reminding my (VERY good sport of a ) daughter .. its the journey .. not the destination that defines LIVING..... and a great (even if too short) weekend was had by all ...
  6. Good job Pamela !! I havent seen the picture but I can imagine as always it has captured the essence of what matters most... Pam seems to have a talent for that. Good on ya Joey and Paul for dropping it off
  7. Great stuff ! Congrats on the 'first' (of many to come) !
  8. Mine was a really simple solution ... I got an extensible paint roller handle from home depot for about 15$ ... then drilled a hole through it and the original handle (about a foot up the shaft) and viola ... a 8' extensible handle for my net which can be removed or just twisted down to 4'.. fits right in my trunk
  9. Rainbow, Splake, Whitefish ... thats the normal fare ... then there's Chinook, Coho, even the odd Atlantic.. of course the Lakers .... oh ... and did I mention Whitefish ????
  10. Joe, are you running a spysweeper or other adblocker ... sometimes that will prevent the page from showing (I use KPF and I often get pages blocked because of banner ads with wierd counters and the like ...
  11. The suction cup is always going to be an issue ... no matters who's you use ... thats why they make a portable transducer mount (it hangs of a clamp on the back of the boat .. work like a charm and can be raised out of the water for 'running' They sell the clamps at Le B and at BPS ... around 35$ but worth every cent IMHO ... pretty easy to attach ANYONES transducer to it... EDIT ... yep always better if you read ALL the posts first
  12. ok ... I am losing it ... how do I get it back .... I cant find the skins button anywhere
  13. Wow ... aint it the truth !!!! The best figure 8 for me was when I was demonstrating it to a buddy (no follow that I knew of) and I was explaining it to him why/when/wherefore ... and BAM ... a 12 lber hit me right behind the boat .... outa nowhere ... I just about wet myself Good to see you had some fun at the trailer Lew !

  20. Welcome ... wow you are in some prime fishing country there .... not far from de-swiss-shaw (not sure how it is really supposed to be spelled) .. but that was for many years an annual pilgrimage for the first full moon in June Walleye ....
  21. People who waste too much flesh when they filet their Musky People who proudly C & R 50 fish in a day but look down on those to catch and eat half their limit People who muddy up my creek People who move in 20 feet up stream from me but insist on letting their float run 50 feet downstream from me completely messing up my drift People who leave their bait container (or anything else) behind when they are finished for the day People who toss their left over minnows into the lake when they are done ... almost ALWAYS those minnows are from some other body of water People who intentionally fish for fingerling fish which cant possibly be considered sporting and certainly cant be considered food (especially when said fingerlings are of the trout or salmonid variety) ... hint ... if you are catching 6 inch fish .. move or switch baits ... that next years fish you are killing
  22. Now thats what I call girth Dan ! And a fat fish too !
  23. well .. since Plastic was only invented about 50 years ago ... it aint no antique I am afraid ... but it may be a collectors item none-the-less
  24. camillj

    !

All I can say is that if the fish he is holding is anything close to 24" girth .. then he has 12" fingers .... he's a GIANT ! My guess .. that fish is 4.5 TOPS
