  1. try to find the warmest water, it doesn't have to be dead slow, sure, try perch color, if not something brighter (I'm not an expert, just going by what was happening last weekend), good luck again
  2. I've never fished it, this is just the word on the street, for a few years, some older guys took small walleye from Head Lk and threw them in South..........
  3. my back still aches when I hear that word good luck, let us know how you do Locnar, suspending jerk baits were the ticket in last weeks pike derby on Balsam
  4. I would say splake, but other guys here might know better are the brookies natural or stocked in the lake you were on? I'm guessing stocked I think splake usually look more like lakers but sometimes the brookie genetics manifest themselves I caught this in a splake only lake regardless, a beauty fish!
  5. good luck on Rice, let us know how you do for me, walleye in Haliburton and the Kawarthas, hoping to launch the pontoon and look for lakers too, if things go well, a fish fry dinner and campfire, probably cutting and splitting some wood, it should be fun
  6. kickin' butt as usual Shawn, nice!
  7. looks like a sweet little spot you have there, nice report just curious, was there another guy there? or how are you taking your pictures?
  8. great report, well written, it's the small details you included that made it a great read I'm looking forward to next springs report
  9. I think you may be on the wrong forum
  10. pretty cool, that stuff was bone dry though, you could light a fire anyway you want with that wood
  11. that's a good sized stocked bow, it's your first but I bet it won't be your last
  12. great report, you guys are hilarious, I like the dialogue during that video, Hahaha
  13. yeah, I was going to say, I've got that species at the cottage, I don't touch them thanks Kuha, the bike's an old Gary Fisher Marlin, it's been a great bike
  14. The black flies are starting to make an appearance up in Haliburton. water was 45.5 to 52 degrees by the time I had found warmer water and figured out the walleye, the wind was blowing up and I didn't have long all fish were caught on suspending twitch baits, I had minnows and worms but they weren't necessary my walleyes and the slot restrictions didn't jive so I kept 2 of these how did everybody else do?
  15. wow, good eye Gino, mon fracais nes pas bien but I hope the thief is that dumb
  16. I'll 2nd this idea, we have one, the guests and my wife like writing in it, each page has a date, the weather, who was there, what we did, what we saw, favorite moments when I skim though it, it helps keep track of the smaller details when we got it, I thought it was cheesy, now I think it's great
  17. My Dad (69 years old) is basically computer illiterate, definitely no smart phone, and now there's no hard copy of printed fishing regs. Is it my responsibility to tell him he now needs a licence? Lets cut some or all senators and some politicians to save a few $$$
  18. favourite recipe- roll them around in balsamic vinegar and olive oil, then a quick grill on the BBQ (I know some people say they should be cooked thoroughly, so use at your own risk)
  19. did you get a water temp. today Cliff? strategies- I know where they spawn, so I'm going to start as close as legally possible to there -slow, jigs tipped with a piece of worm, I'll have some minnows if they're available or I can get some in the trap poor planning on somebodies part, Mother's Day and the walleye opener on the same weekend, damn!
  20. my wife called me a "something else" head for for riding around instead of working on the "to do" list but picking fiddleheads is another ritual of spring, In Oakville, things are about 2 to 3 weeks behind normal, I thought I was still going to be a little early but it's actually late
  21. You're a great asset to have around here MB
  22. tobacco is one of the 4 sacred medicines but, I always thought it was anything of value. We always pour the first bit of our first beer of the day (it's 5 o'clock somewhere) into the lake/ river too. MB likely has a better answer.
  23. I guess it will be a poor year for recruitment regardless, blame whoever you want, anglers, TSW, Mother Nature?
  24. on a lighter note, I'm pretty sure if Lew got in my face, I'd say "Sorry Sir" and get the heck out of there too
