  2. Gotta admit. ya got me on a couple. I said red bricks fer the greenhouse And 60 degrees on the other. Didn't read the last line of the bus trip, I was too busy adding and substacting the riders
  3. Wow, what a concept...smallest Walleye wins. Sorta like a reverse contest. "Betcha I can catch a smaller one than you." " Your on"! Great idea.
  4. Thanks. I had the impression that it was over fished.
  5. I tried from shore just below the damn. There were some other people who were fishing there also with no success. So I never went back.

  7. Hope y'all have great day tomorrow, and catch some fish. Let us know how you did.
  8. She's a beaut. Like the collapsability factor.
  9. Here's one of our KIKI a 6 year old Persian we rescued from the Toronto Humane Society that someone dropped off in a cardboard box. He has turned out to be the best well behaved cat Elly Mae has ever had...
  10. I like the reverse hooking technique, where you slide the hook point under the minnow's rear caudal fin and have the minnow facing in the opposite direction.
  11. Interesting how the license plate was left out of the picture.
  12. Thanks fer the report. I imagine it was a cold day. Today is very mild, in comparison, and I think it will affect the bite in a positive way.
  13. Thanks fer the report on the Perch scene on Simcoe. I expect we will be getting a few more by weeks' end.
  14. Ok. Modify it so that if a fish takes the bait, the drag mechanism is set so light as to not be noticeable to the fish, and pays out line without freespooling. That means, the bait doesn't freefall to the bottom, or pull down on the fishs' mouth. Next, the fish should be allowed to swim away for a bit, to allow it to have the bait well in it's mouth, b4 the tip up sets the hook. If you can accomplish this, you might have something there.
  15. Now about that thar air eee o plane o' yers. Jethro just completed his grade 6 ed ju ma cation, and brain sur je ree course, an was wonderin' if he could be a pilot?
  16. Point taken Irishfield. I respect yer answer. It makes total sense. The fellas I went with, don't care to take a dunkin either, but they know what they are doing. I was personally frightened, and, as I mentioned in the post, I brought up the rear.
  17. I saw something like that 30 years ago. The problem is, it rips the bait out of the fishs mouth (everytime). Hate to sound negative. But you'll see what I mean once you try it. Maybe you could use one of them slide on rubber stoppers used on slip floats on the line. So that, when the fish peels off say 4-5 feet of line while it swims away, the slip float rubber stopper trips your mechanism and sets the hook. Just an idear.
  18. Wow. During open water ya can't catch a cold there. Like to see the documentation (Pics).
  19. There is talk of raising our minimum wage to $10.00/hour cdn. What is the minimum wage your way?
  20. We walked out with the lead guy roped around the waist checking the ice every 10-15 feet with a chisel. Also they are very experienced. Many years of first ice ventures. I used to 20 years ago. Walking on the ice requires 2" of blue ice. 4" holds the skidoo, no problem. Been there, done that. That fan boat had three people waiting on shore at the launch for him. Me thinks they had plans to fish the open water a la fanboat. They were not there to rescue us. That's fer sure. I might live in the city, but I'm no city folk by nature.
  21. I always said: " When the fools stop breaking through, it will be safe to go out". At least he was close to shore.
  22. Were you planning on walking, or sledding?
  23. Could you post a picture of it?
  24. Yank off a couple of feet, then try to brak it with your hands. Good 6lb test should provide a fair bit of resistance. If it breaks easy, get rid of it and buy some 6lb trilene xl. It has an uncanny way of lasting for several seasons.
